Man Eminem has a weird life cycle of "build up my career and become one of the most influential rappers in my time, then destroy my career with levels of increasingly embarrassing music to the point I become a punchline, then rebuild my career slowly but surely until folks are saying I might have peaked again, then once again redestroying my career." I'm just saying Marshall Mathers lp3 should be pretty good
@urivan9613
@urivan9613 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think Eminem can be "fixed" at this point. Dude lost it big time... You can tell from the stuff he does that he's absolutely convinced that embarrassing similies, weak punchlines, corny wordplay (with adlibs!) and rhyming as many syllabuses as possible is what hip-hop is all about. Add to that awfulness these annoying trap beats and you get a total disaster. And the fact that the guy is almost 50 years old makes it even worse. He has completely forgotten about quality songwriting... Or he doesn't care anymore...
@PoggoMcDawggo
@PoggoMcDawggo 3 жыл бұрын
@@urivan9613 I think its more he doesn't care anymore. Why bother spending time trying your hardest when you can do whatever and still make money? Hell even now, and on RC's previous vid about this segment on em, you'll have fans making any excuse for eminems bad lyrics and attacking anyone who disagrees. Dude has a large base of stans who will die on any hill for him. At that point you don't need to try your best cause they'll buy whatever you put out and make excuses for it.
@urivan9613
@urivan9613 3 жыл бұрын
@@PoggoMcDawggo Probably. There's no quality control whatsoever in the stuff he puts out lately. The inconsistencies and lack of conceptual clarity in his recent albums is alarming. I really don't get his commercial success at this point of his career. How do people find his new stuff appealing is beyond me. He's not a relevant figure like he was in the early 00's, he's not controversial anymore not only because of his age but because there's nothing really to get offended by (except for his ridiculous abuse of annoying wordplay and adlibs), and his songs are not pleasing to the ear... I don't get the appeal.
@PoggoMcDawggo
@PoggoMcDawggo 3 жыл бұрын
@@urivan9613 People have a hard time admitting when a singer they like falls through the cracks. That and there's this notion that because x was good in the past their recent stuff must also be good. Now I know everyone has different taste in music, but when the best defense of a song is "he was having fun with it" it's time to let it go. I don't think em has that it factor anymore and there's no use defending whatever the hell he did in that song. No one stays on top forever, but that's ok.

About equally as stupid as the people that want to force vaccines. We never had to force them before, people got all the other vaccines, the few that don't don't effect those who do. Most people will get the covid one. But to force a law is unnecessary and totalitarian and if you're pro choice about abortion but not vaccines, you're not pro choice and are a hypocrite. I got my shots, I'll get my kids vaccinated when i have kids. But to give the government power to force injecting a shot against peoples will(changing the law will mean they can force every vaccine in future, not just the covid one). I'll die on that hill. Especially with untested vaccines (ik they say they tested it but it takes years to do, they made this in 2 weeks, there's no way they can be sure of long-term effects). @Esther Sparrow according to the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of "Mental Disorders", Fifth Edition) Diagnosis is based on behavior, not mechanism. I don't know where RC's source for the in utero claim came from but it's forward and back misinformation. Can't say I haven't heard it before though, I guess the much more common lie of Anti-vax from Da 5'9' jumped out at me. In my experience, the in utero claim is mostly used by people who see the autism spectrum as a disease instead of disability or identity. The claim is normally used by people who want to start "early intervention" which usually means ABA, a pseudoscience from the same guy who developed conversion therapy and is gradually being recognized as inhuman. Some people also use the in utero claim as a pro-choice argument. I am pro-choice, but the claim in this context is usually presented in a "fear the r-slur" kind of way. That's why I advocate for more social acceptance, not that anybody should be interrogated about their choice to abort, but so fewer people who want to start families don't see disability as a terrifying thing. I realize this is a long post, but it's also very abridged. I'd alo recommend reading up on neurodiversity, as well as checking out some hash tags on social media, like actuallyautistic askanautistic and autisticwhileblack if you can.

I really wish the guy would figure out what he actually wants to say. He’s had bright spots even in his decline (Lucky You is fantastic, and Not Alike and Godzilla are both very enjoyable despite their flaws), but there hasn’t been a consistently enjoyable Eminem album for six years. Not that I know what it’s going to be at all. Eminem has really exhausted all of his compelling narratives at this point, or perhaps not. I wish he’d inject his “fast flows” songs with a little more of the confidence we saw on Rap God, stop with the mostly cringeworthy relationship tracks, and reflect on his career a little more thoughtfully. Maybe a reprise to Kamikaze is in order in a year where young rappers have become way more fun, or perhaps a revisit of some of the themes from MMLP2?

Eminem is just not as good as he once was, people would not accept these mediocre or sometimes downright terrible bars from someone who is supposed to excel as a lyricist. NOT TO MEMTION the rhyme schemes used, “planet that roots” and “dark as i think” are both four-syllable schemes, so the rhymes are consistent throughout this crazy scheme. he THEN goes on to string together cohesive sentences comprised of this dense rhyme scheme, whilst apologising to Rihanna (ergo, actually saying shit). it’s very very reductive on behalf of rap critic to reduce this entire thing down to a bad dad joke. i think it’s blind vitriol and hatred guiding his analysis, as opposed to objective and measured critique.

@@officialasa I 100% agree. sometimes I like to believe that he purposely gets lines outta context to make fun of them ironically, so I watch the videos as a comedy skit, especially when it comes to Em, because if he is actually seriously critiquing them, it’s just a sad and poor review.

Dude.... people are taking Eminem WAYYYYYY too seriously at this point. I'll take his dad jokes over another song about any of the other bullshit most rappers go on about.

As a Royce fan, I'm glad you pointed out his stupidity from The Allegory... but sadly there are more (and arguably worse) parts to that album.... I miss Book of Ryan :c

Being that Eminem has been my favorite rapper in mainstream music for years, it's beyond frustrating to hear him resort to these dad joke bars for the past few albums. Come after me if you want, but he's better than that, and I'm on board with what Rap Critic says here.

Personally, I'd have added, "They forget the beef or they goo in the street" to the MIB couplet.

2:16 or so, that's a stretch to call thine misogynistic. You dont hold that same standard when female artist talk about male partners in degrading ways. Simply saying you wish sometimes you could get your partner to shut up isn't some inherent dig at an entire gender identity. Nor is it really indicative of some underlying hate. Most people at one time or another are going to fight with their partner , and to say its misogynistic is the fake feminist ally type stuff that turns people away from the ideology you seem to want to promote.

1. you linked to Lil Wayne's lyric not the joyner one, go earlier in the time stamp. 2. "these girls these days aint nothin but trouble" is not misogynistic how lol

@@RAMENn00dleb0y is a general hyperbolic statement after a bad break up misogynistic? Or is it perfectly acceptable social venting about a situation? How many times do you hear women say this about guys? Plenty. But we would never and shouldn't call it misogynistic in of it self. The line talking about the muzzle though being misogynistic is the biggest stretch
