Growing up, I naturally looked similar to Victoria Secret models. I am tall and slim. I did not starve myself. I was involved in sports, but never worked out outside of them. As we all know women’s bodies are trends, and when the trend started to shift to curvy I got severely bullied for my appearance. Victoria Secret never had a negative impact on me, because I looked similarly. Instagram models on the other hand impacted me significantly. As someone who looks similar to Victoria Secret standards, I do NOT want it to come back. Diversity is SO important. Young girls need to see themselves portrayed, whether they look like a VS model or a Fenti model. As you said at the end, I also think a big part of people wanting it to come back is because the trend is starting to shift back to skinny. As well as people being tired of the extremes of people pushing diversity in everything, but I truly believe when it comes to women’s bodies diversity is a must for young girls development. You can have an elite group of models who are other worldly beautiful, while still portraying many body types.

im so happy skinny is back. Maybe brands will start making clothes for women smaller than a size 2-4. i can never find anything growing up always being a size 0. as a black girl, i was forcefed, and beaten for not being able to eat much. my nickname was bones, skinnyminnie, and my uncles still shame my body to point i cry. I've stopped trying so hard to gain weight, Ive never starved myself, never been unhealthy but being the only skinny black girl was tough growing up. i hate seeing how so many are trying to erase thin women from media and automatically claim that being thin is wrong as well...so while i want skinny tobe back, i do definitely agree diversity is needed. skinny girls didnt disappear on the past decade and a half of bbls and curvy being in. i don't think skinny is an extreme though, though diversity is the perfect balance. i do like how dolls are having more diverse body types.

@@thehamsterarmy2380 You seem pretty young. Your family and peers are dead wrong for commenting on your body like that, and the black community has always been horrible about treating skinny girls badly. I grew on the "stout" side, and people would comment about me "looking grown" or fat, or any other inappropriate terms. As I grew in height, I became athletic, but faced lots of weight fluctuations due to hormones. I just had to learn to accept myself in all forms. The only way to escape this is to not fall victim to the trends, because as soon as skinny comes back it will be gone again. Sending huge amounts of love for you!

As someone who works in marketing, I've come to realise that consumer thinking has changed over the last couple decades. People were fine not being in the target market of marketing but would still buy the products. I sort of dislike that people seem to gloss over their downfall as the audience being “insecure”. If anything the audience wanted VS to be inclusive in store. The way they treated the models and the BTS scandal is what brought their downfall. Nobody is actually expecting/canceling high brands (like Versace ) to be body inclusive. We have accepted their requirements. Their rebrand to include plus size models failed because they put no effort in the materials and removed the original wings, shine and glitter.

It was a big deal for my friends and I and none of us were under size 10. 🤷🏽♀️ We would take that night off work, order food and make a fun night of it. None of us wanted the 'supermodel bodies' and we were diverse in race, body types and skin tone... we were more concerned with collecting the Angel Robes, lol. Listen, to me, the show was fun, the music was great and the atmosphere was just feminine and flirty. I don't rely on outside sources for my self-esteem so it never really bothered me in that manner. Also, the sale after the show was a thrifty girl's dream.😊 There's space for Fenty Fashion Show and Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. I enjoyed them both. Yes, Bring it back.

What was amazing about VS in the 90s (in my opinion) was that the women were just exceptionally beautiful SUPERMODELS. They were fit, slim, but not unbelievably so. They did have brown skin models. The women looked late 20's early 30's. There was something so alluring and slightly mysterious about it and even the models. Then the models became rail thin, looked like typical editorial models, and for me...VS lost it's essence. It will never happen but I would love to see a VS show like in the 90's with a normal looking runway, and stunning models in amazingly designed classic beautiful lingerie that look both healthy but amazing, not the overdone with the celebrity singers and all the confetti and 'edgy' looking pieces that I would never buy, personally. But I don't think that is the direction most women would want to see...I don't have a problem with the show coming back as it was though, it just never interested me or made we want to buy anything lol. Also in the 90s the lingerie looked high quality. Now, in some of the still shots of the recent shows, the pieces look like cheap ill fitting polyester. But it's been a LONG time since VS was a quality true lingerie brand, it's just a typical fast fashion brand now.

The "brown" models came after years of only featuring white ones. And for a long time, Tyra was the only Black model featured, in which case, there were 6 or 7 other white models and only one (Tyra) to represent all minority groups.

