I got into GU after playing through Iceborne and Rise, and all its done is increase my love and appreciation for MH as a whole. It's been a blast so far. My hunting buddies and I just got to G Rank a couple of nights ago, and we're all extremely excited for the content ahead of us

Same! GU has blown me away and I don't understand the weird comparisons to Rise. They're both very different games and both very fun. Rise is cinematic action, whereas GU is more tactical thrills.

Prowler's Mobility and Utility is far superior to any of the 14 weapons and that's why people look down on it as "easy mode". It's not necessarily a bad thing. My friends call me a noob for favouring Adept style on my Dual Blades

@@tehnygaming Oh no Adept Dual Blades is a different story. You see there isn't a follow up attack because the Adept Dodge itself is what deals damage. Furthermore, after performing that Adept dodge you can also do upto 2 sprints that have full I-frames and don't cost any stamina at all. It's one of the strongest weapon/style combinations in the game because of how safe it is.

started with FU as a kid when my uncle gave me his psp, was a scrub completely disregarding the skill system but got the movement down, then played 3U and was an idiot and did guild instead of village (3ds solo since you only get local play on it), then saw GU discounted someday and that truly got me into MH. when Rise came out I decided to go and play most of the games I felt were worth playing (played World but I find it mediocre, still on GU Deviant grind, did 3U village, recently managed to get a cheap copy of 4u and still got FU and Portable 3rd on my plate)

Generations Ultimate still has one of my favorite Monster Hunter soundtracks. Ever. Rise better not pull any punches with it's music in the ultimate edition or it'll have a tough time breaking through to my number one spot.

In response to 1:16:50 Gaijin, the whole thing with MTG sideboards (or sidedecks, however you wanna call em) is that they are to be used in Tournaments, where you play best of 3 / best of 5 matches, and after the first match, you can side-in any number of cards from your sideboard. It's not like you'll know what decks your opponents will be playing when you go to a tournament, you can only make a sideboard for the things you EXPECT to be facing. I do agree that using the sideboard when playing with a friend can be weird (unless you are playtesting for a tournament, of course).

I had so many funny experiences with Prowlers in XX back before GU came out. People used to get really into role-playing it and typing with the Japanese cat puns. It was kind of cute. They'd always beg me not to leave when I had to quit, too. Probably because of that anti-Prowler bias that kept others from joining.

ooooh its my chance to be THAT GUY! Sideboard in competitive magic is good. It gives decks a chance against other decks that are bad matchups. There is opportunity cost to running an anti white card as you stated and so the player has to think about what tools in their sideboard will generally be the best to cover ALL matchups. Usually they build against the meta, since those will be the decks they are most likely to see. This is also why building interesting and effective decks outside the meta can be rewarding. My 2 cents as a competitive Standard Magic player for a bunch of years. (10th edition to like the rerelease of ravnica)

Is it just me who thinks this but i see much more people play MHGU. Everytime a go online there's a bunch of low rank players going thru the game for the first time and a lot of high level players still farm monsters. I'm really glad more and more people discover GU, such a good MH game.

I definitely want to jump into Generations Ultimate after Rise Ultimate comes out and there's a long gap for the Nintendo side of MH games. But damnit if I don't keep slowly remembering all the things that World and Rise left behind. Yesterday I remembered I'll need to craft separate armor for my blades and guns.

classic mh certainly have deep complexity to it. it isnt forgiving as newer mh. the problem with newcomer is that often they got spoiled with QoL in newer titles thus its 50-50 whether they enjoy the classic or not. if you're willing to look behind the QoL you'll unlock the awesome content in classic mh

The bit about using bloodlust on a level one goblin twice to do nine damage, only to use fling to kill the goblin and do nine more damage just made me laugh. The Whole time he was talking about this, I imagined it happening in my head with a big hob goblin tossing the little goblin beaming the sorcerer in the face, all the other goblins cackling like lunatics after. I’m sorry, but I just love that sort of crazy stuff in any fantasy game period.

Gaijin, if you wanna get her really mesmerized and concentrated on completing a deviant, tell her to bring adept long sword for silver wing Nargacuga to get the full upgrade of the silver wing long sword. When I did it, oh man did it ever give me a tick whenever a normal Nargacuga moved. That was fun!

Makes me sad to hear HH and prowler are bottom teir in MHGU. I got my friend and my daughter playing prowler mode and we trounced it within 2 days, those cats were so OP by the time we finished. When I solod I used HH and getting into G Rank with it was the most challenging thing, and I did a run through with every weapon in GU.

"The Dirty secrets of the GUILD." Dude, I'm p-sure it's just Wyverians in general. Espeacially the older ones, they know shit and they're keeping things way under wraps. Like even the conception of the "Wyacademy" which sounds like the same overall idea as the Royal Paleontological Scriviners EXCEPT they're way more under the thumb of the Guild, which is overall ran by Wyverians. There's also the fact that Wyverians are basically just Elven dragon born. This just adds to their shadiness. Iunno man, a race that's been around that long, and has potentially seen an entire Civ collapse and they just keep their mouths shut under the ruse of, "OH that was a legend."

Pokemon Sword & Shield: Had the National Dex Cut, upset millions of fans and People still bought it. MH Stories 2: Better in everyway and not as many people are buying it because "It's not for Me," or "I don't like turn based."

Pokemon fanbase is larger and older where as Stories is recent, alot of people who got into MHS2 never played MH or know it but got Stories2 because it's like Pokemon but MH. And from what i heard Pokemon recently dropped an update to up their game as well. Give it a few years and with the pace strories series is going it may take over if Pokemon keeps going in the direction it is.

To the first point with Pokémon, I think they just know their games print money no matter if they cut corners and rehash the same stuff like they've been doing in the past few generations. I'm thinking of canceling my Diamond remake preorder because nostalgia pulled me in but really, I could just replay Pearl on my 3DS lol. As for the second point, I agree it's disheartening to hear so many people just say "I don't like turn based" yet those ppl play pokemon lol. There's a lot of people out there who play pokemon but are afraid to branch out and try other great turn based games. Tbh it took me a while to even open my mind to it but I think a well built system is crucial and a really appealing theme is a great thing to pull players in. Like I love Stories bc it's MH, I love Yakuza Like a Dragon bc it's Yakuza, but they're great RPGs regardless

Coming from Rise, I just started GU n holy moly what a difference. Stupid-ass wirebugs, what have you done to me? N these cats dont shut up. But I still love it. I'm sad people don't join cat , i don't play cat ( except for specific quest ) but I don't mind if people play cat, cat don't hit hard but are quick and easy to learn , you just kill the monster almost like other weapon if you know what you're doing For animation the monster how love the most is probably malfestio , he have so much detail and move like a real owl And for gaijin just do the video, we all think something different and I agree with you, a lot of people don't know how to criticize a game

Withholding MHXX back in 2017 was very low, especially since MHG was released 6 months ago. Glad Capcom eventually released MHGU, but unfortunate that it was only on Switch and not on 3DS too. Fortunately, thanks to MHW and MHWI, which turned MH from a niche franchise into a Hit in the West, everything from now on will be global release. MHXX and MHportable3rd scenarios are now things of the past.
