The 50/50/90 rule exists because most of the time, you make small assumptions while doing work, yet you only notice them when they burn you. It's a kind of survivorship bias. That, and the fact that you always want to err on the conservative side.

All the new contraptions and mechanics for trolls are awesome, but I think it needs to be appreciated that the smaller things like the new music options also add a lot to the quality of trolls. The Mario 64 slide music in general, the Mario Kart music when you're suffering through a slow section, the sad "Double Doors" (Lyrics by Larl) music, etc. Definitely a better music selection for trolls than SMM1 had. :D

i was gonna comment on how well designed that second level was, how in the process of trolling the player it teaches the player the correct mechanism for progressing, and how it also didn't rely on scouring every nook and cranny for a hidden block or knowing an obscure glitch...and then it went and hid the goal behind a note block with no clues

"how do you get 2 springs on a top of each other like that?" It's on tracks, if you place something on a track that makes it fall into another track, it will overlap with whatever's there already. Putting two springs in a way that they fall into each other will produce that effect.

the on off block setup is shell shot from a spring fallign on in bouncing in a tunnel with a red on off block and then a on off block and somehow also has a tunnel of brick blocks, likely another tunnel. I don't know how, but it does it using those gizmos.
