Do you really think the song was in the same key as the Broadway musical? Men and women have very different vocal fachs and tessituras. Even Shye, who sounded best in the number is a contralto singer and could never hit an E6. The original song has a tricky key change as is, but this attempt to accommodate the voices of grown men and young girls into a chopped salad of DG was terrible. The Voice knows what's it's doing - anything for cheap entertainment. This disaster of an opening did none of the singers any favours. A terrible idea. Shye sounded okay because her voice has resonance and power and she knows how to SING.

Not gonna lie, there were some parts of the transitions where it wasn't working for some of them. Except for maybe two or three, the rest were either shaky or pitchy. Jeremy has always been the one that leans more on the musical theatre style of singing but his performance was kinda' underwhelming. He sounded shaky and a bit out of tune on his last solo part, sorry, but that's just how I felt and heard it. No hate here...

The last note was ROUGH. And since when was a finale a top 8? Haven’t watched this show in ages, but didn’t it used to be like 10 live show weeks and a top 3? The seasons are going quicker and quicker. Strange

They only did 2 weeks of live shows this year… I remember when it was almost 2 months between the live playoffs and finale, they don’t put nearly as much time and resources into the show anymore

The finale features the top 5, but this performance had the other 3 join to make the top 8 perform together. The actual finale perfomrances of the top 5 were performed the night previous and this was part of a 2 hour live special _just_ for the results. So it was mainly performances from the voice contestants this season, contestants from former seasons, former voice coaches, and other celebrities. The last note is what happens when you get 8 soloists together who can't hear each other. I could hear some of them trying and trying to match the others but it sounded more discordant.
