Thanks for the story, LD. The addictive personality is far more common than we think. The sheer number of grossly overweight people walking around are almost always addicted to junk food. So, there are other substances besides alcohol and drugs that are addictive and put people's lives in danger.

My ex husband started on weed as young person. I was naive when we got married. He seem clean guy. Later in our marriage his addiction went from weed to alcohol. We ended up in divorce. I believe “Weed is the gateway drug” leads to bigger things. He was an alcoholic most of his life. He was homeless. My daughter was estranged. We were shocked to hear that alcohol ruin his life. He was a chef and got fired for drinking. Such a sad story.

I had the same experience-with broccoli laced with PCP. It made me temporarily very psychotic. I knew I'd have to unalive myself if I didn't come down. Since then, which was decades ago, I can't stand to smell broccoli smoke. It gives me a psychotic flashback. I think buying w33d in the 90s was like this everywhere lol! I got robbed many times as a 110 pound 16-17 year old selling dime bags in my grimy downtown lmao!!! I never went on to bully/rob anyone weaker than me but i did start carrying extendable batons and bear spray around 18-19 lol! You go to prison for years in Canada if you get caught with a loaded hand gun so the bear spray is the best bet for those grimy 90s tiny amounts of w33d handoffs lol! Its hilarious now you can go and buy an ounce of flower or a quarter of h@sh or a gram of concentrates at a legal dispensary! But you can literally just hit up 5 different dispensaries in a day and get 5 ounces lol! Or up here in Canada anyway you can go to a Native Resreve and buy a kilo of anything at a smoke shop! I find it crazy how in the 90s these violent robberies went down for a few grams of like probably 6% thc bud lmao!!!

When we were very young my brother and I were nearly killed by 4 black teenagers. They robbed us and were racist as well. Listening to this brought back all of that to my gut. I had to sit down on the ground, not watch the screen and just listen. It was horribly traumatic ... I just couldn't believe how set they were on destroying us. Oddly though , it made me a much braver person in the long run. I don't fear being out in the dark or having something like that happen again because I've ALREADY gone through it. Obviously I don't look for it, LOL. (Our was not drug related . . . so there wasn't a sense of feeling like we put ourselves in that situation. I imagine it was worse for you because you probably felt guilt after). We didn't know that the apartments had been converted to projects & this was maybe just a half mile from my home. For a long time I was super afraid of anyone who even looked remotely like them. That was a tough, tough time for me especially as my brother got over it much much faster than I did but I'm good now 🙂. You poor guy, I know exactly what that must have felt like for you. So glad you made it. 🙂
