Well done video. I’m a details guy. I imagine most woodworkers and engineering types are. You could have gone on another 20 minutes about dog hole sizes and getting a true 20mm and I wouldn’t have batted an eye.

Not bad. I was expecting much higher prices considering the competition out there. I make my own tops with a parf guide, but this version is very impressive. I like the slot holes; I may integrate that in one of my next tops. And the sacrificial strip is a must for MFTs IMHO. Nicely done Fred, if I was in the market to buy a top, it would be yours. edit to add: I coat all my mft tops with dewaxed shellac. It adds durability without making the top slippery. I coat the inside of the holes too, then ream them out with the ujk reamer.

Thanks NWGR. I agree on some kind of top coat. It gives it more life and just looks nice too.

Fred, after talking to you on the phone, I was excited about your new products. After seeing them in action, I’m REALLY excited! I have to say, I’ve rarely had such a forehead-slapping moment as when you flipped that top over and set the router gantry on it! 🤯 I literally yelled “NO!” at the screen. 😆 I’ll definitely be ordering some products in the future. Thanks for the innovation!

Hey Barak. Nice to hear from you again. Thank you for watching the video and leaving some nice comments. There has been a lot of effort put into this. There's a few more things behind the curtain that I think will make it even better when we bring them to life.

That router sled feature was really impressive. This thing definitely seems like a solid product at a fraction of festool.

Nice. There are a few inherent flaws. In this case, inherent is quite literal since you inherit them from Festool's own design. First you need to remove the saw from the track between cuts. Second, you have to lift the track WAY out of the way instead of just up to release the board. Third, there is nothing preventing chip out where the saw exits the cut. Fourth, if you screw the track to a hinge, then it takes longer than it should to get the track off the table whenever needed. I mention these because I solved them all with my setup. Instead of a hinge, there is a simple board (fence) that can be raised and lowered. The board is wider than the track and gets a deep kerf the first time you make a cut. A peg in the top of the board holds the track in the same location. Attached to the other end of the track is a hook extending down from the track and under the table. The hook sits between two adjustable stops on the edge of the table. One sets squareness. The other just ensures that the track stays snug to the first. The tip of the hook has magnets that catch the bottom of the table. This allows me to only lift this end of the track about 6 inches between cuts. Between the kerf shown in the fence and the minuscule amount of lift on that side, I can very easily line up a cut to a pencil line. A stop on the track prevents the track saw from falling off the far end. The angle is quite shallow so it stays. The saw helps counterbalance the weight of the track making it easier on the magnets. The track can be lifted straight off of the table without losing my setup. The only components left sitting above the level of the table are all on the one side making the table 99% available with minimal effort.

Thanks for watching Pope. I appreciate the feedback. All of these issues have simple solutions and it sounds like you have solved them for your setup. I might not have approached it the same way as you but if you are getting the results you want then that's excellent.

You should develop a system to attach a quadtrack to the top for a fence with a swing stop. Attachment could be similar to the Anchor Dog by Precision Dog and the stop could be similar to or utilize a Kreg, Woodpecker, or Incra stop. I created my own outfeed table utilizing the 20mm dog holes (96mm centers) and haven't been able to find a fence I like that has a measuring tape and ability to add a stop.

Fred this is an awesome product. I have a question I can’t seem to find the answer to. Can you set the height of material being cut? Meaning if you have the track hinge, can you set it to say 3/4” to where the material will slide underneath therefore you don’t have to remove the saw after each cut? If not, I think you should definitely consider a solution for this. It makes repeating cuts very quick. I’m looking for a new top and I’m definitely leaning towards this one. Thanks

What a great alternative to Festool's expensive MFT station. So intrigued by your system, just subscribed. So glad I stumbled across your YT site. Have to study your videos a little more, so I can determine just which set up I want to purchase. Thx again. UPDATE!! So, Fred, after watching several of your videos I bit the bullet on July 4 and ordered your MFT top with extrusion kit + two 72 in extrusions to serve as rails on my saw horses and several dog hole accessories. Can't wait to put to good use. I have a permanent Ron Paulk style MFT workbench that I built myself for home use but your kit will be great for mobile use. Of course, I'll know when I receive the kit but don't see where you mention the dimensions of the MFT top. I'm assuming around 24" x 45"???

Nice, but what I really need is kit or packages that I can purchase. Having to go through all the different pages is information overload for my little brain. I am afraid I end up purchasing parts only to find out that I bought the wrong ones and have to spend even more money to correct my mistake

Hey Cafe. Thanks for watching. We had a big run on the tops based on a video that was released this week that caused us to sell out. The next production run will be on July 3. Orders place before that will begin shipping on July 8. I have opened them back up for pre-order on the website if you want to get in the queue.

But how do you cut a 4' wide board on it? You can lay in on the table because of the dawgs. So how do you square your workpiece to the track?
@GotItMade
@GotItMade 5 ай бұрын
One solutions it to utilize two tops turned 90 degrees and space accordingly on a pair of 72" or 90" TrackTubes. The dog holes are square to the sacrificial cutting strip so it's easy to line everything up.
