Bad release date, very narrow actual market demographic targetted by the advertising, and thed VFX Work even at the time would look bad in a Theater but great in your house. We normally call poor budget movies B movies, but Real Steel is legitimately a B movie. its better then most B movies with no real bad acting, script, or effects work, but its NOT good enough for anything its trying to do to be an A Grade Blockbuster and its not entertaining to be a true Popcorn Slammer.

They brought up the fact that not only did they use real models for most of the non fight scenes but that it was also filmed in a way only one other was up to that point. Noisy Boy Vs Midas was like taking superbantamweight boxing champion Naoya "Monster" Inoue, and dropping him in the octagon against the Muay Thai godking, Rodtang "Iron Man" Jitmuagnon. Meanwhile, training Atom and building off his strengths of speed, small size, and durability? That's like Manny Pacquiao finding Freddie Roach, Mike Tyson finding Cus d'Amato, or Dwight Muhammad Qawi finding Joe Briscoe. And from the streets and junk heap, a champion was fostered.

As someone who was the battery guy for my robotics team, a battery that dies even slightly faster will make a very noticeable difference. That huge body and heavy, charge up fists has to take a lot of power to move. It just wasn't designed for longevity. If anyone wants to watch something in the same vein as Real Steel, there's an anime out there called Megalobox. It has the same premise as the movie only instead of robots boxing it's humans with exoskeleton-like enhancements called 'gear'. The main character fights in the championship, but opts to not use gear and just uses straight up talent, going under the moniker "Gearless Joe." I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a good time and has great fights.

Sure, he might have defended the championship, but he also lost in other things: - Zeus is one of, if not, the latest model in boxing robots. And made by a legendary bot designer. Yet, he somehow got tired out and KO'ed by an older generation bot from the junkyard who apparently had no upgrades aside from the Noisy Boy voice modulator. - Zeus was also running on low power by the end of the fight. Had they gone through another round, Zeus would've been cooked the moment the round began. - Zeus' reputation was also hurt bad. Very bad. Up until the fight with Atom, bots that went up against Zeus only went for one round before they hit the junkyard. With Atom, he kept Zeus going on for the full 5 rounds, a feat that nobody else had done. - The gimmick for Zeus is that he's able to study the movement and attack patterns of his opponants then rewrite his code on the fly to counter them. Atom had the speed, maneuverability and the unpredictability of a human boxer which would cause Zeus to be somewhat confused.

I love the concept for this movie. Nobody expects this underdog training bot to be top G, but when you really consider it, this is the sensei to all other bots. He is literally built to take hits and never stop taking hits. After all, what good is a training bot if it's taken out easily? You can knock it out, but it's built to ALWAYS get back up. That right there is inspiration to us all.

By the way, for those who are curious why Atom was able to absorb so much damage from Zeus or other bots in general. Is because Atom is a sparring/training bot which means during his development his build have to super durable for the other bots to train when sparring with him. Not to mention the shadow boxing features, the coach or shadow user would use it as a way for the other boxer who uses controller to practice against Atom.
