"OHMYGOOOOD, ADAR IS SUCH A DEEP CHARACTER!" Adar served Sauron and Morgoth at one time When did he start to serve them? Why did he serve them, if he is willing to betray Sauron? What was the nature of his relationship with Sauron? Were they close once? Was it always a hateful relationship? Was he Sauron's right hand or just some orc leutenant? Is he the only one that is this half-elf, half-orc thing? If so, why? Who was he when he was still an elf? How did it effect him that he was turned into an orc but can still remember his time as an elf? How did he look at Morgoth for doing this? Why is he angry with Sauron, but not Morgoth when he has much more reason to be angry with Morgoth? How does he view elves as a whole now? What makes him think that orcs are worth protecting? How did he convince the troll to help him? What do the orcs see in him? Because what we're actually shown is that him leading them is actually no better than what Sauron would do... He still gets them killed for stupid reasons and he still t0rtures them for no reason. If he wants to protect orcs, why does he randomly t0rture one in season 1 by burning his hand in sunlight for absolutely no reason whatsover? Why does he smile when a troll throws the head of one of his "children" in front of him? Why does he not even try to work out a deal with the elves and the humans if he truly believes that orcs just want to keep to themself? Why does he offer an allience to Galadriel, someone who has been worse to his children than Sauron ever was? Why does he keep the people he wants to forge alliances with in cages for days, just so later he can reveal that he only brought them here to bro down with them? Why is he strong enough to effortlessly beat up 2 elves, one of them being Elrond, when he is merely and orc, and there's a 99,999999% chance he was an elf of lower caliber than Elrond is? Why does he change his mind every 5 minutes on who he wants to unalive and who he wants to be allies with? How does he know Sauron is Halbrand? When did he learn this? Why did he send a "where is he" message to Eregion, when he knew, where Sauron was? Why did he write it in a language elves can not speak? (Remember, smith-Galadrirel had to ask Sauron what the message meant, so it was not in a language that elves understand, possibly black speech) How does he know things he has no way of knowing? Why do the orcs decide to turn on him and serve Sauron instead, when they turned on Sauron and decided to serve him instead the last time? We get zero answers to all of these questions, and now he is dead. But sure, he is oh so deep a character.

NotGandalf being there is just for memberberries. He and the other four wizards were sent from Valinor specifically to help the people of Middle-Earth overthrow Sauron. They all knew their jobs when they arrived. They knew exactly who they were, what their powers were, and what to do. They were even specifically told "don't do evil shit because if you do, we're chucking your ass into the void with Sauron." So they knew not to be evil. And they would only be allowed to return to Valinor after Sauron was defeated. So this whole "falling from the sky, having to stumble through life like a manbaby and learning magic powers like Harry Potter while having no idea who you are or why you're there" is complete nonsense, not to mention it's way too early for Gandalf to even be there in the first place.

The showrunners have no passion or heart in their work. They're obsessed with recreating "Cool stuff" from other IPs. That's the only thing they ever mention in their interviews.

Fact is that J.R.R. Tolkien tackled issues of his time with intelligence, compassion, a love for history and language, and a deeper understanding of human nature. Rings of Power was written by people who have none of these attributes. Furthermore, any person who has read Tolkien's works and personal correspondence would understand that Tolkien's great dislikes of colonialism, its destruction of culture, and the importance of environmentalism as being not just the preservation of nature's beauty but also the greater sense of community that holds humanity together would be anathema to the show writers.

I have a tiny disagreement with this video. Sauron, at the beginning of the Second Age, wanted to make Middle-Earth a better place. The problem was that for him, better meant "under total control". Sauron did not see himself as the bad guy, but as the one who would bring order into the world.

Instant Mordor is so funny. The thing about this show is that there are at least 100 things competing for "worst things about Rings of Power". Season 2 is just one disaster after another, trashing the Lore, trashing their own characters, trashing plot continuity, and in general making every single character behave like a moron because the writers have no capacity for plot, character, nuance, dialogue, nor anything else. For me, "Grand Elf" from season 2 should have actually seen the writers and showrunners arrested for crimes against intelligence. I've never shouted at a screen so hard as I did when I watched that utterly insulting, ludicrous moment. Hopefully Amazon just pull the plug. It deserves to die and stand as a warning to writers everywhere about how not to be make a series.
