I proposed the mechakara thing- as in, I thought he was regenerated from the skinsuit Mechakara was wearing- a few videos ago . I still think it's a good fit for the facts, but... Now I'm not so sure it's what's going on. Again, adding some space to avoid spoiling anyone if this turns out to be accurate. Which I encourage you all to DO, by the way. So... The hand that Ben Reilly here is holding and contemplating? That came off the clockwork soldier plastic robot "twin" of Harvey Finevoice, made to serve the King of Worms. The one nobody, at the time, identified as a duplicate. And we know from the time with the King of Worms that putting a platinum mask on Linkara was ATTEMPTED... But it did not work. Everyone else who got a platinum mask got replaced with a clockwork soldier. Did Linkara? Does the King of Worms have the ability to create automatons that can pass as human beings? Is his memory trouble being caused by the fact he wasn't activated fully? Or because of the death of the King of Worms? Of course, I don't THINK that's what's going on, because, well... He's in the wrong outfit. Linkara was already a Badass Longcoat by that point. But it is an interesting question to answer nonetheless. Also, as an aside, Lewis: Your acting is exemplary. It has been for years and that's really no surprise, but... Seriously, kudos. It's easy to forget- until you make an utterly sidesplitting remark poking at it- that you are literally the only person onscreen for a large segment of this show. All of the characters you portray are nuanced and strong and very easy to believe. Also, your writing is fantastic, but then, I've thought that for ages now.

Okay, I’m gonna see if I can get this right. This is the Linkara from Mechakara’s universe. The original. How he managed to come back was through Malachite’s Hand the same way Mechakara came back, or Europa. After all, Mechakara was wearing the skin of his universe’s Linkara, so perhaps through whichever means, his skin managed to regenerate the original, albeit with memory issues because... It was my thought as well to start with, but they mentioned a lack of residual dimensional energy and I was thrown off for a bit. It does make sense that it would be Linkara Conner here, so to speak. I just had a terrifying thought. Maybe the entire time Mechakara was wearing Linkara as a skin suit, that Linkara's soul was trapped inside of Mechakara. We know that human souls can be used for magic hand in hand with technology, hence the magic gun having Margret inside of it. It would be a bit of irony that the entire time Mechakara was trying to understand magic so that he could defeat Linkara... That in reality he was imbued with magic the entire time. If that is the case... Maybe Mechakara would like to have him back.
@NoRegs306 жыл бұрын
I'm going to say that Clonekara here is actually the skin Mechakara used to look like Linkara since the final battle, if I remember correctly, was in the place with the healing field so after Mechakara was killed since he took the skin off said skin could have reformed even after being dead for a long time. But I have no idea where this could actually be going if it is not that. also Kudos on the good acting and story, it really has kept me guessing the entire time
@Gojiragon6 жыл бұрын
Yep, mechakara. In fact, I’m going to make a bold claim and say that the last time we saw him (the movie/boldly flee) was just a copy. After all, if it WAS the linkara of that universe, then why wouldn’t he like his own face? He’s egotistical! Why would the references to machines and “made in his own image” pop up? But why say it was the original Mechakara? Because he first appeared in that outfit. The last few didn’t.
@briandurio64796 жыл бұрын
Someone above made a solid theory that this is not mechakara but the Linkara of Mechakara's timeline that got gutted and worn as a skinsuit. They hypothesized that he could have been reborn from residual energies from the plot hole. It would explain why he started screaming as the memories came back.
@nonspiderweb6 жыл бұрын
yeah, remembering being gutted and worn like a suit must not have been pleasant
@BlackKnightOfTheWind6 жыл бұрын
Brian Durio But if he is Mechakara's skin suit, how did he get back from Jupiter where all of the Plot Hole stuff happened? Both of Mechakara's previous appearances, To Boldly Flee and the AT4W movie, both occurred out near Jupiter and that's where he was destroyed both times. It could be argued that the skin suit came back to life after Mechakara tore it off to upgrade himself but would the residual Plot Hole energy work on skin fragments? It worked on Allen but his body was still in one piece, he wasn't hollowed out and torn up flesh.
@artsman4126 жыл бұрын
Not to mention that in the AT4W movie, they said at the end that the energy field created by the plot hole, the one that kept an atmosphere on Europa so they could have their final fight, was fading rapidly. That means that even if the flesh bits reformed into alternate universe Linkara, he would have died due to lack of ozygen/atmosphere. I still think this theory is correct (and that is Terrifying!), but I wonder how they'll handle that detail.

