Hi! I live in Greenville SC & thank you for shining light 🕯️ on some of it. I moved here from NC a while ago & I'd definitely say have your money together before moving here. Alot of these places to live are sky high as far as rent and for a single person things can get tough. Downtown is definitely high end for a low income person as myself. Beautiful surroundings downtown but definitely not affordable. I live in the Berea -Parker area & to me it's over packed but I can say it's a little more affordable than most places here in Greenville SC. The cost of living does not match the pay scale here. However I do love Greenville as it becoming diverse. One place to me that stands out alone is falls reedy River park. That is the most beautiful park I've ever encountered in my life. The waterfalls are a beautiful asset and much more! I fell in love with that park 🏞️ when I moved here. Downtown isn't for me because it's too limited on space and it's too busy for me and too expensive. Beautiful though. The roads could use a lot of work here and a lot of buildings could use renovations. It's nice to meet you my powdersville friend & hopefully one day I run across ya! ❤

As a single person, I appreciate your comments! I want to move there in about 5 years.

We just visited Greenville and did three full days of exploring all around and saw there is almost zero communities that cater to 55+. What we saw is tons of townhomes and giant two story homes on top of each other. Toll Brothers is building at Oneal village which is wall to wall with no charm at all. On a positive note downtown is awesome and packed with a lot of great restaurants. There are plenty of one story homes in the low country but there you have to watch for flooding.

Same here. We’ve been wanting to move there from Savannah because the healthcare there is sooo much better and wanted a 55+ community.

I'm considering moving to Inman. The town looks wonderful to me.

I live in the northern end of Simpsonville, near Five Forks, and there's plenty of building going on. At the end of my road there's even signs about trying to stop a sub division from happening. Simpsonville has been an over flow area for Greenville for quite some while. It's why I built here, back in 2021, as I couldn't find something I liked, in my price range, in Greenville proper.

Here in kershaw co we just put a zoning bill in place aiming directly at these subdivisions. Now you have to have at least a half of acre lot for a home. So now they cant pile them so near each other. And also no buiding in already dense areas.

That really stinks for Kershaw! Greatly limiting the potential growth and potential equity gains.

Funny you mention Wrenfield and westpoint, my company does the electric for those houses.

Had to look up Powdersville but you're right, one of the best school districts in the entire state plus its 10 minutes from downtown, easy #1.

Hi. What is the medium cost of living for family of 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) in these areas per month?

Any chance of getting a nice 1800sqft home with mature trees and nice yard for $350ish in powdersville… or is it all .25 acre lot cookie cutters?

Shoot us an email: info@livinginsc.com It’s definitely possible. But, that is a highly desired type of property. So, it’s the sort of thing we have to jump right on when available

Hello, I’m currently living in the outskirts of Boston area looking to relocate with my family. Looking for a place where I could buy land and do a bit of a Homestead, yet have low crime and be close enough to the city for any emergency, any suggestions?
@timsimmons51907 ай бұрын
If your looking to buy land and want some space and privacy and want to be located in thr upstate i wouldnt even consider Greenville County. I would look in Spartanburg County or Cherokee co. Maybe Lauren's co and greenwood co

I moved to Greenville area a year ago and the only thing I dont like is that some of the southern hospitality is fake. You have to read between the lines when interacting with people. Plus I found out only through comments that they don't want us here. Also one bad thing is if you're in a hurry to get somewhere you'll be disappointed because everyone drives slow which I really like for safety reasons but some will not. It's way better than where I came from though. A lot safer too.

@natepeterson7145 “Everyone drives slow”… where? You must be talking about Greenville, North Carolina

South Carolina is generally building more sprawl with isolated neighborhoods divided by busy roads no one wants to walk on, instead of building integrated walkable communities. Got kids and want a complex with pool etc, sure it's better weather and expense than Minnesota or Connecticut. But it's sprawl.

Slow down, too many people are moving here and overcrowding the place. Try Alabama or Arkansas.
