Yesterday I had my 7 year old son who plays in little league watch and practice these drill. He went out on the mound and struck out 4 players in a row. I saw he made adjustments based on your advice and he did amazing! Thank you for this. My hubby wasn’t home so as a mom I wanted him to get some sort of training in before his game and it paid off. Thanks again

Your videos are excellent. Your commentary and demonstration make the drills really easy to follow. My 9 year-old just started pitching this year. He pitched okay at first but he was tossing lollipops and short-arming. Fast forward to us using your drills and holy sh#t you wouldn't believe it's the same kid. He's putting the mechanics together and he's as confident on the mound as he can be. Did I mention that he's throwing HEAT. Slapping the catchers mitt and sending opposing hitters back to the dugout. You made a huge impact on my son. Can't thank you enough.

Thank you so much Jim! I'm so glad to hear the videos have really helped your 9 year-old! Sounds like he's on the right track to achieve all of his baseball goals. I'm happy to be a part of it!

CJ, Thank you - I really enjoy your videos. The hip-falling drill looks like a good drill - I plan to use it tonight! I am coaching a youth startup select team (12 yr olds) and I find that many young pitchers T-rex (or short-arm) their pitches attempting to aim the ball. Do you have a drill that fights that urge?

Justin, big fan! However, the way you explain “lead with the hip” is incorrect. Yes it’s designed to keep the player from “opening the gate” but it’s not a falling forward drill. You also hear lead with the heel, which I like personally. Your weight needs to stay back until the drive leg explodes forward and the front foot is ready for landing. Weight back allows for maximum load in the drive leg. A drill I learned from the an Orioles pitcher is bring your foot down as you break your hands and load the back leg, toe tap your landing leg and come back up to your post position. Please don’t take this as trolling! Keep up the great work! BYW, I’m a lefty so I’m not great with infield 4-5-6 drills for 8 yr olds, any elementary advice for this age group would be greatly welcomed!!

I always like Justin's videos and rarely do I ever disagree with what he says but I don't agree with the reverse toe tap. Reason why is it teaches the kids through muscle memory to cross their legs when they bring their knee up during a pitch and that throws them off.

@trutwijd7 жыл бұрын
I'd say depends on the 10U, I have 8-10yo's that wouldn't be able to do these, especially the last one, but if they are good players I think it'd be just right for them.
@chrissurfs15 жыл бұрын
I really wouldn't recommend teaching youth to fall off the mound leading with their front hip.. its gonna develop a bad habit of them not driving off their back leg, and instead can develop a habit of drifting towards the plate. No point in teaching something if you have to unteach it later. Great for you to be out there for the kids though!
