Quick clarification: for the "not moving off an objective" tip, that only works if they aren't able to get into b2b. Sometimes rolling high sucks :P Knowing how to get the most out of the Fight phase is one of those things that really separates the best from the rest - hopefully this video gives you guys some food for thought on improving at the game! As always please let me know if I missed any other clever tricks & thanks for watching guys!!

Rippa video, relearning the game. Haven’t played competitive 40K since the start of 9th. Very insightful.

Came here from your recommendation from the other vid… the fights first pile in tip is a game changer!! I’m definitely going to be using that so often! Top class video once again thanks man!

Hell yeah, glad it was helpful Elliot! I'd say Fights First is one of the most powerful rules in the game so knowing good counters is huge 😜 I had someone else who ended up winning their game after using that "sacrificial unit" method so I bet you'll have some good luck too hah Appreciate your comments & letting me know you dug these. Means a lot to see people are getting legitimate advice from my vids

Fantastic, practical advice. My last game was against Tau and I got a lot of use out of your secondary objectives video, too!

Thank you Tim! That's great to hear you were able to use some of my advice & just think, you'll only be doing better & better from here. Hopefully you were able to eek out a win but either way I appreciate the heads up man 😎

great video, love this kind of format and knowledge that more experienced players take for granted but not explained in the core rules

Appreciate that Shem! Yeah the Fight phase is probably the most complicated part of 10th edition, at least when someone is first trying to learn it, & there's a bunch of little tricks hidden in there. Glad you found this helpful & ty again for the kind comment!!

Same here! I believe they're the only Chaos army I haven't picked up yet even though I love their kits I've considered using my Legionaries as Bezerkers but I'd still need a boatload of Jahkals & Eightbound 😜 Well.. & Angron. Probably need that guy regardless of what else I get hah

Great Video! Had my Iron Warriors do a Pack Bound Detachment with the Raptors having the Mark of Slaanesh, my buddy didn't account for their Move, Advance, Charge and 6 inch pile in from the chaos lord and they were able to remove two units from the board!

Hell yes! Yeah man the fight phase unlocks sooo many plays & a whole boatload of "gotchyas" (the fairest kind at that 😜). Great generalship & I'm glad to hear you had such success man!

Thank you brother! Yeah the fight phase is one of the most important ones to master, hope you get to put some of those tips to good use. If you're newer to 40k or comp play you *might* checkout my "how to deploy for turn 1" video too, I think that has the best tips for improving win rates fwiw Either way, appreciate the comment & best of luck on the tabletop!!

I'll try to put these tricks into good use tomorrow ;-). A follow-up video which focuses on counterplay to these methods would be rad. As a Drukhari player, I am usually trying to avoid getting surprises by pile-ins and the like. Screens, if done incorrectly (ask me how I know) do more harm than good, rewarding the attacker with free movement
@fatarchon5 ай бұрын
@@2oomuchcoffee that's a good suggestion, I've been wanting to put out more 'general tactics' so I'll keep that in mind man! Good luck in your game too, if you end up getting to use any of these tricks feel free to lemme know :P

@@fatarchon sacrificing some kabalites to punch through a fights first GSC unit worked great -- thanks for making it so clear how to pull it off!

Incredible stuff as always!!! How much value do you think that the 6 inch consolidate abilities have? I was thinking about running a Soul Link Master of Executions with Abaddon and 5 Chosen and was wondering what kind of funky business I could get into putting Drachnyen where it ought not belong if I were to suck the Jump Pack Lord’s abilities. Free +3 to charge too lol
@fatarchon6 ай бұрын
Thank you friend! Those 6" pile in / consolidate *can* be a gigantic deal, especially for a combo like that (that's an incredibly nasty one btw, hot damn!). With Soul Link specifically it'd be extra nasty because you'd get to pick from multiple characters, maybe sneak in a Termie Sorc etc. I believe you can steal abilities from units still in reserves too That said I'll be honest that I'm not too hot on the Jump Lord himself, if you could attach him to Warp Talons I'd be all over it but as-is he's "just" alright. Now with an Abaddon bomb that's different hah & obviously other armies would have diff units to pick from. A full brick of Raptors could probably do some work too tbh but I usually run them MSU myself
@fullweener73236 ай бұрын
@@fatarchonI was just going to run the Jump Lord solo with the Stealth/Lone Op Enhancement as a lil John Wick Mission Doer!
@fatarchon6 ай бұрын
Aha! Yes that would most definitely be a route I'd look at. Goddamn I love the Deceptors; Soul Link is like, the best enhancement of 10th edition - so many cool combos it unlocks

Did they FAQ tip 7? Can you still do that slingshot?
@fatarchon5 ай бұрын
@@cew630 nah nothing got changed that I know of, it's a pretty standard tactic tbh! You still have to block yourself out of b2b with the first few models but after that - so long as you end up closer to the enemy model - you can move wherever you want
@andyozFace5 ай бұрын
Can you move your models that can’t base so that you are forced to maintain coherency rather than go into base to base with other models
@fatarchon5 ай бұрын
Oh man, that sort of ends up being a rabbit hole that I'd have to dig through errata / FAQ's on to be sure. If I just read the core rules (& didn't miss anything, which is very possible!) it says ~'if a model can end in b2b it must' but then it also says ~'the controlling player can move their models in any order', so going off that latter rule I'd think in theory you could move your models that *can't* get in b2b first & then cause the coherency check to stop the rest. But in practice I've always seen it played as moving the models that can get into b2b first, then everything afterwards. It's possible they clarified it somewhere or I'm just having a brain fart lol but yeah, I think it's possible in theory? I'd assume it's a lot harder to setup in practice even if it is legal though It is kinda silly that the best possible charge would put you 0.9" away (well, 0.1"). I still don't like the b2b stuff because it makes you do like, trigonometry in your head to game system as much as you can 😜
