Hello May, from what I know Shambhavi Mahamudra is a part of the Isha Yoga practices. I am not familiar with them. Shambhavi mudra on the other hand is simply gazing at the third eye location with the eyes open or closed.

Happy New Year Subhash, its so kind of you to reply . Thank you so much for your time and effort, i am grateful for what you are doing. I do have a muscle condition which its very disabling me to do simple task. what kind of pranayama would you reccomend me to do in order to help restore the immune system and the whole body muscle. thanks a lot again for your help. have a good day. i do not find many teachers that reply people comments, its really great of you. have a good day .may
@SubhashMittal6 жыл бұрын
Hi May, I think a good combination of practices like Kapalabhati, bhastrika, bhramari and alternate nostril breathing (nadi shuddhi/anuloma viloma) should help with the immune system. The key is to develop a regular ongoing practice of asana, pranayama and meditation for overall physical and mental health.

Sir please suggest breathing exercises for heart patients
@SubhashMittal4 жыл бұрын
For heart patients, I recommend only those practices that involve long, deep breaths. These include Ujjayi pranayama, Bhramari and Nadi Shuddhi. Avoid kapalabhati and bhastrika etc.

Namastey. I am a practising pranayamas recently . And while practising bandhas,usually in case of neck bandha I lock my chin after Inhalation. And after I unlock it and exhale I couldn't exhale.completely after 2/3 rounds . So it is appropriate technique to breathe natural breathe in between and again continue the bandhas? Will the essence be u harmed yet? Thank you guru in Advance

How long should one aim to hold the locks?
@SubhashMittal4 жыл бұрын
That depends upon your lung capacity. The general guideline is that you should hold the bandhas for a duration that does not impact the quality and depth of the subsequent breath - inhalation or exhalation.

Sir do you suggest any breathing techniques for cervical dystonia
@SubhashMittal5 жыл бұрын
I have no direct experience with cervical dystonia. In my opinion, kapalabhati and alternate nostril breathing should help cleanse the system and improve blood circulation. In addition, you may also practice some gentle asana sequence, avoiding poses that engage the neck too much. Hope that helps. All the best.

how long or how long can we do prana lock ??
@SubhashMittal5 жыл бұрын
The key guideline is "as long as comfortable". It also depends upon what pranayama practice you are doing. For example, in Nadi shuddhi (anuloma viloma) pranayama, the ratio of inhale:exhale should be 1:2. If you incorporate bandhas into the practice, you want to make sure that the duration of the bandhas does not impact the 1:2 ratio.

Hi sir . In kapalabathi practice . The tongue should be touching the palate or not ?
@SubhashMittal6 жыл бұрын
Hello Hari Babu, when the tongue touches the palate and is rolled further back, it is called the Khechari Mudra. Application of this mudra during kapalabhati is an advanced option. If you are comfortable with khechari mudra you can definitely apply it during kapalabhati. Otherwise, the tongue should be relaxed.

Hi sir . I have 2 more doubts . I do samadhi meditation everyday , learnt from siddha samadhi yoga from bangalore . My doubt is During samadhi meditation my tongue should not touch the palat ? Next my neck should be kept straight or should i bend ? Please clarify . Regards
@SubhashMittal6 жыл бұрын
If you are comfortable with Khechari mudra, you can keep the tongue touching the upper palate during meditation. Otherwise keep the tongue relaxed. The neck should be comfortably straight, not bent. There should be no strain felt in the neck.

Subhash Mittal : Can you please clarify when doing the Maha Bandha, what is the sequence of the locks for placing them and for releasing them. As in do you first do the neck lock and then proceed downwards holding the breath or is it the opposite? Please advise. Thanks so much!
@SubhashMittal6 жыл бұрын
Hello Hari Babu, the tongue touching the palate (and beyond) is a special mudra called "khechari mudra". It can be practiced during the practice of dharana which is when you bring the mind to an initial state of focus. During meditation, you don't apply the khechari mudra. Also, the neck should be straight but relaxed.
@SubhashMittal6 жыл бұрын
Hello Carolina, in the yoga texts that i have read, I haven't seen any specific sequence to be followed for maha bandha. In my own practice, I hold the breath and then apply the chin lock, navel lock and the root lock - in that sequence.