Idk as asian girl, the beauty standard wayy worse worse nowadays than VS era as the same as the skin color inclusive issue or body image. So if the downfall of vs abt inclusive and body image, i cannot relate. Because i think the biggest influence of this pressure is our society itself. Also as a genz even when vs didn’t create any fashion show anymore, the hype was very low, the toxic beauty standards still exist and getting crazier on the internet. Everything gonna lead to how you controll your self love over your body, you can like and being amazed by models. But at the end of the day you can choose what bikinis/lingerie suits you the most. Since so many video of body positivity like “you can still be confidence wearing this kind of clothes” etc. Furthermore seeing VS has trying to expand their size range now, i think it’s not only abt how the brand take a note from their target audience. But we as a women ourselves should take it wisely, they could be inspire you not controlling you. What i like the most of vs angels back then was their confidence, the way adriana lima said she isn’t afraid of aging and her positive energy radiates on the runaway. CONFIDENCE. Women values more than visual aspects, let’s remember that and seeing things differently this time. Being skinny is hard, as the same as being in medium size/plus size. Being a women always been hard in every aspect. Let’s not be influenced so much by brand identity and beauty standards.

I think Victoria’s Secret should bring the show back. It represented the onset of the holiday season. The criticisms were comfort and inclusivity…not sexiness. Every woman of every color and size who has a love interest wants to look sexy at some point in their lives. What Victoria’s Secret failed to do is make the fantasy achievable for every woman. We want glamor and seduction, just make it inclusive. Tall beautiful women of different sizes, ethnicities, and ages. And spend the money on materials and wiring to make things more comfortable.
@Oniki3824 ай бұрын
I think they heard “oh, diversity?” and thought that was synonymous with a lack of fantasy/glamour. How did gen z destroyed that when the reason why vs shows are cancelled is cause it’s problematic. Starving the models til they didn’t have their period anymore they were unhealthy just for the sake of men’s eyes and the owner of VS participated in sex trafficking and made transphobic comments + let’s not forget ab Epstein and him faking VS shows audition and the owner of VS being aware of it. I'm older than you, and you're neglecting that the quality went down and the prices went up..... the target audience is American women that average a size 14... being inclusive increased their sales.... if they bring it back, it will have to have a more diverse range of models. The customers spending money don't want to be ignored. Another thing being overlooked is the importance of online sales.... fenty is a huge competitor, but they haven't come close to VS market share... Everyone is shopping online after covid, the options open up tremendously for a range of needs previously ignored by VS.. larger bands, bigger cups, better designs, and competitive prices....VS used to be a female right of passage ... everything else in most malls was aimed at old ladies.. but today's VS isn't the same experience. They have Pink going against Aeri. All the perfumes and body care competing with bath and body works and higher end fragrance . BODY for those seeking comfort and other lines for more sex appeal. Another smart decision was partnership with smaller brands... these are changes helping to increase thier profits and they would be foolish to bring the same old show

Models, Victoria secret atleast are supposed to have UNNATTAINABLE bodies, Times have changed, People no longer starve themselves, Most just workout twice a day and diet.

The only reason i dont shop there because their sizing method is awful and wrong every time, even if you supposedly fit into their standard. Their sizing method is outdated and limited, and they ALWAYS put you in something a size smaller than you actually are. And if you're too small or too big for their limited sizing, too bad, you must be too ugly to wear cute lingerie!! (/s)or they just put you in the the latlrgest/smallest size they can find and it's still gonna suck. Not to mention. They don't actually cater to women, they cater to men.

Exactly, this is one the problem! But everyone else thinks it was seeing skinny white women walk down the runway.

I think their biggest downfall is their ability to adapt to the times lol as a a business owner you have to realize trends come and go and you especially as a FASHION brand should stay on top of that. Since there is a lot of nostalgia for 2000s and 2010s they can come back if they play their cards right tbh.

Kendall Is a supermodel since when, I never even knew she was in VS. but nah man she’s just not on par with naiomi, imam, Tyra etc all the supermodels literally all started from the bottom came to the top this girlHad access from the get go which is why their supermodel Title feels More earned than Kendall’s sorry not sorry about it. I don’t get why people even regard the kardashians as talented at all. I Remeber the shows and watching as a kid. And I Remeber that even tho I loved the sexy look and smelling good from the products seeing those skinny woman being propped up and seeing woman like that being uplifted made me feel like yeah I’m not attractive. Then when the curvy body was in I still did not feel attractive because I’m not to skinny but I’m also not incredibly curvy. Made me feel Like I could not fit anywhere just had to learn to love myself but the whole skinny girl image did make woman feel like crap

I feel like they could've made their inclusivity thing work if they did it differently like there are other super hot unattainable type bodies that aren't just super skinny. Like during the body positivity movement they could've gotten more ethnicity but still kept that amazingly impossibly clear skin, could've got bigger bodies that weren't super big so they still felt like a fantasy. when everyone wanted body positivity they couldve just got people with bigger butts and boobs yea still problematic but for them anything other than Victoria secret angel size would've looked like a turn in the right direction and it would feel like the brand still

People defo want what they can’t have. It’s a bit confusing how people want what they cancelled back. Not surprising how the “skinny is back” has been on a rise these last couple of years.

Why don’t they just make a segment in the show dedicated to comfort but cute, and then another to being sexy and toxic?😂 That way, they’d showcase the comfort cute on an average body, but offer sizing for all. Why does it have to be one or the other?
