I visited Greenville back in 2020, and I knew I wanted to live here. I just sold my house north of Chicago, and I arrived in Greenville last night. I decided to rent a room for three months to give myself time to look for a job and to scope out the right area for me.

People will not know Greenville, until they experience it first hand. From Woodruff Rd being level 9 of Dante's Inferno, to Wade Hampton being level 7. Then there's Academy, I85, etc. Traffic has dramatically increased, please tell them how expensive Greenville is, how it's undergoing gentrification and growing like NY. Yes, there is crime here to. Thankfully, the salaries are rising. They tax cars. Please talk about that too. Thanks.

I say it all the time. Anyone who complains about Greenvilles traffic has never driven through a major city.
@b.r.wright911 Жыл бұрын
@@livinginsouthcarolina we came to visit, rented, and knew Gville was not for us. It's a place to work in, as the salaries are higher than surrounding areas. What's cool is that it's not too far to get to from anywhere. I love SC, we are transplants. Military friendly, conservative state and great gun laws!

@@livinginsouthcarolina I'm looking to move to S.C. in a year or two. I laugh every time someone says the traffic is crazy there. The WHOLE state of S.C. has only 5 million folks living there. Los Angeles county, which is a VERY SMALL California County, has 10 million inside the city limits. Until the South starts to get near that kind of population density I'll take crazy S.C. traffic any day over regular So. California traffic. I live in Kern County, home of the Mojave Desert -hottest place on the planet. Summers are regularly 100-110 from July til September in Bakersfield, it gets hotter in the city of Mojave. Looking forward to 90*. I know you have humidity, but 90 and humid is better than 110 with 19% humidity.

First thing you have to do when you arrive is choose between orange and garnet

Is that for Clemson and Furman Universities?
@MamaT1606 ай бұрын
@@joelsandler1119 😂 No, no, no! Clem's Son is ORANGE. THE University of South Carolina is garnet and black. Furman is purple. Go Gamecocks! Although Clem and his son's are swarming in the Upstate. We moved to Cincinnati nearly a decade ago (my husban'd's hometown) for family reasons, and it's been a love/hate relationship here for me. Anyway, we are finally talking retirement and South Carolina (my home state) is #1, and Greenville is also our 1st choice. We lived there for 22 years and loved it. Like anywhere else, you'll find crime and homelessness and people who aren't your preferred choice as friends/neighbors. We lived north of I-85, east of 385. Lots of family neighborhoods. Hope living there as retired folks will be as great as living there as newlyweds and later as new parents.

What small town do you all recommend for somebody with lots of tattoos? I don't want to feel like I don't fit in. I have conservative values but im not religious and my style comes off a bit witchy, even though im not a witch nor claim to be. Are people judgemental in the South based off appearance? When I stayed in Canton, NC everyone was nice but the fuel stops in SC on my way to Jacksonville, I got some not so friendly interactions and cant figure it out. Im not a shitty driver, im always friendly and say please and thank you (momma raised me to be kind), I enjoy meeting new people and want to start a new chapter in an area where people are welcoming. Coming from California and Oregon I found the traffic noise to me ridiculous in Greenville. Warning, people here like to put glass packed mufflers which vibrated through your own home on a constant basis. As well as playing music with the most bass you've ever heard which due to the low frequency penetrates through all walls in your home. Super annoying. Worst drivers here as well so if you come from Any big cities you'll find the car insurance even greater here since it's not law to have car insurance so the rest of us make up for it. And if you watch the local news you'll hear about hit and runs and car deaths several times a day.😢 And fyi the humidity goes from.Late May through First week of Oct. Which sucks big time.
