About the skinny jeans, the trends on social media differ greatly from real life. Most people I know still wear skinny jeans and whatever they have in their closet, it’s not normal to get a new wardrobe every season

I still wore skinny jeans throughout the whole baggy jean thing. Nobody said anything so it just seems normal. I never really liked baggy jeans because I just find them to look a little messy and unkempt in certain outfits. And my mom still wears jeans from the 2010s that had those cute back pockets designs, like Y2K style just because they still fit her from years ago. There's no point in throwing things you like out. They all do just come back apparently lol.

Social media has distorted the self-perception of individuals across all age groups, including adults who are making harmful alterations to their bodies. "2000s skinny" sounds like an eating disorder.
@SofrithoСағат бұрын
@@someusername4129 Not necessarily. Plenty of people are naturally thin. In the 2000’s and 2010’s I was very thin but I never wanted to be that thin. I had friends hate that I’d eat however I wanted n not gain weight. I’ve had two kids now and I’m still on the thinner side. Just larger lady lumps for the most part and my body in total is healthier looking. I had a thigh gap in the 2000’s. A lot of people thought I was too skinny but I promise there are PLENTY of women who are skinny by nature. I’m happy with my body now and I’d never want to go back BUT I can see why some women would want to get back to a previous weight. The thick trend took over us. Even me at 20 lbs heavier I had a WAGON but I lost them because I cannot keep that weight up unless I’m eating entirely too much and unhealthily. People having a desire to get back to a weight that is natural for them is NOT an eating disorder. Some people with eating disorders might use it as an excuse but that’s not going to be the norm. It’s unkind to accuse people of something so serious with absolutely no evidence. Not to mention a hell of a reach.

The verse of the day is so relevant to the video topic. I find that folks often understand “laying down your life for others” is simply serving other people, but in addition to that, the choices you make for yourself also impact others. Now I’m not saying that every single thing one does should be for others, but it’s good to bear in mind how your decisions and how you publicly share those decisions influence others. Whether we like it or not, we bear responsibility for those influenced by us. This also reminds me of Ubuntu, “I am because we are”. Just sharing my thoughts… Great video, Toni!!

A big step towards women being more confident in ourselves is to stop basing our self esteem off of how men view us, or how we THINK men view us. Or how anyone views us. It’s really hard, but it will help over time. Do YOU like how you look? If you were the ONLY PERSON that existed, how would you see yourself? Men’s and women’s tastes change with the culture and the times, but that never ever takes away (or adds to) your beauty. You were crafted by God (or Mother Nature, whatever you believe). THAT is beautiful.

Imagine getting rid of your stuff or not wearing what you want to follow an influencer or trend. 🥴 And some of these women talking about regretting BBLs are missing the main problem. Like, they’re not just saying “I don’t like the bbl because it’s just not right for me”…they’re saying “I regret it because skinny is in again” - this is your only body, stop treating it like a clothing trend you can put on or take off smh. I looked up bone shaving. Bone shaving, or bone cutting, is a surgical procedure where portions of your bones are reshaped or removed. It can be used for aesthetic purposes like some of these baddies are using it for, but it can also be used to fix skeletal deformities

My own style is always "a little bit of this, a little bit of that" 😭 I can’t decide what i like the most and what makes me happy the most so I always try to mix everything and make it look good 😭 if I had the time and money I’d mix some elements of douyin, gyaru, y2k,streetwear, elegant,goth/grunge and basic fashion and makeup etc. it’s messy or indecisive but at least I‘m happy and not doing it for Trends only.

I am glad that I am not usually online, don’t have a lot of social media, and don’t follow trends. As someone who feels inferiority about my body, I always try to do more self love than changing myself. I think of how to improve for myself rather than for others. I recently started doing makeup not because of others but because I want to be a girly girl. If I ever felt like “I wish I can be look like her.” I remind myself that it is either makeup or surgeries. Even the “ugly” or “untrendy” people found love. Please know that you are beautiful as yourself. You are loved by certain people, just not the masses, which you don’t need.

