“No one really cares what we wear.” This is so true and why people should really change their mindset and start dressing up for THEMSELVES, not anyone else. If it makes you feel good, DO IT. It really is life changing when you start to do things for yourself rather than anyone else, because when YOU feel good about yourself, others will start to perceive you more positively too. Try it and see for yourself!

But people actually do care what you wear if you're attracting attention or eclipsing them in some way! I used to dress for myself and still largely do but it was pointed out to me that I was the only woman in law school who "wore red lipstick" as if that were a crime, and I made some electric blue jodhpurs which I wore with a black mohair oversized sweater and black patent leather pointed short boots with zip at the back. I was just genuinely enjoying myself and I created a massive stir. Everyone knew who I was. It may not help that I'm tall as well. But I figured if not now then when? I was told "turn it down" but I realised it was getting up people's noses and I had to just not listen or I would become a mouse. Clothes are an important means of self expression and sometimes people just do not want to allow you to shine.

Good points. I also always try to remember, that unboxing and hauls does not mean that the person is actually keeping the stuff. They might order, unbox, show haul clothing with tags on, and send them all back 🤷♀️
@chloeanastazia73983 жыл бұрын
Many do that.... Which is not necessarily « wrong » but it does lead candid viewers to consume more and more as if it was normal. I, for instance, buy a lot online 🙈... however, once my packages arrive home, I try them on, inspecte the quality of the fabric which is hard to tell when shopping online, then only I keep the pieces that make me look like a million bucks. The WOUAH pieces. 😍😍😍..which are not that many!! However, it takes months or even years before I splurge on a designer handbag.... and even in that case, I’ll buy bags that I ADMIRE even if they’re not «trendy» anymore and the flock has moved on to another « it bag »... I don’t have time nor the desire to keep up with that... I focus on buying what I LOVE, what WOKRS FOR ME AND MY LIFESTYLE.

Such a great video! I totally agree about “classic” bags etc. My fave days were before IG etc and walking to a luxury store & picking a bag I loved just because I loved it. I feel there is so much pressure now to have all the “classics” first ... but truly they just don’t work for us all at the same time. 😩 when the client advisor in Chanel says "I can't believe you don't own a classic" 🤦♀️ my FOMO kicked in... even though i knew it wasn't for me! I always thought they were granny bags and impractical but I just have "sucker" written on my forehead... she brought the small and medium out for me and told me to try them and then I said oh you know what they don't look that big or frumpy. Maybe I should have just one. The thing is I didn't impulse buy on the spot. I went home and watched every YT video I could find and everyone raves about the classic flaps. So after I few months I decided I HAVE to have a M/L classic flap. Problem was - Chanel had just hiked their prices but I had made up my mind and ended up paying $2k aud more for a bag I thought I needed. Didn't use it for about 5 months not just because of the price but because I'm alway reaching for my WoCs and mini and small bags. Had the bag for maybe 10 months and used it twice. Once on a day out in the city where I was shopping and found it really impractical to get in and out of (double flap and small interior), and the second time I learned my lesson and took it to a Hamilton where I didn't really need to constantly open the bag. Don't get me wrong I'll never sell it now, but does it work for me? Right now, not really... I need to stop being so easily influenced by what people say and just go with my gut.

I love your point about not aspiring to be one of the fashion influencers because I honestly don’t hav the budget for it but it used to make me feel bad I couldn’t afford all these items. It certainly does make a lot of sense when it comes to regrets regarding FOMO. I would choose the vacation over the bag. I have made a mental note. I have watched videos in the past about how to save for luxury goods and they emphasize giving up eating out, coffees, vacations, which is basically all the things I enjoy. Eating out once a week does not make a huge dent in my budget like a luxury handbag does. I stopped watching those videos because I realized those are things I don’t want to give up to buy expensive stuff. I just want to enjoy a couple of items and live my life.

Having a clear visual on what I really want and why saved me a lot of credit card debt. I always think before buying something - am I just trying to make up for not being able to afford my wishlist yet? - because otherwise it’s just making me further away from what I really wanted in the first place. My resources are finite, so I have to be disciplined when shopping and the things I want are not trendy enough to make me fear they will be out of style when I actually can afford it. In the end, it all boils down to knowing myself. Personally, what makes my shopping experience much more enjoyable is when I buy anything without worrying about how much is it or if my card will be denied, it’s liberating!

But i am using it so much right now that I started to appreciate this bag more and more. And my one and only lady Dior in abc size. I think there is a balance to this. One extreme was my sister in law who didn’t get many luxury items even though she desired them. Then she was diagnosed with a terminal disease and bought what she wanted to enjoy in her last few months. Too late for my liking. I, on the other hand, need instant gratification, only to regret later, and have lost too much money in the process. I cover the one remaining spot in my collection with quick fixes rather than to wait and get what I really want (H Kelly 28). Working on this this year.

