So, I fucking love the concept of the Equal Dragon Weapon. I really want them to dabble more into the Ancient Civ stuff TBH, it's such a weird little nugget of lore that I love and would love to see more of.
@stephenjohn21313 жыл бұрын
After the appearance of Toadversaries in Kamura village training area and buddy plaza made by Hamon, who could say may be MH team will use it someday. Although many would disagree with us two, it would be interesting to go through the ancient civilization quest line one day in Rise or next MH and the story takes us into abandoned island or some undiscovered city where once ancient civilization once thrived, it would be really interesting.
@Azarian3 жыл бұрын
@@stephenjohn2131 Totally. There's a lot of weird stuff here and there that really shows just how bonkers the ancient civ was when it comes to how advanced they were. If you look at the Ahtal Ka fight, the big massive "Mecha" suit it makes, the stone has rebar in it. Rebar wasn't invented properly TMK till the mid 1900's or so. Then there's just how bonkers some of the weapons are. Namly the Charge Blade and Switch Axe.
@stephenjohn21313 жыл бұрын
@@Azarian I always get exited whenever someone discusses this. The details you noticed about Ahtal-Ka are fascinating. And yes the Ancient civilization is indeed bonkers for creating these weapons. Am a Chargeblade main and in hunts every now and then my thoughts get carried away thinking of the original blue prints of how AC created this weapon. And every smith uses their own method to adjust to hunters need. Hence the differences in every game imo. What is more curious to me than their craft is their absence. We see their structures, monuments and crafts everywhere but no where in any game do we find someone who has an idea on it's origin. Their story is much like dwarves lore in Skyrim who were also technologically much more advanced much like AC from MH. we see their pyramids, towers and a fully abandoned kingdom of shrade whilst having no clue about them. I hope the future games or Rise touches this path and involve it in game play one day. Lore is always there despite many others say MH doesn't, it's just that some look, read item descriptions and pay attention more than others. Iam all in for extra lore in MH games in the future.
@Azarian3 жыл бұрын
@@stephenjohn2131 I could talk hours about MH lore theory crafting. I uh. May or may not be concepting an entire fan village around the idea of them specifically studying the AC. Even including a Scriviner who was assigned there to find out the exact relation the AC has with Monsters in general.

It's weird to me that they always mention the deco grind in World. I never really felt compelled to do that. The way they handled Guard Up/Mighty Bow/Magazine was absolutely criminal, but besides those I always felt like I had the decos to make builds I was happy with. Since Rise is a touch more stingy with the amount of skills you get, you gotta be a bit more deliberate with your builds, so I'm glad they shifted to making them craftable.

After hearing about this from a past podcast with BannedLagiacrus, I did some digging on Fatalis: according to the 15th anniversary pamphlet for the Forbidden Monsters expedition, *it is debunked that Fatalis melts hunters. He does not. He lays on the armor and his pure body heat melts it into his hide.* Maybe if Gaijin has one he can confirm this since it would be, of course, written in Japanese and I can't find it anywhere? Also, does anyone else think the chest should have been Fatalis's weak point and not the horns? His horns are hard to break for one, and each black dragon should have their own gimmick. Alatreon had horns and it made sense.

Just as I am listening, so I don't forget. There is another way to get the downy crake. Do the cat trade quest in Iceborne. The damn cat hands you one in exchange for a megapotion. I about fell over. How many hours did I track that thing? Second, perhaps the blast nono on Alatreon in Iceborne was because he got so tore up in 3U by that damn slime kelbi bow? Jay, if you are going to do GU, just remember, like Smash Ultimate, you are also dealing with multiple fetch and gathering quests. Many more than in a single game and the solo path pretty much requires them all. Once you finish them, the game blossoms, but it's gathering fest hell to start. It has been a pleasure to watch you grow into the MH community, sir. Frustrating sometimes, yes, but a pleasure.

