Bought one of these and a Qanba Pearl at the exact same time, was getting a little tired of the old mad catz and razer sticks, missing dashes and what not. This became my favorite stick immediately, legit have used the qanba like 3 times or something. The stick is snappy, the buttons are not as high, which makes things like plinking and double tapping and negative edging feel so much better as there’s that much less time and space for your fingers to press down. Feels good, looks cool. Love this stick. Have got more sticks on the way but this is gonna hold the crown for a while

I’ve been using this stick for years I love it. No nasty fingerprints because of the aluminum, and the hayabusa buttons were made for old people so they register easier with less pressure. One day, you'll build a custom stick with a sega 2p layout, and you'll love it. It has the slight curvature similar to a noir, but it lines up perfectly with the elbows flared outwards, and the thumb rests perfectly on the bottom 1st kick button thats under the punch button. Everyone loves noir, but i prefer viewlix because my elboes flare out. But sega 2p is the best of both worlds
@nerdyneedsalife83154 жыл бұрын
I got an Etsy case with Sega 2P. I love the layout. I would say it's underrated because no major manufacturer uses it but I can't say it because many people who buy custom chooses Sega 2P.
@CGoody5644 жыл бұрын
@@nerdyneedsalife8315 it's a shame no commercial manufacturers use it. Its a missed opportunity on their part. I always get a Sega 2p layout case whenever they're available as an option. It's apparently not as popular as you'd think. Quite a few of the non-commercial case producers have either phased it out as a standard option, or never offered it to begin with (junk food arcade, marvelous customs come to mind)
@nerdyneedsalife83154 жыл бұрын
@@CGoody564 I get why they don't. They would need to make new panels which means a new case manufacturing process which means they would have to eat their own cost while charging the customer more while having to make room for inventory. Why do that when Vewlix is king? I am still disappointed because newcomers would rather buy a prebuilt stick than support smaller businesses that offer cases that suit the Sega 2P layout.
@CGoody5644 жыл бұрын
@@nerdyneedsalife8315 viewlix is king? Noir is far more popular. Im in the minority of people who prefer viewlix. Regardless, you're overstating the difficulty in changing the layout. It is a minor adjustment regarding location; the tooling remains the exact same. Altering it for a large batch would not cost any more for the customer, would not eat in to their profits much if at all, and they aren't hurting for inventory space in their large warehouses. It's possible they make more money due to increasing the market share by offering a product that caters to people's preferences whom they currently aren't reaching by only offering the viewlix/noir layouts. As I said, even many smaller producers are phasing out the S2P layout, or never offered it to begin with. As for "newcomers" wanting commercial sticks over custom ones, it isn't just newcomers. Even as one who owns a multitude of custom cases from smaller producers and continue to acquire them, I like a few particular things that most commercial sticks do a lot more, which is why I still buy them. For instance, I much prefer tbe utility buttons where they are assorted in their own area generally using smaller buttons and possibly toggle switches while being clearly labelled rather than the usual 4-6 24mm utility buttons on the back or side of the case. I also usually prefer the clean look/design of the chassis in general on commercial sticks over a lot of of the ones made by the smaller producers, although obviously there are a few exceptions to that.

The Hyabusa lever should be 'smoother' or 'faster' cuz it uses a V-shaped cup for the pivot, meaning less contact area and therefore less friction.. at least that's the main difference I see between it and the traditional Sanwa JLF. Pretty sure they even highlight that as a key feature on the box.

I currently play with 3 HRAP and this Hori Edge (different setups, Seimitsu, Sanwa...). I had the same doubt with the Noir layout, but actually, I am in love with the Edge and I think that this Noir layout is only an issue if you play with the Edge on your knees. For a few month, as I was cramped due to a not super good seat, I started to play with my sticks on my desk. In this position, the stick is a bit more distant than on knees, of course, and my arms are then naturally more straight. The noir layout is making NO issue then. In addition, the Edge on desk is making it fantastic, very close of cabinet feeling!

