I'm an idiot with one tooth, who reacts to stuff when I have nothing better to do. Because that seems to be what all the cool people are doing these days.
Firstly, apologies to everyone for not being around recently - I have a lot of battles - mostly mental, that I'm fighting right now, and so haven't had the motivation to sit here and put videos out.
Today I'm listening to a cover, which I think is only the second time. But this one is INCREDIBLE!
The song is Lose Yourself, by Eminem, but this is a cover by an artist I've never heard of called Kasey Chambers - I'm definitely going to be checking out more of her work though. You can find the link to the original song here;

This song has EVERYTHING - emotion for days, passion, an astonishing voice, great instrumentation. This is basically the greatest cover of any song, ever, by anyone.

Kasey's reconstruction of this masterpiece is phenomenal. Where Em sings "I gotta FIGHT this" Kasey sings "I gotta fight THIS" which becomes a much more harrowing story. I'm not surprised you felt it given what you've just shared with us regarding the crossroads you are at. I hope you find some answers soon, and in the meantime just do the job that's in front of you ✌️

I’m Kasey Chambers convert since she was playing in her family’s band ‘The Dead Ringer Band’ - I first saw her perform when she was about 17-18-19 years old - was totally blown away. Seriously one of the most talented people on the planet. As well as being the Archangel of Angst. Your next Reaction should be to ‘Ain’t No Little Girl’

I have been a Kasey Chambers fan for decades, but this performance is legendary. I have never seen a singer pour that much emotion, passion and pain into a song. She left absolutely everything on that stage and you were right when you said she has experienced a lot of pain in her life (including losing a child). I can certainly understand if it was even more impactful for you given what you are going through. I do hope it works out for you. Just a bit of background Kasey is an Australian country artist who is practically music royalty in Australia (she's the youngest person to ever be inducted into their recording artist hall of fame), but is not well-known elsewhere sadly. One clever thing she does is when the full band kicks in she switches from third person to first person, so it does become HER story at that point. I've listened to this song almost every day for over a year. It. Never. Loses. Its. Impact. She has lived this almost as much as Em, & it shows in this performance. Kasey's journey in 3 easy steps: 1) The Captain; 2) (Am I) Not Pretty Enough; 3) Ain't No Little Girl.

I'm completely addicted to watching reactions to this song, similar to the way I was with the song "Je Suis Malade" by Lara Fabian a few years ago. I'm one of the few that had never actually heard Lose Yourself before I saw this video. Soon I was renting 8 Mile and then the reactions... My favorite performance of any song these days

Thank you for sharing! So many people have drawn inspiration from EM 's version. I draw inspiration from Kasey's. Last year my partner of 26 years lost his own battle, and I have lost count how many times I have watched this or listened in my car.... There is almost nothing else to compare it to. Her first song was " the captain " which got played on independant radio. "Am i not prety enough" was her first comercial hit and it is self explanitery as to her strugle in the muusic industty. Please dont grade my grammer.😉