I'm not sure if Hey Jay can see this comment but this is regarding GU (get GU aka Generations ultimate, don't get the previous version. Believe me, you get more help in gu). So as pointed out in the podcast the movement of the hunter compared to world and rise? is VERY noticeable and making a pledge (like the one you did in world) will help you get used to this kind of movement. HOWEVER it is a pledge of pain, let me explain. as you know School's have exams in paper in which you write based on the answers you studied. However like any exam on paper, when you actually take the exam ON THE FIELD (which is mostly projects or proving something) it is VASTLY different from writing on paper. That's how GU is, you have the controls on the menu and you can look at the weapon controls and hunter controls to see how they work, unfortunately however there is NO training area. this means you must learn on the go, take a mission, go to a monster and learn the weapon. It shouldn't be too hard if you're planning on using Switch Axe, however like the guys said, the playstyle changes depending on the style you chose. GU is honestly a fun game to play at your own pace and time, don't rush it, take it easy (it took me 2 years to finish the game and stay in a comfy place until GU appeared). At best? finish village story and if you are use to the controls and want to experience the true beauty of GU, do the hub quest story. Village does a fantastic job in demonstrating why GU is an anniversary and fun to keep playing, but hub? hoooly, it's life 50% is on Village and 50% is on Hub. As mentioned, the health for the monsters in Hub is already scaled to full multiplayer, BUT it's still possible to solo it, some hunts for me took me to 20 to 15 minutes, so it's kind of reasonable. GU is like that favorite class with your favorite teacher and at the end of the class, which was also the one that had the recess time, the teacher would often host a videogame show in the recess time or after the recess since it was the last class (for us students it was like finding a safe haven of the entire school). However even though it had our favorite teacher and favorite class to learn, it is still a class and we will still need to take exams and study for it and bring assignments. If you fail the exam, the teacher would console and always be there to help you try again were you to fail. It would not decrease the difficulty for you, however the teacher would give you time to learn and keep trying and failing again, until you succeed and you feel accomplished and ready to continue. That was my experience with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, I failed many times but i learned and tried again until i finally beat it, and I never felt more fulfilled in my life beating that game and it was thanks to this game i knew how to deal with many other monsters in world and rise. This game takes a lot of dedication and time for you to love it, just like how you make a couple in real life. It takes time to build the relationship. Think of GU like the grandma of Rise, World is the gf and Rise is the gf's little sister. Gramma's from the old age and not versatile like her young ones but dammit is she fun to hang out. She can rock, she takes you to see DBS the movie, she gives helpful tips on future problems and always tries her best to make us happy, regardless of the method. I know I'm talking too much but GU is actually something hard to express into words as to why i still love it. It might not be your type of game, but you can see WHY people love it and i think that should be enough for any GU fan. Just people understanding why you like it. Well at least for me, it's enough. TLDR; GU is VASTLY different from World and Rise. If you talked to some players in World (pre iceborne and some dlc's), some of them would tell you that they went back to GU because World was currently on content drought and GU still had a massive content bounty. Which is basically what Rise is suffering atm, content drought.

Psst... you guys should try Ys series. Start from any order but the even the first one is awesome if you like pixelated retro gaming (once you understand the bumper attack mechanism - tip: attack diagonally) to this day, it strange that it’s such an under rated series, not to mention awesome OST too...

Project rainfall consisted of Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story and Pandoras Tower. I didn't get to buy them as by the time I wanted to get them, they had become quite rare and very expensive. Even now they are expensive to pick up

Pandora's Tower can be found for cheap if you search for it, i think... not sure. I picked up a "new used" copy at a Gamestop in Germany about 2 years ago for 20€.

Hey Jay!: "How much do you guys trim this?" Hayao Miyazaki: "NO CUTS!"

Personally I like World so much more, because it felt like a hunt. Rise feels like an arcade game.

Love seeing Jay on here. I still can't beat Alatreon even with full Fatalis armor. There are several monsters I still can't beat in World/Iceborne. I also main switch axe by the way.

Do you mean you can't beat it solo? Saying you can't beat it, yet have fatalis armor, leads one to believe you did some save editing, so I'm going to assume you just meant you can't solo it yet
@CreepyCoconuts3 жыл бұрын
@@AkariRosumashi I can't beat them solo. I have the fatalis armor because of breaking his head once every couple of failed hunts. It took a long time to be able to make his armor. I don't know how to do save editing nor would I because I pride myself on everything I've accomplished in the game by myself.

With Fatalis gear, you'll only need to focus on raw power. And bring dragon mantle for extra boost for your dragon element.

Great episode. I just wish there was some kind of low-key MH background music though.