If it is Mechakara (which is looking to be the case) my working theory right now is he's back and human now due to the healing properties of Europa. He only looked like Linkara in the first place because he was wearing a "suit of flesh", and maybe in the planet's attempt to heal him after their last encounter, it used the human bits to do it. We don't really know that fields full capacity, so if this is Mechakara, and he doesn't register as a machine under any kind of scan, that's the best explanation I can think of.

A lot of people have been throwing around the Mechakara theory since basically the first few episodes of this storyline, I personally never put too much stock into it, but if that’s what Lewis had planned, I’m okay with that. I trust Lewis’s direction and vision and I’ll be happy either way. So, let’s talk theories; who took Linksano’s Linkara clone and why? Does that have anything to do with Erin’s mysterious boss? Who is Erin’s boss and what do they want? How did alternate Linkara get back to Earth from Europa and why are his clothes damaged? Who disabled Pollo and why? Was it alternate Linkara, since his version of Pollo is the one who originally killed him? Was it Erin as part of her job? And what about Linksano’s Linkara clone: where is he and what is he doing?

Hmm... Mechakara used the Magic Coin during the battle that resulted in his destruction during the Lord Vyce storyline, and later on Linkara made a comment about how it may have changed him... I think that Mechakara transferred his programming into another body like Pollo did after his "death" (They are alternate versions of the other after all) but the Coin may have affected things by also making a human version as well as the artificial one we see in future storylines. Maybe because Mechakara wanted to understand and use magic so as to win the war on his earth and the magic of the coin decided being human would be the best path to this?

Given that the issue of the fate of the REAL clone is still unresolved, I do feel the natural reveal is that the copy is Mechakara. Would certainly explain the screaming. That's a hell of an amnesiac dissonance. Keep in mind, whatever force revived Mechakara made him a legitimately good person. He was able to use magic at the end of the last episode, which is only possible for good people in the reviewniverse. I'm just really on edge on what's going to happen with him. Being the bad guy for this years Halloween arc would be a natural anniversary thing, but Mechakara or no, he's clearly not happy about his past. Meanwhile we have no idea who attacked Pollo. I don't think the copy would have done that, as it had nothing to do with his goals and, as I previously said, the copy is/was a good person at that point of time. I feel introducing the real clone now and have him do the "kill Linkara and take over his life" schtick would be a bit cliche. I ironically see that working better if the current Linkara is the clone, as it's far more understandable for someone who never went through this Linkara's character development to try to take back his life by force. Maybe I'm overthinking this and the obvious villain is obvious.

1. Regarding prequel movie Thing being less subtle and more traditional horror, that could easily be written off as an early attempt at spreading. It didn't work, so the thing adapted by changing tactics before going up against station 41. One thing I liked about the "Climate of Fear" comics was the idea to boost the terror by making the thing smarter. It hid from the blood test. It framed Junkie. It recognized the flamethrowers as a threat and went after them. Even the seemingly stupid case of having Raptor Dude draw lots of attention with the flamethrower served a purpose. It distracted everyone who would otherwise track down the other thing creatures trying to escape. 2. Come to think of it, we never did follow up the scene with the King of Worms voice coming out of the scythe hand grim reaper. And we never saw the real face of the King of Worms under the mask. And unlike Pollo, Mechakara never got a refit to protect him from its influence.

Oh god... Guys, it's physically impossible to cloan a robot, so I don't think he's MechaKara... but MechaKara was an evil Poyo who took the body of Linkara and wore it as his own. What if that's the Linkara that was killed and worn like a suit? ...Oh God, what if he remembers everything MechaKara did! Like he was seeing everything he couldn't control as the robot inside him made him do it. Uh-oh...