My take on plastic surgery is that it’s so weird that your letting someone open your face alive just to adjust to your liking like their was something wrong with your features this procedure were made for people with malformations or serious injuries but these healthy people are going to to spend money just for that it’s so not worth it every person I see who got it on social media or in irl look so not human and older not to be mean but they’re idea of perfection is disturbing /In just the fact that young people have the thought of going through it is crazy it’s not normal that your going ur ways to let someone open you face

Genuine question: at what point do we take some of the responsibility off of social media platforms and onto ourselves? We all know social media fucks with our self perception, this has been studied. There’s plenty of articles detailing it. So at what point do people delete the damn app BEFORE paying thousands of dollars for surgery?????? If something as simple as an app is making you feel like you want to change everything about yourself, at what point do you stop blaming yourself and blaming the app?

I’m in my 40s and I’m not jumping on any trends. All I do is continue to eat healthy and exercise. They want to keep women insecure so they spend more money. my 14 year old niece already has a crazy skin care routine and a massive collection of makeup, it never ends.

Botox and fillers block your lymphatic system in your face, you need this for various reasons, one reason is to remove wastes from your face.

That fact that most kids want to become influencers is sort of like all the kids that said they wanted to be an actor/actress. I was one of those kids, but understood "making it" as an actress is tough, so you gotta fall back on something else. The problem with influencing is there aren't barriers like talent agencies and tryouts for roles. You just put yourself out there and see what happens and, unfortunately, sometimes being a horrible person will give you the attention and ability to make a living. That part makes me sick because there are already influencers making good money just being a bad role model. Anyway, I'm glad you're wholesome and have a good following. I hope the trend swings where people who are doing good with their influence gain more attention.

I truly think people are trying to keep up with how they look with filters on, and maybe even trying to chase the “fountain of youth”. By all means, do what you want with your body & money but health should be #1 priority.

She said she was going to get the eyebrow lift because of “Aesthetics”. That sounds crazy, current trends are temporary… eyebrow placement, shapes etc changes frequently. I feel bad for the guys and girls. Surgery is fine if you really want it but the talking down on yourself or doing things because of trends is scary. Not to mention in real life you can see it especially the fillers.

Personally I would hate it if I couldn't put on a single article of clothing without everyone losing their mind and wondering what it "meant." Wouldn't trade places with Alex Earle for anything. This desire for conformity is really creepy. It's so uncreative and the sad truth is that there will always be a lot of people that can't conform and will feel bad that they can't. I like unique features, personally. That whole nose fold thing is weird. I have kind of a flat face which I've never loved about myself but I don't have those facial folds so I guess my face is trendy now? It's ridiculous.

There was a lady in Indian considered the reincarnation of a god. Why? As she internally knew all the rituals without being taught (Imagine the avatar already knowing how to avatar state with no teacher - extensive processes at that) and gurus across the nation flocked to hear her speak. One thing they noticed is that not a single photo could ever capture how she really looked.......... Photos do not capture how or what people experience with you However I will admit taking photos, like of your food, has been proven to boost the connection to an event or experience but you cannot expect that of every subjective viewer of said image

I wouldnt advise any lady younger than 30 with no kids to get surgery coz your body is still developing you might speed up your aging process if you get any procedures or take medications that flactuate your weight or skin.

we are trully failing as a society if people pay more attention, time and money to how they look on they outside rather than how they feel and are on the inside. Not to even mention that they are undergoing extremely dangerous operations just for looks, really insane

Getting unnecessary cosmetic surgery at SUCH a YOUNG age has to qualify as self harm. It just got to. Facelift at 24 is diabolical af, like you're not even fully developed yet. And the fact that many are aware of the immense risk yet choose to do it? Or do them only to regret it later like someone forced them to get it is first place has to be considered self harm