The reason i went with the pearl over the obsidian was partially the noir layout, since i tend to put crown 202's in everything, and i didn't want to need to chop a portion of 3 rings off to fit them by the board.... But i prefer viewlix over noir, and sega 2p over viewlix With that said, i am looking in to a new "premium" stick with a viewlix layout, and the debate is between the massive qanba dragon, and the sleek victrix pro. I do prefer hori stock buttons and lever over sanwa. I usually swap them out anyway, but i kept a hori rap v stock, and am looking for a rap 4 as well so i can keep one stock and swap the other with the optical lever

7:00 it is a mystery to me why the joystick and buttons are so close on a Vewlix layout. Noir is better but like you said still kind of close. One reason could be that because they had to fit P1 and P2 joysticks and buttons on many arcade cabinets and for some reason also decided to make that standard for P1 layout cabinets too. It is even more of an issue to people that are over 190cm tall like me because i have wider shoulders than average Japanese shoulders. I'm ok with the Noir distance and when i made a custom panel for my fightstick i used the Rap V Kai as reference because that has a Vewlix layout with the stick being as far as on a Noir layout. And i don't want to push them apart even if i make a custom panel because i like to keep the layouts as authentic as possible. Historically (before Vewlix and Namco Noir layouts) in the 90's most P1 player layouts were 6 button Noir style and most P2 spots had a 6 button Vewlix style so the P2 could play from an angle. Neither one of them were exactly like Vewlix / Noir layout but the idea was the same.

A little copy/paste of something I wrote a while ago: I have a fighting edge. I've heard some people say that stick is loose compared to a sanwa, but I haven't found that to be true. Over all I'd say the hori is every so slightly snappier and the sanwa feels slightly smoother, it's not as clicky as the hori. I really like the hori buttons though, at first they might feel a little hollow, but after getting used to them I think they're more responsive than the sanwa buttons. The fighting edge feels really nice in the lap, though I prefer heavy sticks, I suspect some people might not like to have it sitting in their lap for an extended period of time. I will say depending on the angle you're using the stick at the edge at the bottom of the faceplate can be uncomfortable on the forearm (Update: I actually stopped using this stick because over time that sharp bevel started causing me pain due to the angle it sits at on my lap). One weird thing, the playstation button whatever they used to put on the logo was water soluble, my finger got a little damp and it just wiped right off, you'd never even know it was there.
@NihongoGamer4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think the idea behind the Hayabusa lever is that it reduces input load when pushing in directions so it has this reputation for being loose but I don’t feel that so much. Is it possible to button map with the fighting edge? iirc Hori Sako had his L1 mapped to a neutral button that allowed him to plink.
@MenosLink4 жыл бұрын
you say the buttons have a shorter travel distance comapared to the game finger . thats because the kuro buttons have a shorter throw on them
@ElNuminos4 жыл бұрын
These are Hayabusa buttons, not Kuro. Hori only uses Hayabusa parts (Stick + Buttons) with their recent Arcade Sticks. Inside it's the same thing as the Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai, just a different housing. I bet it's using even the same PCB.

Seems like that layout is a half hearted attempt at being more ergonomic. Which it would be... If the stick and buttons were spaced *much* further apart. Like, almost shoulder width apart... Then that layout would be very ergonomic and comfortable. But if someone really wanted to go the ergonomic route, they'd be better off making a "Splitbox", Which is basically a Hitbox that splits in the middle and can be any distance apart and on any angle needed for comfort (though you could make it with a stick if preferred) .

Whoa! Unexpected Vai reference. I always thought those monkey grips were cool. Have you seen his recent one handed performance on KZbin?

Is there something like NeoGeo AES stick for PC ?

For me it felt the newer hayabusa buttons have quicker travel & return. Much improved over the older hori buttons.

Nihongo,is Past Gen Fighting Edge (one with touchpad) for 50$ a good deal? Because i have one listing in mind,but seller doesnt ship outside of his town(
@NihongoGamer4 жыл бұрын
Never tried previous gen sticks. Factor in the price of lever/button/PCB replacements and then see if it’s still worth the savings
