Favourite places are always relative, but 50 years after I was last in the Lake District I still get dewy-eyed looking at films of Wasdale and its surrounding peaks: Great Gable, the Scafells, Yewbarrow. A shot of Great Gable from Wastwater must be one of the finest views anywhere - to this old fogie anyway.

WOW! All I want to do now is pack my suitcase and fly over the pond and visit these magnificent places in person. I absolutely loved this video. My favorite by far! You are the perfect narrator and should consider making more of these. Just loved it!!!!!!

Mr Elliot. I bloody loved this. Here are a couple of reasons why - The places mentioned, as you say are beautiful places and the information you gave on these destinations is second to none! The music throughout the video was so fitting and found my self lost in amazement throughout. The narrating was fluent and brilliantly done! All round an amazing video and I thank you so much for putting this together. Much love to ell of a walk!

What an amazing video! Coming from someone who adores the Lakes, that is a true compliment. Very interesting, clearly explained facts. Covered many places I have ventured, but I was amazed to discover a couple I haven't, but intend to in the future. Also love what the two of you are doing to support others 👍👏

Raven glass has a brilliant miniature railway and is well worth a ride! It takes roughly 45 minutes to travel 1 way and if you like your hiking can make a good start to a walking trip. Personally I just like the miniature steam engines and the scenery ! And the pub at the other end 😊

WOW, 10 places to visit in lake District in 10 mins. The way u narrated it, the music, the informations,the way u executed it, loved it. I don't think the fact that this video being 10 mins is just a coincidence. It's just Too precise Everything any this video is 10/10.

It has its sister railway in Kent Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. They both share engines. Been on both love the one in Kent but the scenery in The Lakes is far superior it has to be said

I was born, and have lived in the Lake District all my life. I find it rather bemusing that your 1st choice of places to visit is Windermere. As someone who lives in the area, it's the last place I'd go! But then many of my favourite places in the Lakes are locations which rarely see tourists..... I congratulate you on your correct naming of Windermere. Many tourists refer to it as "Lake" Windermere.....
@EllOfAWalk2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and your comments. I would stress that these top tens are not necessarily in a favourite order and i dont put one place above another in terms of what i think, Its simply a collection of places we love and feel worthy of a mention. The next one will simply be titled 'Ten Places' just to save you being bemused :)

Where would you recommend? My husndbad and I are planning a trip there from the US.
@paulm24675 ай бұрын
@@rachelxtc if possible go to the Western and Northern lakes, Buttermere, Crummock water, Ennerdale water or Wastwater, they are beautiful and isolated , if you want somewhere with a bit more activity Keswick is probably the best base as it has Derwentwater, Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite lake on its doorstep and is frequented by serious walkers rather than people who never go further than 100 metres/yards from their car.
@MichaelNadin-b8k2 ай бұрын

Apparently its wrong to say "Lake Windermere" . The suffix "mere" already means "lake". Tjevword "lake" is redundant.

Terrible that the water company dumped sewage in Lake Windermere
@DaveBartlett6 ай бұрын
Windermere is the name of the lake, as well as a town some distance from it. It is NOT the name of the town you showed, nor that described - that was Bowness-on-Windermere. I defy you to partake of any water based recreation in the town of Windermere since it's a long way from the water. Please do at least a modicum of research before or during the production of videos like this. Incidentally, the town of Windermere adopted the name when the trains arrived in the Lake District. It took it's name not from the lake, but from the railway station, where carriages were provided to take travellers from the station down to the water at Bowness-on-Windermere. The name of the village before the railways arrived was 'Birthwaite' but it seems that there was more money to be made by renaming the town after the railway station!

Rip off Windermere glass of wine pint of beer 14pounds 50 p ,go to Keswick better value.

I guess the more tourists there are, the more expensive, but I rather go for scenery, than food.
