@11:15 - when you absolutely cannot afford to have a “running into the kicker” penalty, why don’t specially team coaches call a punt return play that completely mitigates that risk? Any Texas fans will remember the 2003 Big 12 championship game against Colorado where an insanely epic 28 point comeback was spoiled for the same reason. Why THEE FUCK are you sending anyone to block to punt? All you need to do is secure the punt and get your offense back on the field. The benefit of a potential blocked punt Is not with the risk. I agree. Never understood why special teams does that. In this situation, you described it perfectly. you shouldn’t take a chance to block it especially when they’re so deep in their territory. Get guys back to block and set up a drive.

Very few people make this point and just complain about the officials throwing the flag (which was the right call). MSU coaches put themselves in that position. I get that MSU blocked a Wisconsin punt earlier in the year. However, when you look at how poorly Wisconsin's defense played in this game, and really throughout that entire 2011 season, securing the punt would have been the right decision.

MSU had this game STOLEN. At the very end of the game keshawn Martin took a punt all the way back to within the 5 or 10 yard line and the refs threw a roughing the kicker flag because Isaiah Lewis GRAZED the punter’s leg and he acted like he got hit by a semi truck. Biggest flop I’ve ever seen. I get it’s a rule but for 16 year old me, after such a good game, it was a huge disappointment. Glad we made it to the rose bowl in 2013!!!
