Interpreting subsurface geology and forecasting location of planar geological boundaries on maps using the "three point problem" - a construction technique illustrated here using bore hole information. When you started to find the dip, why did you subtract the elevation between the 300m line and 100m line rather than subtracting the elevations between the B (the lowest point) and C (the highest point)?

Simply to make the calculation easier to visualise .... it depends on what precision you desire ....

And of course, to calculate the TRUE dip, you need to measure perpendicular to the structure contours.....
