I was expecting to see you CeraCote the pressure regulator. I know that you've done a ton of other pieces but you don't really have standard grey pot metal anywhere else... I don't know if that was intentional or not, but its at least a suggestion. lol. The build overall is insanely clean and you have tons to be proud of!!!
@andrewgraham99772 жыл бұрын
You're to the part of the build that's really fun for a builder. This is where your vision becomes a real truck and it's looking great.

3:56 i think you should make carb bracket to support the load... vibration could make leaky connection

Austin, we need to have a cars n' coffee here in town!! With you as the Special Guest... I think it would be a great success. This thing is looking sooo good. 🍻

if you install gages where there is alot of rattle or shaking you need to install some kind of bushings to stop it from hitting the gauges. is an engineer thing and has to do with fire wall construction. that's why you don't see gages on built cars under the hood often. they go out quick and cause problems with miss reads. put it behind the fire wall for the best effect and read.

Are you going to satin clear coat the body ? I know that the rat rod guys have a variety of methods to preserve the patina and are simple applications. You could door a faded shop logo on the doors even just for kicks..... truck is coming along and looking great. Looking forward to seeing what's next and the final outcome. You haven't even given any teasers for the FJ lol... looking forward to seeing that build too.

I have an old International Scout that had a small crack in the fuel fill tube. I tried to fix it by cutting it in half and using rubber fill tube to splice it back together. The first time I filled it up after that I could hear a ticking sound. I didn't realize that it was static discharge until it caught on fire. It was quite exciting at the fuel station that day.

You’re build Is very nice and I’m not kicking anything but if your pump only comes on in the crank position that returns when you let go then it might be a problem 😂 and also I like your thinking on the oil pressure “safety” with the pump. Buttt the carbs will run for a solid minute or so before the motor will die on the fuel they have in their bowls. Keep up the good work man. Carbs are a whole other ball game 😅
@austinniemela2 жыл бұрын
The pump will continue to run once the engine is started using the factory wiring like I did! Not like the factory pump quit when the engine is running haha thank you!

Very nice work as always. I would reccomend an extra ground wire from the fuelgauge/old pump assembly to the frame. If the tank supports get corroded, there will be a bad ground. Result is a strange acting fuel gauge and fuelpump issues.
@austinniemela2 жыл бұрын
Well I suppose, but my fuel pump is grounded to the frame with a wire.. seems like about everything on these old trucks ground that way!
