@@lesterluis1426 yeah good point, the problem for me is that a lot of his current reviews are way too short and pointless (bad song bad, good song good, this makes me entertaining right guys? - rap critic) and have too little effort or improvement from his early days for me to care. You look at his old buddy Todd in the Shadows and it's clear why one retained a solid audience and the other remains a relic of the late 00's nostalgia critic format. Sometimes the format is messed with for an interesting idea (I actually liked the Let Me Clear My Throat concept of being some detective falling down an obscure rabbit hole) but it doesn't happen enough in his already scattershot video uploads to make me care enough to re-subscribe.
@MistyDusker5 ай бұрын
@@keyscored3710 I honestly think he peaked with the Birthday Song review. It was entertaining, funny, and analyzed the lyrics and the video. Since then there's fluctuation of audio quality and hit or miss jokes and criticisms. His old stuff still holds up well. But I think he gets too anal and it affects the entertainment value of his videos when it misses the point (portions of the Why? review) and goes into tangents. Even his music gets too verbose and over explains simple emotions and ideas so I guess that's just how his mind works. Comparing him to Todd is funny because Todd does so much research for his videos that they feel more well rounded and focused where jokes won't flop as bad. If Rap Critic misses the point he'll rant, fixate, and joke anyway and it's a lot less tolerable. Out of curiosity I'll check his videos once in a while but rarely remember much of them.

Honestly I think doja doesn't like Sam, just follows him ironically cause he's a "lolcow". Aka, someone people follow not cause they're a fan but because the person is silly or ridiculous in some way. Ethan Ralph for example is an absolute trainwreck right wing terror who has less fans than people watching him as a lolcow to be made fun of. Chris Chan is one of the oldest "lolcows" followed and doja being a 4channer would know what they are. I figured Sam was one of her favourite lolcows, especially since he had a bit of a crazy year this year. I don't follow him as he's not a cow I'm particularly interested in but I know a lot follow him not out of any love and kept bringing him up for one reason or another. The "moo" song always read to me as having heavy references to lolcows and "farmers", doja being self hating probably sees herself as more of a cow than a celebrity too. Might be a cope but I really think she just forgot the rest of the world doesn't know wtf a lolcow is considering the attempts to say she ironically followed him which is true of lolcows but sounds strange without that context because who watches a comedian ironically?

In defense of Paint the town red: I am pretty sure the chorus is meant to be a quotation of what her “fans” expect her to think. “I’d rather be famous instead” is a nod at the conspiracy that she cut all her hair and and went “demonic” due to her “fans” saying she is now apart of the illuminati. This a Juxtaposition is Followed by her verses being an explanation from her point of view of her giving insight to her side and always trolling by playing in heavily to her critics. Her boyfriend, her hair cut, her change in style. Furthermore the lyic “Fame ain’t something that I need no more.” Is a triple entendre potentially: hinting at two things, The song “Bitch I’m a Cow” where she famously created this song with about 60 of her core fans and was a caricature of the cat girl meta on the internet and an intentionally bad song that was only supposed to resonate with those core fans but unexpectedly blew up despite her label never pushing her at the time: second one being that even despite her fans missing the “old doja” she is still more popular than ever in her career despite these cries from her fan base: lastly it’s a critique of saying why would she even need to join the illuminati when she is already much more famous than she ever thought she’d be and potentially more than she ever wanted showing how she hates the feels that fans are much too para social with her and expect her to champion these ideas they have. Though if you aren’t up to date with all the Doja lore, it is understandable that this lyric can come off as really bad.

So about the white guy who did not want to acknowledge that he might've had opportunities because of his skin, you make the statement that it's summon insecurity, that if he acknowledges any opportunities because of his skin, it means he didn't work hard, but he's probably thinking like that, because that's what he's been told, too many people will say that very thing, everything you got is because you're white, everything you accomplished is because you're white, You didn't work hard at all, so of course, he's gonna push against that to prove that he did actually work, you're the only person who has said anything remotely like, we can still acknowledge that you worked hard, even though you got opportunities, but again, people want to perpetuate this Idea but they don't want to deal with them verifications of what happens when people stand oppositional to it, and Eminem once did acknowledge exactly what you're talking about in the song white America, he was on the first ones to do so, but I can also understand people who truly believe that it was their work ethic that got them to where they are, and suggesting anything to the contrary, they see, is extremely disrespectful, and a slight against what they have accomplished.

Man, Jack Harlow had a lot of promise when he first came out and released What's Poppin. But since then, it's been disappointment after disappointment. And if he thinks that he's not as big as he is because of his skin color, he is delusional. Yes, he's talented, but let's not act like that's the only reason he is huge. Also, other than Say So, I've pretty much distanced myself from Doja Cat and her music (despite none of her hits really being all that bad, they're all either mid or good, Paint The Town Red being the former). Her being a racist who doesn't know the meaning of the word "humble" is really too off putting to enjoy her as an artist. I wouldn't shed a tear if she went away. Great list so far, RC. Can't wait for Part 2.
