Ah, the infamous fountain hook, the part where I lost all respect towards Loda. Also, just a bit of a trivia for the fountain hook for those that doesn't play Dota, it's actually been in the game from the start, but it's REALLY hard to do. Even if you get it right, it'll still be a 4v4 with a chance of your team messing up. It's only patched because Navi showed what it can do when it's times so well so many times and they managed to pull a comeback from a teamfight after it.

I’m not sure if it counts, but the flip reset mechanic in Rocket League is a pretty important part of professional play now, and it wasn’t really meant to be there. When you touch all four wheels to the ball, and don’t jump, you have a second flip for as long as your in the air, which gives you a ton of options for finishing and surprising your opponent.
@Neogears13125 жыл бұрын
2:40 actually that’s incorrect. They originally thought this was too strong and made a patched build where it was gone. The devs then realized “wow this is very boring now”.

The Roshan bug cannot even compare to the Sniper bug that I ended up experiencing and using twice accidentally. The bug goes like this, the sniper player in my team disconnected in the game and didn't return, at this point, I didn't really see how did it happen. We were in a clash and I died so I went to the fountain to pick up the sniper. Then I noticed that the snipe no longer have an HP bar, and every time I move him, he would immediately walk back to the fountain. I first thought that this is a "failsafe" to prevent enemies from killing a disconnected player hero over and over again to gain money. Then I realized something, if I spammed the move command, it is possible to overwrite the feature that would cause the hero to walk back to the fountain. Once you stop spamming movement, the hero would immediately walk back towards the fountain, but if you wouldn't stop, you'll be able to move him everywhere. The first time I encountered this and used it, our team didn't sell sniper's items (although he only has threads, maelstrom, and crystalis). The next part I needed to find out is if it's possible to attack, which was possible, I can attack using sniper but sniper is invulnerable to everything. He cannot be attacked, spells cannot damage him, skills that are supposed to stun or apply sleep doesn't work either. Sniper can attack no matter what the case is, and his damage is still the same, and it doesn't help that the hero can still level up. I ended up throwing away my hero and just used sniper the enemies cannot do anything, they would be killed by the sniper, it would destroy their towers, but they can't do anything. The only way for them to actually be able to do something about it is to hope that the player controlling the DC'd sniper would let go of the mouse long enough for the hero to walk back to the fountain. I encountered this bug twice back then, and I was the one using it both times. Funny because I thought Valve would fix this since I'm pretty sure that it would be found immediately, several years later here I am, I still haven't found any vids or stories about this bugs other than mine. No one seemed to experience the bug and talked about it. Still, I only did encounter it in, and win, 2 games using the bug so maybe, just maybe, not a lot of players ran across it.

My favorite and widely unknown exploit which had existed for 2+ years and was dumb to perform: Maokai's ultimate + Zhonya active. Maokai has to put ulti then take any damage and use Zhonya, on the end of ultimate (no matter by duration or reuse) - server crashes because there was a division by zero somewhere in formula. Why the exploit was outstanding is that dying server kicked everyone else before Maokai, giving his team free win and loss for opponents.

Rocket League has a few unintended mechanics I think but I want to give a special mention to both ceiling shots and flip resets (among others). They both technically use the same bug where you have an infinite amount of time to use your second jump. Normally your ability to jump in the air expires 1.5 seconds after your first jump and you get it back when landing. However the devs overlooked the fact that you didn't necessarily need to jump to get into the air. (Although it has never been confirmed to be a bug, I'm pretty sure it is.) But this bug has led to the most insane stuff in RL where people land on the ball mid air get get their jump back or fall of the ceiling to have their jump available.

In the league clip, there is an intermittent bug that occasionally occurs when a champion is hit by two different knockups simultaneously. Depending on which knockups are used, the height the champ is launched varies. In the dota clip, Pudge has a hook ability that pulls whoever he hooks to him. Chen has an ability That telports an ally back to the fountain. If Chen uses his teleport on Pudge while the reel-in is occurring, the pull takes the hooked unit back to the fountain with pudge.

What about rocket jumping in quake? I’d argue that that is the biggest bug that changed gaming because it’s become a widespread thing and it affected both competition death match but also the other competitive side of games, speed running

Since Tekken 5, Koreans found an advanced tech that made backdashes quicker. Normal back dashing was slow, but holding down/back releasing to neutral to back and repeat, canceling the back dash animation was faster to get out of pressure and spacing, hence the Korean Back Dash

runner up: Overwatch League orisa pull bug. The bug was where if an enemy was on a cliff or slightly away from the cliff, if you used orisas pull just below them then they would get auto pulled. It was so broken that it basically defined some of the maps.

The number one was also a bug that was present in Smite. There is a character called Sylvanus that also have a hook like that and the glitch was used the same way. Still it wasnt a big deal cuz is not that easy to hit and doesn't have such a long rage as the one seen here

if you've ever played warframe, there entire movement system was inspired by a bug called "spin-choptering". a bug that allowed you to cross the map by gaining momentum then spamming the spin to win melee attack.

I don't get the crybabkes in csgo who complained about the boost. Unless the boost made the players completely invisible, then it's fine. Next they'll complain that enemy used keyboard to move? And the hook crybabkes. If it's possible in game, then it goes. What's the problem? Don't want enemy to use the hook? Use it first.

LoL definitely had some more interesting exploits throughout its history. Few made it to the professional stage, but what comes to mind in Heimer turrets to block in your creeps, the 5 man tp mid strat, abusing invincible wards, to cheese out a tower lvl 1 (some Korean team used it), Xerath crashing the game by Q-ing the fountain, blocking in Rift Herald behind golems for later use, some items that weren't used as intended (Innervating locket on Udyr/Sona, Spirit of Elder Lizard on Ezreal, AP items on champs like Ali, Yi, Trist and Trynda) and so on.

What most people don't know is that Dendi-Puppey Chen-Pudge combo is extremely hard to pull off. The timing on that needs to be so precise. Yes it was a game breaking exploit but it was one that took skill to pull off.

The olaf boost was totally fair. Sacrificing two players for a cheeky angle is a fine trade, and the only reason it worked so well was because the other team didn't know the map as well. If the other team had the same kind of map experience and know how they could've killed him pretty easily. I mean look at the 3rd person angles, the sniper was totally exposed.

I feel old when none of starcraft broodwar bug was mention. Like, come on, that game built from bug, and somehow its good. Anytime a race dominate among three, two others find a bug to overcome the challenge. From stacking hit and run muta against bio terran, to magic box spread high templar against zerg. To the wallin building to prevent zerg rush. Worker bomb defuse squad, siege tank paratrooper, self irradiate vessel against zerg swarm. Man its so much memory.

There was a big bug in the 2014 League of Legends world match that ended up deciding a game. The one where Rekkles hits OMG loveling with an ULT, sure his shield (maw) allowed him to back BUT his speed boost was still active out of spawn which should NOT have happened because when loveling was hit he was technically in "Combat".....But as you can see in replays he still gets a HUGE speed boost which allows him to catch up to Soaz much sooner than he should have. That ended up deciding the match because the nexus was literally ONE HIT.... It was also the deciding match which would have sent Fnatic to the next round.

Black ops 2: jumpshotting. There was 2 different points in the jumping animation where the player was invincible. Guaranteeing the enemy miss at least 2 shots. Exploited by everyone. Especially in competitive matches.
