Man Eminem has a weird life cycle of "build up my career and become one of the most influential rappers in my time, then destroy my career with levels of increasingly embarrassing music to the point I become a punchline, then rebuild my career slowly but surely until folks are saying I might have peaked again, then once again redestroying my career." I'm just saying Marshall Mathers lp3 should be pretty good
@urivan96133 жыл бұрын
I don't think Eminem can be "fixed" at this point. Dude lost it big time... You can tell from the stuff he does that he's absolutely convinced that embarrassing similies, weak punchlines, corny wordplay (with adlibs!) and rhyming as many syllabuses as possible is what hip-hop is all about. Add to that awfulness these annoying trap beats and you get a total disaster. And the fact that the guy is almost 50 years old makes it even worse. He has completely forgotten about quality songwriting... Or he doesn't care anymore...
@PoggoMcDawggo3 жыл бұрын
@@urivan9613 I think its more he doesn't care anymore. Why bother spending time trying your hardest when you can do whatever and still make money? Hell even now, and on RC's previous vid about this segment on em, you'll have fans making any excuse for eminems bad lyrics and attacking anyone who disagrees. Dude has a large base of stans who will die on any hill for him. At that point you don't need to try your best cause they'll buy whatever you put out and make excuses for it.
@urivan96133 жыл бұрын
@@PoggoMcDawggo Probably. There's no quality control whatsoever in the stuff he puts out lately. The inconsistencies and lack of conceptual clarity in his recent albums is alarming. I really don't get his commercial success at this point of his career. How do people find his new stuff appealing is beyond me. He's not a relevant figure like he was in the early 00's, he's not controversial anymore not only because of his age but because there's nothing really to get offended by (except for his ridiculous abuse of annoying wordplay and adlibs), and his songs are not pleasing to the ear... I don't get the appeal.
@PoggoMcDawggo3 жыл бұрын
@@urivan9613 People have a hard time admitting when a singer they like falls through the cracks. That and there's this notion that because x was good in the past their recent stuff must also be good. Now I know everyone has different taste in music, but when the best defense of a song is "he was having fun with it" it's time to let it go. I don't think em has that it factor anymore and there's no use defending whatever the hell he did in that song. No one stays on top forever, but that's ok.

@Esther Sparrow according to the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of "Mental Disorders", Fifth Edition) Diagnosis is based on behavior, not mechanism. I don't know where RC's source for the in utero claim came from but it's forward and back misinformation. Can't say I haven't heard it before though, I guess the much more common lie of Anti-vax from Da 5'9' jumped out at me. In my experience, the in utero claim is mostly used by people who see the autism spectrum as a disease instead of disability or identity. The claim is normally used by people who want to start "early intervention" which usually means ABA, a pseudoscience from the same guy who developed conversion therapy and is gradually being recognized as inhuman. Some people also use the in utero claim as a pro-choice argument. I am pro-choice, but the claim in this context is usually presented in a "fear the r-slur" kind of way. That's why I advocate for more social acceptance, not that anybody should be interrogated about their choice to abort, but so fewer people who want to start families don't see disability as a terrifying thing. I realize this is a long post, but it's also very abridged. I'd alo recommend reading up on neurodiversity, as well as checking out some hash tags on social media, like actuallyautistic askanautistic and autisticwhileblack if you can.

I really wish the guy would figure out what he actually wants to say. He’s had bright spots even in his decline (Lucky You is fantastic, and Not Alike and Godzilla are both very enjoyable despite their flaws), but there hasn’t been a consistently enjoyable Eminem album for six years. Not that I know what it’s going to be at all. Eminem has really exhausted all of his compelling narratives at this point, or perhaps not. I wish he’d inject his “fast flows” songs with a little more of the confidence we saw on Rap God, stop with the mostly cringeworthy relationship tracks, and reflect on his career a little more thoughtfully. Maybe a reprise to Kamikaze is in order in a year where young rappers have become way more fun, or perhaps a revisit of some of the themes from MMLP2?