I have always choose trips over buying a LV or chanel handbag. My trips are usually so memorable and I get to expose my son to different cultures , people and food. A chanel handbag does not hold my items no better than a handbag that cost $600. However when I see my investments and my bank account that's what makes me happy. Thanks for sharing Eileen. Have a safe week.

Hi Eileen , great points again. I was always told when I was younger to make sure to save money as you never know what's around the corner. Obviously, it's nice to also treat yourself in something whatever it may be. As long as you enjoy that item....and brings you happiness and not guilt. Thanks again . Xxx

Eileen you keep my head in style & my feet on the ground😉🙏⭐️ A wish list for wardrobe & really any other important places in our lives, can truly keep us on track. I like Karma (formerly Shoptgr) for keeping wishlists & when those items are on sale. Buying more classic styles with multiple uses helps to keep those items in rotation. If you don’t find yourself utilizing most of what you own, those items can be removed. Over the years, I’ve had a few items I regretted selling & I bought them again. Those I know I love! I was able to purchase an amazing car a few years ago and for me, the shine has never left. I appreciate my car every time I drive her. She’s an Audi Q5 with a German name of course, Karlie💝I am a Motorsports lover & I feel so happy & grateful behind the wheel of Miss Karlie🏁 I think, as you’ve often discussed, that intentional shopping is the key🙏

I do genuinely enjoy the artistic and designs of certain luxurious things and would be very willing to pay/work my time for them instead of rationing from financial perspective, especially with an attitude that life is to savor/enjoy with mistakes and unsound discretions . With that said, your points have been like breeze to cool things when certain times I clearly knew I got deeper in certain directions. While I am still the reasonably unreasonable me inside, I take second/third thoughts to prioritize my desire/decisions, such as I feel more willing to wishlist a Hawaii vacation house instead of owning beautiful thing which will bring me joy. Money wise, it goes to more important place; and reality wise, owning less certainly benefit more to have a stress less life especially luxurious things do not seem to take a place in a side beach style life where I may only need comfortable clothes, canvas tote and sunscreen to feel good. Thank you.

Cheering at every point!! I definitely at one point had started consuming luxury bags like fast fashion. This past year I have stepped back and looked at my spending and wardrobe and am trying to focus on my finances (thankfully no debt to worry about!)

So true. I do like luxury items too but everything I bought and own have sentimental value. So many so called influencers or youtubers buy luxury on a regular basis…it seems like they are fixated on the next trendy thing rather than enjoying the item itself. Exactly like fast fashion. Also, we don’t know ppl’s financial situation. To me, luxury items should be bought when all your regular living expenses are well managed and you saved up extra to pamper or reward yourself. Ppl getting into debt from shopping is just sad. I used to watch videos on ppl doing review of the items before I go to the store but channels are now full of haul and unboxing videos…I don’t want to spend my precious time watching what ppl buy all day. A little dose is enough.

I totally agree with you on sooo many levels!!! Especially for the « timeless pieces » ... I suppose that each and everyone has at least one piece that fit like a glove. That looks like it was made especially for you.... well, that to me is a timeless piece!!!! As for handbags, I definitely don’t listen to others’ opinion, As a matter of fact, if I’m still in love ten or twenty’s years from now with my handbag... and the quality is top notch....well... that’s timeless to me!!!!

I am glad you are teaching young people about real luxury which is financial security in opposition to other vloggers on YT who constantly encourage them on spending money on the things they don’t need....leaving most of them with massive credit card debt

You are right. No one cares what we wear and no one cares whether our makeup is from one luxury brand as compared to one from a drug store so long as it looks good on us. In fact there is hardly any difference. I say this as someone who did makeup for other people for a few years when I was in between careers. I was just buying Huda, Mac, Anastasia etc for my clients and honestly I realised later that they are just the same as some drug store ones. None of my clients even cared what I put on their face as long as it looked good. I now have quite a few luxury makeup sets that I just admire and will give out to friends in Nigeria whenever I am able to travel back home again :)

I would rather go to Bali. Thank you so much for this video. When I 1st started watching KZbin videos...I thought of myself as a failure bc I couldn't buy the newest handbag, shoes or jewelry. Now when I look back I'm so glad I couldn't afford those items. Because I didn't really like them and I was just caught up in the hype. Now I really have to love an item before I purchase it.

With your question it very much depends on what is going on in my life at the time. I did prioritise travel and then my house for many years over luxury but it has changed in recent years. Due to circumstances beyond my control travel has been out of the question for the past 5 years or so and I won’t be able to go anywhere until at least 2024, so I have prioritised luxury. After 2024 that will probably change again.
