The Gobbledy Gooker is one of the WWF's most infamous characters. Revealed at the 1990 Survivor Series after hatching from a giant egg, the WWF animal mascot was supposed to appeal to younger audiences but instead it lives on as one of the company's worst ideas.
Hector Guerrero was under the turkey suit and his task was to perform flips, dives and rolls to appease audiences at live events. A botch in Madison Square Garden where the Gobbledy Gooker fell inside the ring left Vince McMahon quite angry backstage and Hector knew that his days were maybe numbered after the trip-up. Still, years after making his debut, the WWF's turkey mascot was able to make a comeback at the WrestleMania X-7 Gimmick Battle Royal, and to this day, the Gobbledy Gooker still makes appearances on TV (usually around Thanksgiving time or at Survivor Series shows).

The Gooker's debut was more historic than The Undertaker's debut. In an alternate universe, the Gobbledy Gooker goes over well, Undertaker flops and the Gooker goes on an unreal WrestleMania win streak.

In all honesty at that point in time Hector's style probably wasn't what Vince would have wanted anyway and it's not like they hired him first then chose the character later he was hired specifically because he could actually still do all that stuff in the suit.

I remember watching Survivor Series 1990 and my whole family were laughing out asses off with Rowdy Roddy Piper on commentary. When I came back to school to bring up the Gobbledygooker to my classmates, everybody groaned. I realized at that point that the world thought differently about the debut character. Being born in 1998 means I wasn't alive to see a lot of the major events in wrestling history. I thoroughly enjoy watching these videos and especially Reliving the War; unfortunately, some research on dates has shown a sad thing: as Nitro officially goes off the air for the last time on March 26, 2001, prior to Wrestlemania X7. We will not get to see the Gobbledy Gooker officially appear in character on Reliving the War, but Hector Guerrero has already had a match that partially contributed to a point being won on November 4, 1996, a point Nitro needed to force a draw going up against the "Pillman's Got a Gun" episode of RAW.
