I love this! Thanks for making it. One thing that people often don’t know is that she did have friends in her old age. There are several podcasts with interviews of her friends who were close to her when she died and state that her being a recluse is not true. They admit aspects of her were indeed problematic and she was eccentric and moody but they found her likable, funny, deep, and inspiring. They said she was a good person, just cynical about a lot of the bad forces in the world including the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians (which is very poignant now), There’s lots of misinformation about her and it’s become part of her lore, for better or worse.

I really like the way you tell stories and talk about this topic; it's very vivid. Your story reminds me of a passage in the novel, where she and Carol are in the car, and she wishes the tunnel would collapse, killing both of them, and their bodies would be pulled out together. When I read that part, I was quite surprised by her bold thinking.

I am writing an article based on a book. Please can you contact me and tell me what books you took the information you said in the video from. Please tell me if you know where to find Highsmith's drafts of this novel, her Writer's Notes. I saw a draft of The Price of Salt in the video? I really need that.

Can you give me some examples from the book about sado-masochistic/BDSM?

Why can’t the book just be a love story or just a book about forbidden love? Why does it have to be a queer book or a lesbian book or gay story? I just hate the labels. It’s just a love story!

Because it’s extremely meaningful for lesbians, specifically, then and now. Labels aren’t always bad, and sometimes it can be harmful to dismiss them, when it comes to things like this.

Imagine trying to erase homosexuals, specially the ones that don’t center men. Your misogyny is out