Clonekara theory. He’s the Linkara from before Too Boldly Flee. The Plot Hole really destroyed the universe, creating a new one in its wake, which is the one we have now. Clonekara is the lone survivor of the pre-plot hole universe. (Kinda like Superboy Prime)

If anyone is interested, the guys at the "slowmutants" KZbin channel made decent motion comics of all The Thing stories, complete with voice acting and music.

Considering October is 5 weeks this month, I figured he was gonna look back on FreddyvsJasonvsAsh2, a Ghostbuster comic, and a Simpson comic. Or, I guess, the first one and with Ghostbuster or Simpsons and a Clone Wars saga comic

That's not Mechakara's hand though, that's from a copy from the King of Worms, I'm actually scared of where this is going.

Oooohhh. Interesting to see that it's likely this clone is Mechakara. Now the big question is why does he have an organic body.
@ZBot3166 жыл бұрын
Theory time: L2 is the flesh that Mechakara used to disguise himself, regenerated after he tore it off on Europa and the L2 has the memories from Mechakara's world's Linkara. As for the clone Linksano created, Mechakara is using that for his new body.

I really do enjoy putting these monsters in different temporal. It doesn't happen often, but Godzilla Minus One did a good job fitting him into Postwar Japan and I only wish it happened during the war itself, while Prey is definitely my favorite Predator movie. Now imagine, say, Freddy Kreuger vs Carl Jung, or Jason Vorhees in the 17th century, or the Xenomorphs in ancient Rome, etc. Historical horror is underdone and usually restricted to colonial witches. which is still improvement over trying to tell witch horror stories in modern day. I had a lot of hope for Dracula Untold for that very reason given the really dramatic, Shakespearian life of Vlad Dracula.

"Decent if not living up to the potential and the set-up with too little page count." is still much better said than most of everything else in these comics that seem to be aggressively bent on punishing the readers (and then kick'em in the shin) for having seen the movie or kept reading these by inconsistencies or questionable writing.

Reading 'The Northman Nightmare,' it actually makes an interesting elseworlds, alternate universe The Thing where everything is reversed

Well the monster the Autobots fight in the first episode of Animated is kind of like a low grade much easier to defeat version the thing. So you kind of already got that crossover.

Would the Thing be able to assimilate a Transformer? I know they're alive, but they're not exactly "organic tissue". If not, they'd probably actually be the perfect characters to deal with the Thing. If not... well, it wouldn't work out quite as well, but I bet it'd look pretty awesome.

By the way, on a totally unrelated note, I can't help but frown a little when you act as if it was an inherently bad thing to use CGI instead of practical effects, since in the end, it's really a question of how well you use a toll, and not the tool itself. (heck, I'm not that big of a fan of the effects from the Jonh Carpenter film that well... have a rubbery feel and move like puppets a bit too often.) Though I guess that combining CG and practical could have been a very effective thing. FOr example, At the end of the third indiana jones film, they used various forms of digital models, practical models, makup and morphing to make the ageing of the villain, so going with a similar approach could have been smart.

That's a great idea Transformers Vs The Thing. The fact that the thing effects organic matter, it would have a hard time infecting if at all a cybertronian. Megatron would use it for his plan to turn earth into a new cybertron and Optimus and the autoboots would try and remove the thing to save the earth.

It really does feel like that Linkara, is the one Mechakara killed in his dimension, brought to life.
@docette20156 жыл бұрын
Okay, the theme for this year's Halloween comics seems to be "better than some of what came before in these franchises, but there's still some wasted potential." The Northman Nightmare is enjoyable as an AU take on the Thing's landing point, but I think your idea for the ending twist would have been better. The current one is good, but it does ape the end of Carpenter's, doesn't it? (Although admittedly, Carpenter's didn't give us a solid answer about if his last two characters were infected. . .) As for the storyline -- oooooh boy. So, I think most everybody agrees that Twokara is related to Mechakara, either being an amnesiac version or a restored version of the Linkara he killed to use as his meat components. I'd go with the latter, as it suggests the reason the Clonekara is missing is that Mechakara is looking for a fresh suit of flesh. . . MAN, that's creepy. Wow. But hey, I'm bracing myself for another surprise twist along the line. Hmmmm. . .
