Upon rewatching I realized that at 1:34:17 Tim asks the detective whether or not he's requested a handwriting analyses from the defendant, to which the detective responds "no" This is what inspires him to forge a letter by Luther and have Manuel present it to the court much later at 3:50:00

I remember watching a reaction video on this from an IRL Lawyer that pretty much said technically you could object to a prosecutor asking a witness what they would say to a deceased loved one, but no self respecting defense attorney would ever consider interrupting a question like that in this context. This is Tim Heidecker's masterpiece. It's a comedy milestone, I'm shocked it doesn't have millions of views. I also love that you can come into it blind -knowing nothing of the On Cinema "universe" -and still have a great time. Everyone drops hints at what has happened over the years and you create the backstory in your own mind.

Oh, sorry, I’m now hearing the defendant speak with his attorney and it seems real-ish. But I feel a little bit like I’m under the influence of something. Seriously , the judge seems like a cliché, as does the defendant. The EMT woman seemed as though she was acting , although poorly. Idk, it all seems very stilted, know what I mean ? Lastly, please tell me you find the defendant to be a perfect, scarlet a-hole ?? He’s just a foul human. At least he seems to be. Ty !

if i didn't know who Tim was, like at all, i would have thought this was REAL it's so well done i hate those mockumentary style movies / videos where they overdo it because they're trying so hard to seem genuine. like this is probably the realest mockumentary i've ever seen; the acting, the set design, the lighting, the costuming and makeup, the camera placement, the audio, even the onscreen graphics - it all looks and feels like an actual courtroom. amazing work, everyone who worked on this should be really proud of themselves fr

This understands what mockumentary is on a deeper level. Many "mockumentaries" get lost in the quick editing and awkward reaction shots which give more of a "The Office" or "Arrested Development" vibe. Both of which are great comedies but they're comedies first. Imo, "Trial" pulls of the mockumentary feeling but its almost obsessive attention to detail. As I stated in another comment, this gets everything right, down to the font and way the information is displayed

Yes, I think it’s funny as fuckk whenever slower, lesser sense of humor folks will try n claim that Tim n eric isn’t funny at all because they simply can’t grasp the concept of their style and that they, alot of the time, are actually making fun of comedy it’s SELF.. 😋 They somehow find ways to make fun of the overall comical process of making fun of whatever it is that gets made fun of now days or any comedy of the past. 🤣 & these dry humor types who only know how to laugh at direct, specified and obvious forms of jokes that are always served with a little ‘punchline’ at the end of it. The type of jokes that to us much more advanced Tim & Eric fans, can’t even stand & don’t even find to be slightly funny whatsoever. Are able to eventually laugh twice as hard at, thanks to folks like Tim Heidecker who you just need to be present with during those jokes being delivered the way they do, resulting in their little 2 dollar golf clap - laughs, that you can’t even figure out how those people just honestly laughed at that, to turn around and make eye contact with someone like tim who’s sitting there totally 2 steps ahead of you, ready to LAUGH his ass off with you at the fact that THEY ALL laughed at the standard issue joke that tried to have its reasons of being funny, which just about every time makes it exclusively NOT FUNNY. Us people who are advanced in comedy aren’t looking for anything to ever have clear indicator’s for being funny or that come equipped with a little “punch line” with it. Were ready to laugh at the unspoken, un clarified, indirect, under the table, material that you know is funny simply due to it being either just professionally STUPID/ pointless as fuckk, or SO ignorantly dumb that it required top notch skill and a high IQ and days of research & calculations in order to squeeze out and extract any last trace of intelligence that may be sitting around in it & getting it ALL outta there so your left with someone like “Richard Dunn” who knows not how to even fucking talk correctly and reads off the words on the screen improperly and pluralizes words that are clearly singular form like : The Dungeon with him going “Welcome back to … Dunn -Jinz … I’m your host Richerd .. Dunns …? I think … wait … how’s my own name pronounced again? .. huh?? Oh .. ok … so … uh … we’ll be right back after this commercials …” 😂😂 n THAT to us is genius & gangster comedy at it’s finest cuz we know we’re laughing AT someone who’s mentally challenged & we don’t give half of one whole entire metric FUCK that we are 😂

I spent two weeks on a jury in a civil trial, the goofiness you see here is very close to reality. Two of the jurors spent their days doing crosswords or doodling. The defendant tried to get one juror thrown out because he thought she'd been rude to him at church one time (she didn't go to his church). One juror almost got tossed for vaping in the courthouse. The plaintiffs attorney would have these massive coughing fits near the jury box and was eventually out for two days making the case go longer. The defendants attorney was always trying to throw some goofy jab in that never landed. In the end we deliberated for less than 45 minutes and awarded the plaintiff a very small amount. They should have settled the matter outside of court years ago like adults. I was always interested in being on a jury, that experience cured me for life.

He failed to follow thru with 99% of his warnings, so Tim knew he could continue with his outbursts and nothing would be done. I’ve seen cases like this before where same thing happened over and over. Judge allows it to go on because if he removes him from the courtroom there is a chance this could cause a mistrial even if Tim was taken into next room and attended via Zoom. This happened all throughout the Darrell Brooks trial until the judge just couldn’t take any more of his behavior. He was worse than Tim. So fun to watch!!
