A lot of conglomerates have bought out a bunch of brands and reference each other to make similar products at different price points. (Similar to Disney). They seem like organic brands competing with each other but most of them aren’t. You can check the ingredient list of the expensive item and the dupe and single out the added ingredients (typically found in the cheaper item bc fragrances and thickeners and shit). Take a pic of the ingredient list on the back, underline the sus shit using the photo app on your phone and then upload that photo to gemini and ask it to explain the ingredients and what they can potentially do to your skin. It sounds like a lot but I promise you its quick and will save your skin and your wallet 💛💛

You're safe using it unless you have some very specific eye conditions and just use the safety goggles. If you're younger, ask your immediate family cos there are heritable eye conditions, like a corneal dystrophy you have a 50/50 chance of inheriting if either parent has it (they'll know). BUT imo, as someone who's worked with wiring lights & ballasts & such, I think these "light therapy" things are entirely worthless, however mostly harmless. But I mostly used LED light for photosynthetic life (plants and corals), so different world. And what I have heard of "light therapy" fell entirely into "bro science", a particular brand of woo aimed at men: occasional mentions of the red light "tanning" panacea, the most ridiculous one. (José [the bluejay] did a thing about Tucker C's bro-sci nonsense, including the red light woo, and Rebecca Watson has done more than one sceptic type piece specifically on the "red light therapy", at least as it was marketed for men in the most ludicrous way. It's worth some proper research, at least for a giggle.)

Having to keep buying activators reminds me of the Dermaflash dermaplaning device and how it won't let you charge it without taking the blade off. Making them single use blades. But I've found that you can just use a hair tie to attach the top of the device to the charger without taking the blade off. The part of the charger that slides on to the device doesnt actually have any electrical parts on it so it charges perfectly fine without it 👍

Okay not to glaze the company but with dermaplaning, if everything isn't 100% sanitary it can fuck you up big time and give you bad acne. The having to reload the mask was weird and felt very gimmicky. I find that buying electrodes for migraine devices can be a bit overpriced as a needed accessory but I guess these companies need an income stream. I was mad they discontinued the mask but not as mad as when they discontinued body emulsion which was my favorite hand cream in a pump, almost as good as the Norwegian hand cream. This company uses way too many fragrances and is not as gentle as they appear, that is something they could work on.

I worked at Ulta at the time of this launch. I bought it I loved it. It lasted 3 weeks on the shelf then we pulled it.

That was enjoyable.... usually i keep this ideas for my self.. but you have already drawn the picture. We entertain with some colleagues (we are in Research - but you know bioimaging and stuff) to make our own led mask but we some collagen measurement techique (not yet settle in one )so you get face map and leds adapt luminescence to even the collagen the app to guide to the skincare we will offer tailored to your needs and with the mask we can tell if you need some local area care (dunno, put retinol there ) and yeah then it make sense for subscription, nothing less though than this.

I had this mask and hacked the activator until my hacked activator stopped working and now I can’t get a replacement 😢. I got it because Queen Hirons herself specifically recommended this one at the time! It really helped my acne 100%, now I’m struggling with acne again 🙃

I love the Neutrogena mask too! I only stopped using it because I stopped finding affordable activators online. I wish I was more technologically gifted so I could get around that issue without making it more likely to malfunction 🤪

OMG! Ok so I had this light mask, I did the replacements and everything. It worked ok, I never had any problems. But I started to notice it did weird things with my vision. The goggles were green and when you took them off scything looked green for like an hour. Then one day I couldn't find it anymore so I thought they had discontinued it. WRONG! They never reach out to me (I can't speak for others) to say it was being recalled, I never found anything about it until I found it in one random forum. This made me so upset because like I said I bought the replacements and everything so they had to have known I was a customer, I even posted it on Instagram. To not reach out to people is something I could never get passed and I stopped buying the brand completely.

Tbf I’m fairly certain near-infrared light therapy was well-known many years before Neutrogena released a mask version of it. The difference is it was primarily used by doctors to facilitate wound and injury healing of all types, rather than touted as being for normal everyday type of skincare.

In my late 20s I developed Adult Acne after having my 2nd child. Went to the dermatologist and received light therapy 2x a week. This was back in 1995. Light therapy has been around forever.

Oh my GOSH. I HAD THIS MASK! It was gifted to me when I was around 15 by a relative who must have thought I was trendier than I was lol. I used it maybe 4 times over a few years because of how much it hurt my eyes. I had always assumed it was because of my SPD! I had no idea it was such a widespread issue. That mask collected dust under my sink for years before I chucked it. I was listening to this video in the shower like “this sounds familiar……. WAIT A MINUTE!” 😂

James! I'm in the states and I cannot find the Shark CyroGlow mask from your last video in the states, online, or even press of when to expect release here. Any idea of when we should be getting them or who to ask for more info? In case you see this comment, of course. (P.S. I love watching your and Robert's videos, both together and separate. My sister and I used to make each other laugh just as hard as you two do and it makes me miss that. It's a very special thing!)

I'm in the UK and have just bought the shark mask. It does state on the site UK only. It's not available in the US yet, probably as it would be classed as a medical device? There's definitely rules and regulations in different countries, so lots of legalese and red tape to get through to be able to launch a product like this.
@86bIDO52JF17 күн бұрын
@@nixi-bixi It isn't considered a medical device, and we also already have many on the market, such as Dr Dennis Gross and other brands. The Shark one seems to hit all the right spots and is more affordable than the ones that are currently available. I hope it comes here soon! :)

I use the beauty angel full body light therapy at planet fitness. huuuuge game changer for bacne, neck acne, chest heat rashes, etc. always use goggles! The full body thing is giant however. Not sure how it compares with an at home tiny device thing. Idk I don't trust some at home stuff

I had the Lumie Clear to try and treat my acne, I think before the Neutrogena Mask existed. But it only treated a tiny section of the face at a time so I just didn't use it because a session would take too long. Luckily I don't have an acne problem now, so an LED face mask would be a luxury I can't afford.

I actually have a red light therapy device for the face that isn't a full mask, more of a wand. I like it specifically because I can avoid the eye area with the light even if it takes longer to use overall on my full face. A 30 day refill for a device is such bs

Sadly I fell for the trap of their grapefruit face scrub wash thing whatever and it messed up my skin and my lips so bad and idek how it messed up my lips cause I wasn’t even scrubbing my lips but no amount of chapstick or anything would help and anything I put on my face burned..I was so sad but i only used it twice before I stopped so it didn’t do too much damage

I predict that we're going to see similar vision issues with people who use at home hair lasers. You can't convince me that using them without eye protection isn't going to cause some kind of damage.

I always closed my eyes with this sucker, i am for the first time conceptualizing the fact yall were sitting here using this with your eyes open, physically I couldnt, kudos you little warriors. Also, if you opened up the little controller, you could soder the first dot to like the third dot on the motherboard and just change batteries when needed. I had a huge issue throwing a controller in the landfill every thirty days, that is actually wild.
