Vocals and paid views are the things make me distance from Kpop
@lovelydiva067 ай бұрын
For me vocals is one of those things I can forgive if you can give a great performance cause singing and dancing isn’t always easy no matter how much you train to do it and a only a select few can do it flawlessly but the paid views or streaming stuff I really don’t like nor pertake in cause it’s not organic, people are purposely having songs/videos on repeat to drive up the numbers and in the end what does it prove since it’s not organic, to me it proves nothing except a bunch of fans nonstop repeated the song for essentially bragging rights smh
@obriendenis39657 ай бұрын
The thing is alot of people call "paid views" as inorganic. I find that not true at all. You need 30 seconds for it to count as 1 view. It's different from mass streaming just to boost a song up a chart. Now that's what people should call it as "inorganic". I'm not a numbers expert but someone on reddit break it down much better than me why watching ads is more of an organic way than mass streaming.

You know it's a funny thing, my grandparents (born in the 1930s) used to say the same thing about music in the 1960s... Beatles and Beach Boys, the songs are too short, they're simple and meaningless "I love you, yeah yeah yeah".... they hated it. They wanted jazz, they wanted big band, they wanted proper musicians, not Ringo Starr. Then shorter songs fell out of fashion in the 1970s... then they were back in the 1980s.... then they were out of fashion again in the 1990s. It's all cyclical. What I'm saying is.... just give it a while. K-pop will continue to evolve and change.

The rap that the idols read was also invented in the USA. R&B,House, pop music, and rock were also invented in the USA. If it wasn't for America, there would be no K-pop music. Modern K-pop is much better. The vocals and dancing are better, and the music videos are better and more interesting. Stray kids, Ateez, their music is very experimental. The lyrics are only about love, and the lyrics were written for them by other people. I believe that songs should have meaning. They should help in bad times. For example, Stray kids write songs by themselves. They write songs about believing in yourself, about parents, about not being sad, and not paying attention to the words that make you sad. (G) I-DLE writes songs about prejudice, stereotypes, and people's stupidity. BTS songs make sense too. If you have bad times, you can read the translations of the songs, and you will feel better. I think one of the reasons is that from the 4th generation onwards, girl groups (GGs) and boy groups (BGs) have been striving to become the 'next Blackpink' or 'next BTS'. The popularity of BTS and Blackpink in the West might have attracted labels. However, BTS never aimed to become the next Psy or Michael Jackson. Additionally, from the 4th generation onwards, due to the large number of groups, the K-pop fandom has become divided. No group has been able to amass a fandom as huge as Armys and Blinks. I'm not saying the 4th and 5th generations are merely copies of the 3rd generation or unsuccessful.

I think the issue is that there is so much saturation these days of new groups debuting left and right that these "older groups" have to keep up, adding to the pressure and toxicity to the Kpop scene. Especially when these newer groups, like mentioned in the video, are already getting gigs BEFORE they even debut and receive bigger and better opportunities AFTER their debut. It's wild that these luxury brands are booking these idols as ambassadors even before their debut. And why are these companies even allowing this when this group isn't even officially debuted yet? And i get it - money! But they're not even officially debuted yet though! They're not a thing. But with all that said, i dont think Kpop has gotten worse than before per se. Modern K-pop is much better. The vocals and dancing are better, and the music videos are better and more interesting. Stray kids, Ateez, their music is very experimental. In the U.S. Nobody does that kind of music. And they always sing without phonograms or lip sync. By the way, Ateez has a main vocalist Jongho, who is one of the best vocalists in Korea. The old K-pop is monotonous and boring. The old K-pop is monotonous and boring. And there are a lot of cliches, not in modern but old K-pop. If you don't understand this, then you are an idiot. Their songs help me in bad times.Old K-pop is just nostalgia and nothing more. Don't dwell on the past. I just don't like people who say it was better in the past. Stop slandering modern groups, and don't be stupid idiots.
