Crocheting is working with loops. Knitting is with knots. I've been crocheting for 58 yrs. And thanks to KZbin I'm learning new things. But I have also found out the language of how patterns are written aren't consistent.

Yeah, patience... I heard that many times 😅 people don't understand that this process is relaxing and satysfying and helps to orgnize your thoughts 😂

It IS a little bit about patience for me because I'm so excited to have my project completed so I can move on to the next one!!! 😂 But I love it and it's a relaxing process I enjoy the entirety of.

@@poiwytlee Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!!! I think as we progress with crochet, it does help with patience. At least for me, whenever I am stressed I calm down with a crochet hook and a project in my hands.

Crochet is an art. It is not for everyone. It is a great way to express creativity. I am an older person who loves crochet and learned in childhood. I am in awe of all the talent I see online from people of all ages and gender. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this video.

Oh me too!!! Yeah! Because there is so much study behind pricing something (not only talking about crochet here!). We know how much we spent on material and the time involved in creating our pieces. I should have edited the video with more slap in the faces 😂

"8. You must have so much patience to crochet." Actually I have exactly 0 patience which is why I have 157 WIPs 😅 But you are so right! It's not like "I'm being patient so I can withstand the effort needed to produce this final product." It's "the act of producing this *IS THE HOBBY* and the final product is just a bonus for me, or a gift for someone else!" That's why I've started crocheting NICU donation blankets because I just wanna make small things for fun but I don't have any babies in my life that need them!

Ohhh I am SO glad you got my point about "being patient". That's exactly how I feel, we don't need to be patient to do it, one thing does not relate to the other! Thank you so much for your feedback 😘

People who do not do a particular art form have no idea what it takes! I have quilted and am a bead artist besides doing amigurumi and have heard many times "oh, you can just whip that up!" 😂😂😂 Artists do what they do because it is a love expression. I personally enjoy all the detail you put in your pieces! Looking forward to your book

I’ve not been crocheting an entire year quite yet, but I have heard ALL OF THESE COMMENTS. Lol. It’s exhausting! Even before I learned, I would have NEVER been so thoughtless and insulting! I HOPE most folks are just clueless, not deliberately thoughtless, but sadly that isn’t my experience. It’s a bummer. I guess all we can continue to do is kindly reeducate, eh? 😉. Congrats on the book release (AGAIN)! YOU GO, BOSS LADY!!!! ☺️🫶🏻🧶🧡 xxxx ~ Lisa

unfortunately, these are super common! I am surprised to hear that you already heard them too! What can we do, right? Educate people, more and more! My mom was at the gym one of these days, and she heard 2 women talking that they do not crochet because this is for old people. Immediately, my mom interrupted them and defended the cause 🤣 She was like "No way! Crochet is for everyone! My daughter is young (although I am not kkk) and she crochets" And thanks again for supporting me and always cheering for me dear! 😘

I knit. Common things I hear. *thats not knitting that's crochet *crochet and knitting are the same *you're being selfish not selling your products. *I can do that better than you. *that's not real you're pretending for attention. *just do it for me now for free. And my fav situation. My mom asked me to make a throw for her living room. I said sure if she bought the yarn. It was about 45 dollars worth. My step father messages me a week later and said I need to pay him back bc I'm scamming my mom. I go, "okay, I will send you the 45. But bc we discussed this as her doing this instead of paying for the blanket I will need you to pay for the blanket. That would be about $400 for this size of custom blanket. When will you send it?" He backed up real quick with a nevermind. Mad at me bc yall asked me to make a blanket. My carpal tunnel ass more than jhappy to not make it. Lol And I've been sent a crochet pattern by a friend to make for them every month for the last 10 yrs. And every single time I'm like I CANT CROCHET!!!! lol

@@TPaigeRobby OMG. You are so right!! I’m so sorry this happened to you. Family always seems to be the worse, don’t they. The old saying is you’re never a hero in your own neighborhood. My mom use to do this when she was alive. She would just come over with a pattern and say “I want to make this for a woman at church who is having a baby. I need it for her shower in 3 weeks. I want it in whit3 baby soft yarn.” Then she might or might not put a 10 dollar bill on the table. And because my mom was an overbearing narcissist I just did what she said. Then she brought the baby gift I made and gave it as her give saying she made it. I wonder sometimes if other people who buy our work give it to others and claim they make it.

@@meganchambers8108 it is oh my god. I had a lady at my job who was like.... let me just say first of all I have ocd, ADHD high-functioning autism and horrible horrible anxiety. But the difference between this lady and myself is that I know I have issues and I actively work on them every single day. This lady was so crazy she didn't know there was an issue. Lol she literally yelled at me one day for 15 minutes that I'm not knitting I'm crocheting and she knows because she knows all about it. Finally very calmly I just turned to her and I asked, "how long have you been knitting dawn?" She said she had never knit. And I was like ... "...hmm best leave it to the professionals then". She turned so red lol

@@Crocheniacs for me it's the constant constant asking to buy items from me. Like I said I have carpal tunnel. And I personally just like knitting for myself or to give away as gifts. I'm sure I could sell it. Because people ask me constantly so I'm going to assume that means it's good. But I just don't want to and people don't want to accept that. People's using that if you have a skill or if you have a talent that you're actively doing you have to profit off of that and it's like oh some things you can just do to make yourself happy. I even had one man just walk up to me recently while I was knitting on my break at work and asked me what does my finished product look like and I was like it looks like nothing sir I don't have products. Gah!! A dog has to be either really special to me, or belongs to someone else who is special to me (who LOVES their dog) AND they can't be a chewer. Crochet is not safe for dogs to tear up and is way too much work to be torn up by a dog. Ive made my sister's dog a teddy. That's it lol. The dog doesn't tear up her toys and just cuddles it.

I just thought of another one. A friend told me they were at a craft fair, there was a silent auction for a breast cancer awareness , a woman there crocheted beautiful tablecloth’s in lace. She donated one it had pink roses worked into the lace. My friend said it was gorgeous. And the woman was selling them for a lot of money. Friend said too good for a craft fair.. Anyway. The person who won it had the audacity to go back to her and tell her she didn’t like the pink roses. And wanted her to make one in blue birds so it would match her dinning room. I think I would have told her to go to the devil and keep my original have them pick a new winner who will appreciate it

Story I heard. Very glad not my experience. When parent pushes their child over with a dollar and child tells me they want something I’m selling for 20+bucks is their favorite and offer me their dollar for it. So I point them to a popping mushroom or something like that I’ll sell them for their dollar, even though they’re 3.+ And then they start to pout and cry that the 20 dollar + toy is their favorite and they want it really badly, when I say I’m sorry. And when I stick to my guns. Mom usually gives me a dirty look as they move on. Sometimes saying something nasty. One I even got a Karen.
