I'm so old I remember when Saleen sold brand new take-off 10 holes with Gatorback tires for like 500 bucks. 😎 For me, it was remove air silencer, add a K+N panel filter, bump the timing to 14 degrees, Hurst shifter, Flowmaster 2 chambers, and 3.73 gears. Later went to Pony wheels and a Dr. Gas X pipe with no cats. I live in Texas and had a big amp, and it's HOT, so under drives were a no-go. Didn't have the money for the alternator upgrade.

My 20th anniversary convertible had 17 inch ROH ZR6 rims and I had the lips/rim polished and the spoke painted grey. No doubt I had one of the best looking 5.0s around and with ported Gt40 heads, b303 cam, roller rockers, full length headers 2 1/2 inch exhaust muffled by 3 chamber flowmasters and can’t forget the 3:55 gears combined with a 1993 tranny for the 335:1 1st gear It sounded awesome and I was tough to beat on the street. Almost forgot, also had a tubular k frame, Eiibach progressive rate springs all rolling on 255/45 Comp TAs. My first Fox body 5.0 coupe already had the Edelbrock Performer RPM upper and lower intake, 24# injectors, granatelli matching mass air, a big aluminum radiator with electric fan and 4.10 gears when I bought it. So my first buys went like this........ 1. X-pipe to flowmasters 2. Short throw shifter (Pro 5.0 brand) 3. Bottle in a bag brand Nitrous "kit" basically a universal EFI dry kit with pills from 25hp thru 150hp. Everything literally came in a duffel bag and plugged in to the cig lighter for power. 4. Ford racing E cam 5. Ford Racing Aluminum driveshaft. Since he did an honorable mention I will do a number 6. Weld draglites on junk brand front tires and with rear tires that are old school now with so many great drag radials out, Mickey Thompson E/T Streets. A true bias ply with one or two grooves that got them a D.O.T stamp and that was just about all you could find for a DOT drag type. Also I will say if you had 5 lug conversion done then Weld Pro-stars. A lot of people had 5.0 LS hatches or coupes with what we called eggcartons, or something like that, on them stock that most people disliked. So they often swapped for pony wheels and later knockoff 4 lug cobra R types if they didn't want the big and little look. Dang it now I'm gonna want another fox body.

i love your channel and how you represent the fox-body community but i do have to disagree just a tad bit on the top 5 mods. I owned my lx fox-body mustang for 24 years and i am super knowledgeable on fox bodies. I would say the top five mods were shorty headers, under drive pulleys, 3.73 gears, heads cam and/or intake. popular heads were the GT40 heads, trick flow twisted wedge, and Edelbrock performer heads. Cams were the B303 or E303 cam Crane cam 2031 or 2040, or Comp cam extreme cam. The intakes were GT40 intake, Cobra intake, Edelbrock Performer, This would also include getting a 70 mm throttle bodyand matching EGR. Other top mods were weld wheels, 2 to 4 inch cowl hood. Putting LX taillights on all GT models. Some sort of short shifter. Monster Tach on the dash. and then finally a power adder.

@Todd.T6 жыл бұрын
Your old school is a bit off. Way before the Vortech A-Trim/B-Trim/R-Trim/S-Trim was the Paxton. The B-303 was a cam from 1985 and didn't have a lot of torque so you ran 4.11 gears minimum and raped the car. and installed it 4 degrees advanced unless your car had intake and heads done. The E is a way better street cam and was made after fuel injected Mustangs became a threat on the street. You want old school? Punch the cats, two chamber flows, Hurst short throw shifter, MAC shortys, 14 Degrees of timing ASF 32-C plugs, 3:73 Gears, under drive pulleys. Unplug the fuel pressure regulator, pull the air intake silencer and MAF screen. Check the throttle position sensor (almost always indicate less throttle angle by default). Bypass the EGR preheat. Add Phenolic spacer between upper and lower intake. Turn rear passenger side spring on the perch so that side sits higher and pre-loads the suspension. Move the battery to the rear passenger side. Southsides and box weld lower and upper arms. Chain engine so it can't move On race night, unbolt the front swaybar and overinflate the front tires so they have a belly. Your friends would never see it coming as you walked them and the Camaros never saw you after the light changed and a precious few that did keep up felt confident from the tie between both cars...until you put in to third and then walk away like a thief. Third is legendary. Wear leather sole sandals that are lightweight. Mash the go pedal and keep it there. When it's time to shift, strike the clutch on an angle slam the next gear and pull your foot off to the side in one swift move. Race on the track weeknights against the clock and when prodded on the street, know your ride and you could take down even faster cars than yours.

TKO-600 transmission, Spec-3 Clutch, a Stock Truck Roller camshaft, 3.55 gears 31 spline 4 lug Superior axles, solid upper/lower rear bars, aftermarket k-member with coil overs and adjustible front shocks. Aeromotive fuel system. MSD Boost timing master. SNOW water injection. It isn't era specific but close to what someone would toss together, and it would live and not fall apart.

The cost exceeds $13K (includes the shell) I am guessing someone could do it cheaper but a brand new TKO Transmission sorta puts a keebash to that as an outcome. It adds up fast.

Do more of the old school videos. You did top 5 90s mods which was great, but do more videos on other top 5 lists from the 90s!

Everyone talks about about how flowmasters are "the" sound of a foxbody. Nope. It's all about that V1 vortech. I will admit it's all about perspective. Being in high school in the late 90's, anyone and their dad could pick up a damn clean fox for 4K. Everyone was paycheck to paycheck for pulleys, a catback, etc. The fox guys that were slightly older, meaning born in the mid to late 70's, these guys were out of college had more of an income, and thus more money for mods. You could spot a fox from a quarter mile away, up at the next red light. You rushed up there and before even stopped, you heard that ear piercing whine of a V1. You're 13 second fox didn't' stand a chance. You might look over and say, "Nice car" but the grin on the drivers face said, "go ahead, I dare ya!"

I almost got nostalgic with you about the Cobra R wheels and the whale tail. Wait..... I still have both on my car .. BAHAHAHA!!!

I think your first mod should be relocating your ignition module. It's probably not as big a deal with the 5.0's but they are annoying to change on the side of the road on a 2.3. I have had to walk home a couple times because the module died.

The dog house on a sn95 being a fox body was a surprise. Didn’t know that, so that said can you use a sn95 to repair shock towers on say a 88 lx? Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it. Sub’d
