I absolutely loved this song when I was a kid. Then I forgot all about it because I didn't hear it on the radio. Then one day many years later I came across it in a record shop so bought it straight away. Got it home, played it and cried like a baby because I knew those days of my childhood listening to the radio with my sister would never come back.

Wo-o-o-o-ow! So wide is the stereo image now! Sounds lovely. Almost sounds too sophisticated for the "dumb" quality of the original girl-group recording, haha. ("Dumb" is not a diss here; Phil Spector used to ask Sonny Bono, per any new recording he was working on, "Is it dumb enough? Dumb enough for the kids?" Haha). Amazing to hear the horns brought out so clearly here.

I was just watching Something Wild and Melanie Griffth film mother was playing Brach's "minuet in G Major". And I remembered hearing this in the 60s. This a great tribute to Bach😎

For years I have wondered, "What would J.S. Bach's Minuet in G sound like if it were put into words and recorded by an iconic and legendary girl group in 1965 in stereo?" Now, I am listening to the answer. Thanks @Radio Wollaton! #LegendsNeverDie

Nice message, but it's Christian Petzold's Minuet in G
@steveneardley75419 ай бұрын
It is Petzold, but for a long time it was attributed to Bach.

I really like this song, thanks. A question...What was the last major hit single to be recorded in mono? I know The Mighty Quinn was, in 1968. Are there many major hits released after that song, say from 1968 onwards, that were in mono and can you name any?
@radiowollaton85213 жыл бұрын
More than you think actually. I'm trying to identify them all and then do stereo remixes of them. There are lots of mono only reggae singles from the 1960s and 1970s. The latest one I know of is OK Fred by Errol Dunkley from 1979.
@the-scamp3 жыл бұрын
@@radiowollaton8521 Thanks for the reply. I don't know if KZbin will allow it but "She Loves You" by the Beatles is in mono, not sure if you could do that one. It's that song along with "A Whiter Shade of Pale", which are the two huge hits I can name that were in mono. What was the reason for not having songs recorded in stereo when almost all songs released around the same time were in stereo? Was it just that the record company couldn't be bothered, or was there some kind of mistake made?
@radiowollaton85213 жыл бұрын
@@the-scamp No chance of uploading any Beatles songs unfortunately, thanks to the KZbin police. I've never understood the record companies policy on releasing songs in stereo, especially from the late 1960s onwards when studios were had all the latest recording technology at their disposal.
