Fantastic video! If you didn't already know, Alex Proyas (dir. of The Crow) is making a film R.U.R : A young woman visits the island factory of Rossum's Universal Robots to emancipate the robots from capitalist exploitation, with catastrophic results. Based on the famous 1920 play by Karel Capek, a satire ever more potent for today.

Like now I'm wondering could we even create a spectrum of robot -> golem -> frankenstein's creature and the defining factor is the level of humanity we assign them?

Another great one. The golem comparison is perfect, and something not many people know about. Bonus points for using Evangelion clips, and negative marks for making me hate 2049 😭

2049 was one of my favorite films until very recently when I went to watch it at a local theatre of mine for their Blade Runner series. It was one of those very strange experiences where I've also soured a lot on Denis Villeneuve. I think he does wants to engage with the issues of the past text (he does a lot of similar moves with Dune), but there's something a tad "hand hold-y" to me about it all.

Was writing a long nonsensical comment about connecting Frankenstein, the golem and robots as a circle when a weird thought came to me. Are the star wars druids that don't resemble humans (ex r2d2 and bb8) are they to more humanistic druids (C3PO) what golems are to humans? More concisely, are druids to robots what golems are to humans?
