Thank you for these really good videos. They added inspiration for me to actually buy one of the cars from the collection. I ended up buying the red 356 seen by 6.42 in the video. As I live in Sweden and never visited the collection myself, I don´t have any pictures of the car, except those that are avaliable online and those sent by the shipping company. If you took any pictures of the 356 stack that are not avaliable online, I would much appreciate if it is possible to send them to me. I don´t know when the car will arrive in Europe, but it will be very exciting. Best regards from Sweden

IT WAS a business, buying wrecked high end cars as parts sources. As you watch the video go through the buildings, don't you get the idea that THOUSANDS of cars went through this yard? He just decided to rack the ones he didn't want to break down, & that was decades ago. Really, if you think about it, how different is it from a hardware store that closed when the owner died? Or any other business that went through the same fate, & eventually ends up with a sale liquidating assests/property. The difference here is the racks of cars outside...yet what many don't know is, that this business was FAR, FAR LARGER years ago; this is what's left.

5:33 While it is true that Mercedes Benz had already acquired extensive knowledge on fuel injection systems through their WWII aero engines, they were actually not the first company to offer fuel injection in a serially produced car. Two of the smaller German manufacturers, Gutbrod and Goliath (the latter being a subsidiary of Borgward) first presented their fuel injected cars five years earlier in 1951. From Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gutbrod_Superior): "Managed by Hans Scherenberg, Gutbrod cooperated with Robert Bosch GmbH and developed a mechanical petrol direct injection. At the same time, a similar system was also used by Goliath. Both manufacturers showed their direct-injected models at the 1951 International Motor Show Germany (IAA Frankfurt). They are considered the world's first mass-produced vehicles with petrol direct injection." Admittedly, these cars had only small displacement two stroke engines and were not made for a long time (Gutbrod ceased production in 1954, while the Goliath GP-700 and GP-900 (the latter being only available with fuel injection) were produced until 1957), they are nevertheless considered to be the first fuel injected serial production cars.

I'm sorry - only by the most generous definition of the word could this be called a "collection". This is a hoarder's mental illness made manifest - a field filled with almost entirely un-restorable junk.
@tizianoniero91653 ай бұрын
There is a say, "if you don't understand the price, it's not for you". There is no gold standard to define a collection. Since in his life these were rarely for sale, Mr Klein was for the most part COLLECTING them. See what I did there? Mental illness does not factor in. Klein died 20 years ago. The scrapyard was in its hey days 4 times bigger. A lot has been sold. This is what remains. If mental illness is to immigrate to America and start a business by seeing something other people will see 50 years later I wish I was as mentally ill as him.
