I never said Adele wasn’t talented, don’t put words in my mouth. Adele would have been successful anyway but Amy deserves credit (which Adele has given her) in terms of HOW BIG Adele has obviously gone. Back to Black came out in 2006, Adele had two records out in the 5 years following whereas Amy had none. The anticipation for Amy inevitably leaned towards Adele because Amy hadn’t put an album out. So Amy had already brought hype to UK artists while she was alive.

I had approached her to do an interview and she had literally no interest, however she was more than willing to just talk as a person. She was sweet, she was funny, but she also was lonely. In my time with her she seemed to be a bit like a little kid alone at home waiting for their parent to come home; she’d get upset and concerned if I went too long without replying, assuming I abandoned her. When I saw the things the press was saying about this woman I knew I was angry and heart broken. It was so one dimensional, so condescending, and so shitty as all of the papers just wanted to cover the same things. She deserved understanding and kindness as that’s what she brought to the table.

Blake was a piece of shit but amy was found comfort in dysfunction due to her father abandoning her, if her and blake didn’t get together, she would’ve found another ‘blake’. After hearing Demi’s story from her recent documentary , its so sad how , in retrospect , how little support celebs dealing with very severe and very real issues during this period had access to . I’m so glad it has gotten better now and the stigma around mental health and addiction is slowly being dismantled . Amy , and every other member of the “27 club” deserved so much more .

The thing that doesn’t sit right with me is once when she was passed out, her management carried her out of her house, put her onto a plane to perform in Europe somewhere. She obviously had a awful performance and people were booing etc. Her management gets a small blame for putting her in those unhealthy situations.

@HeatherHolt5 жыл бұрын
I watched the documentary about her called “Amy” and it was so depressing. I felt so bad... it showed how her dad was totally exploiting her fame for his own gains. And unfortunately she took solace in the bottom of the bottle. She became a joke in the eyes of the public and sadly death was just inevitable as everyone around her obviously just used her up and no one seemed to care enough to get her the help she desperately needed.
@josephwilson2823 жыл бұрын
She was never a joke. She was always a musical legend. I am fed up of people saying that, as it undermines the great accomplishments she made in life.
@blahblahblah68982 жыл бұрын
It was really just the public (or part of it) that thought she was a joke cause from the moment frank came out up until the day she died she was viewed as an absolute talented musical genius by both critics and fellow artists… some artists have the masses on their side but lack the acceptance and liking from experienced critics and fellow musical legends, some are critically acclaimed but lack the public to be considered a legend, Amy at one point was able to fully balance it out being viewed as a legend by both, which is not only revealing of her talent but also extremely difficult to accomplish.
@diobrando3662 жыл бұрын

Amy was a genuinely talented voice in an ocean of so-so partial talents, and flash in the pan, glory-seeking ghosts. There won't soon be another comparable to her, when such unique performers as she was, come along infrequently at best. She was a once in a lifetime gem of an artist with a nearly unheard-of ability to conjure and evoke the spirits of long-dead sultry R & B singers, or as extracted from the annals of historic female Jazz vocalists, of which Billie Holiday emerges to memory...

It's sad to say this because I love her so much but I somehow wish she never became as famous as she did, even if it means I wouldn't have heard of her. It was probably her dream to be able to perform at small jazz clubs/pubs whenever she wanted and to go back to a family at home. Oh god, I saw the thumbnail and title and I immediately became teary eyed. my poor Amy:-(. Everyone blames Blake for her demise and he was no doubt an enabler and contributed to her rampant drug abuse, however HER father Mitch was the catalyst to her destruction. Amy was his cash cow, she wrote Rehab while in the throughs of alcoholism and he missed a pivotal moment in her life to intervene and get her some help. The way the media treated her was disgusting, she was a bulimic in addition to being an heavy addict. Her bulimia caused such long term damage to her heart and its speculated that THATs what killed her
