You can definitely get some good deals on tires, especially on Tire Rack. I got a pair of Continental ExtremeContact DW tires in 275/35/18 on sale for like $118 each, which was a downright bargain.

That's a pretty standard rear tyre from an older AMG Mercedes where you can spin the rear wheels despite the traction control. They do eat tyres, especially the rear ones. I have heard tales of some AMGs eating rear tyres in 1,000 miles...

The uneven wear on the inside of that tyre suggests a tracking problem. I would get the car aligned and tracked.

I actually like the rims, but if you want to change it, check out the AMG rims on the 63s and 65s from the 2009-2012 facelift car. Also, you should replace the brake light with a gray one from the 2007-2012 AMGs. These will modernize the car in my opinion

I've had 3 of these cars. Currently running a low mileage 2007 F1 pack car. Personally I would have stuck with factory Pirelli's . Do you have water ingress in boot, I'd be shocked if you don't? Likeiy you'll need to change rear boot / rear window seal...... worth checking out. Gearbox oil.... worth changing I think they have independent filter. If car has been abused so would the trans, odds on oil hasn't berm changed for a while. Other tell tale is supercharger bearings? Best of luck

When I bought my SL55, it had the same issue with the tires on all 4 corners.... these things eat the inside of each tire, especially with ABC on low setting.

Have you figured out why the head unit isn't producing any sound? My money is on that butcher job of an install bypassed the Most Amp when they added a sub and ran all channels off of an aftermarket 5 channel amp. That long of a drive with no music is torture.

I think you are wrong about the wheels bro, Turbofin style wheels are iconic on MB's like the Le Mans or DTM series. Perhaps if you up the size simply, you will like em more, but thinner sidewall is not always the best. Or go for same size and style but with a lip.

Sumitomo Tires are a nice tire but only the Japanese made ones.. They are too soft of a tire for that bad boy and it will eat them up. Be careful cause after half life they tend to hydroplane.

@ 3:31 - This is a cringe too see, the yellow dot marker on the wheel needs to be aligned with the valve to take the valve weight into account. So you need less weights to balance the wheel. Go back to the tire shop and tell them they do their job poorly...

Looks like you had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires that you took off. If so you should NOT have a performance summer tires mixed with an All Season tire.
