True. Their boxing shoes were really good and I noticed that their economy gloves at wal mart for about $20 are pretty damn good compared to any other economy glove I’ve ever seen. Not every beginner needs to spend $200 on cleto Reyes

Hey cool video man! Although i would disagree with getting multiple pairs of gloves. In the beginning sure, 1 pair of gloves if fine, but if you get more serious about it, and do 3-4 sessions a week, it would better to start looking for an extra pair or two. Like a specific pair you only use for 1 purpose like bag or mitts or sparring. In the end these gloves will last longer than if you would just use the same pair for everything because you would use it 3 times as much. In my gym for example, me included, most guys have 2-3 pairs. Most important one is the sparring and bag glove, as you should never do bag work with your sparring pair and vice versa, as it will destroy the padding much quicker. See it like a pair of shoes; you would need different pairs of shoes depending on where youre going, and you would not wear the same pair of shoes for running as for hiking etc. i myself have 1 pair of 14’s as general purpose, 1 pair of 14’s for bag (oldest pair), and a last pair of 16’s which i leave at the gym, primarily for sparring/partner drills
@SamPalmer8 ай бұрын
100% agree on having two or more pairs of gloves once you've taken up more sessions, but in terms of keeping entry cost into low for a complete newbie who might not even spar for a few months I think its fairly big financial commitment for someone who might not actually enjoy sparring, plus if you're only going to be sparring here and there at the start then most gyms will provide you with a sparring set for the session. Valid point though for sure!

@user-conservative-wasp14 күн бұрын
You don't need headgear as a beginner boxer. You should never spar for at least 4 months into boxing, and I would say it shouldn't be recommended before 9 months into boxing.
@lx638114 күн бұрын
@@user-conservative-wasp in our club we use headguards even for partner work (not sure if this is the right word in english, but it's basically just trying out a combination of punches on your partner). so they aren't only used for sparring at least in our club

99% of gyms I’ve been to will always lend out head guards to beginners or whoever if and when they are needed, decent ones are also quite an investment so that’s why I left them off the list. However a mouth piece is used in most things from pad work to touch sparring work so would much rather spend a bit more on a mouth piece than a cheap mouthpiece and a cheap head guard

Hi, I had a few questions about boxing? -How long should I box for? -I have 14oz gloves, should I get 12's instead? -Can you use boxing boots on foam gym flooring?
@SamPalmer3 жыл бұрын
No Problem 1. If you mean per a training session, 1-2 hours as your starting out is good but mix in different drills into that workout. Your local amateur gym is the best place to start 2. 14 and 12’s are good, really depends on your size, what you want to use them for and what you feel comfortable in 3. Yes but if it’s in a privately owned gym always check with the owner/staff because some will only allow bear foot on their mats/flooring to prevent them getting scuffed up
