Why? Why does everyone have this? And I'm talking about stuff that is BEYOND a guilty pleasure. If that thing you say you "love" embarrasses you? Why do you continue to love it? If you don’t have the love from then it’s a little hard to appreciate it now or just from some of the very poppy past radio hits. Under the table and dreaming, crash, live at Luther college, red rocks, those had virtually all hits. I've seen DMB live multiple times. Thankfully i was paid to be there because I thought the music was lame and mushy with no real contour.

Couldn’t disagree more. I understand it’s comedy but it’s a very unfair, stubborn, ignorant assessment. Being the second highest ticket seller of all time, I’m sure the group is doing something right. Boring? Carter Beauford is consistently ranked as one of the best drummers of all time. He can play rhythms and grooves that no else can. You simply can’t deny the technical ability of the musicians, and frankly doing so just makes you look like an idiot. I think this guy needs to listen to more music and do less of this “comedy” act. Yes I’m looking for an argument.
@DMTsmoke Жыл бұрын
They have a good drummer who unfortunately doesn't understand the importance of occasional self-restraint. Nickelback and Creed sold more albums than DMB in a shorter timespan. Success does not make Dave Matthews good. Donnie Darko, Blow Out, Bottle Rocket, Paris, Texas, The Iron Giant, Mulholland Drive, The Thing, and Fight Club all failed at the box office. The Last Airbender, Jack and Jill, Wild Hogs, Little Fockers, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and After Earth did not. DMB is perhaps the ultimate symbol of bland, monotonous, middle-of-the-road, one-size-fits-all, predictable, unchallenging, milquetoast, toothless, corporate, calculated, pedestrian, easy listening fodder designed not to scare anyone away from jumping on the bandwagon. DMB is, at best, a phase that you go through, grow out of, and move on to more advanced material. Dave Matthews is an also-ran along the lines of a Darius Rucker, a John Mayer, a Jack Johnson, a Rob Thomas, Adam Duritz, Chris Barron, John Ondrasik, Lenny Kravitz, Bryan Adams, Mark McGrath, Josh Groban, Aaron Lewis, Gavin Rossdale, etc. Yes, the band is professional, but so are tons of other bands who demonstrated balls and brains, and used their talents to deliver iconic, groundbreaking music rather than a safe middle ground.
