That SH3 reference (room 106 in Jack's Inn) made me so happy! There's also another easter egg within the room, if you visit it again during the Otherworld streets, there will be a Halo of the Sun symbol on the wall above the bed.

The story Maria tells about the candle statue is different from the real one you can read on the Historical society, were the man drowned for chasing the moon reflection as it was shinier than the candle, not from a storm. Maria hides the lesson of not chasing illusions. Lots of thought put into things like that in this remake, it's very good.

That's something I actually didn't know about the original. When I saw that scene I thought that they made up something entirely new to pad the time lmao. I guess I always just overlooked that detail

Not gonna lie, my expectations were low the first time we had a look at this game, especially since all the subpar late SH games and the absolute sh*tshow Ascension was. But jesus christ, even though my expectations skyrocketed in the weeks before release, Bloober managed to knock them out of the park and all the way to the moon with the final product. All interiors are perfect, the characters look awesome and the pure terror you feel in some places where it's only you, your flashlight and your wooden board against a pitch black corridor with weird noises at the end of it and your radio going crazier for every step you take is something else. I legit ran quite a lot of times to the nearest saving point to gather some courage and try again. I'm truly, truly, TRULY thankful to Bloober for what they've done. This game is to both Silent Hill 2 and the franchise as a whole what REmake was to RE1 and the franchise.

I'm also surprised at the output. I feel like i have doubts it would have been as great if there wasn't such a large team of advisors working with them to keep them on track. Not to mention Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka. I'll be on board for them to remake other SH games assuming they can maintain these advisory teams lol

I was singing the games praises on another video, and some guy told me all the reviews were mainly negative before they were removed. He also called it a "Last of us ripoff simulator." People like that guy are impossible. I've played a few hours, and it blew me away very quickly. The funny thing is, the majority of videos I see on KZbin are praising it. The atmosphere and exploration is pretty much perfect.

I don't see the similarity either, haha. Personally, I think the remake is how the game would have been if the original was released today. I mean, what could possibly be done differently? The game makes me wary about if / when / how I should engage with the monsters, and that's just on normal difficulty. It makes me cautious about moving forward, but not too comfortable in staying put either. They've done really well. Imagine them doing Silent Hill P.T.

@@stefanjackson1127 I played on Hard and got my ass kicked for a good 40% of the game, but I became a godlike monster killing machine by the end of the game. Then I got to the final boss and I actually gave up for the night, but finally beat it after a good night's sleep 💪

This game looks great, even in 1080p, DLSS Koala Tea mode with High textures, low shadows and medium shaders. I highly recommend 1080p if anyone has a 8GB card cause at 1440p it runs very close to the VRAM limit.
