Eventually, and not soon enough, violent rape or assault needs to just carry a lifetime sentence. No do overs, no early release, no parole, just enjoy prison till they carry you to a grave. And add violence in general.

It's tough. it's a tightrope walk because you want to present the world and raise the child as trashing and loving, but you still need to find a way to instill fear and caution for the morally corrupt out there. How do you square that circle? How do you teach the children to fear the fire without letting them get burned once?

This case is awfully sad for Marie😢 Such a sweet and obviously loved and quite talented young lady to have been murdered. The investigative work was very impressive and although New Zealand clearly has quite lax sentencing guidelines they can use to put away murderers like this one, law enforcement works well at identifying the responsible perpetrator.

And then suddenly when she is 18 and totally unprepared for life you send her out in the world? True story... my 12 yr old son wanted to be left at home for the summer rather than sent to child care. I actually called the police to see if there was some legal age for that (because I had a very vindictive ex). They said it really just depends on the maturity of the child. My son was an excellent student and pretty level headed so I let him. I also bought a lot of models to put together and kept him busy with baseball in the evenings and I sent his younger brother to daycare.

The blame lies with the psychopath that killed her. I watched numerous episodes of this show, all New Zealand. The highest penalty was the one, 19 years. All were rape murders. I would ssy this country doesn't believe that crimes against women is a heinous crime. He should've received the death penalty.
