The Trickiest Ship to Land - Watching Your Takeoff and Landings | S2E5

Watching your takeoff and landings in Star Citizen once again. This time we are visiting the frozen planet of microTech, and its space port, New Babbage. During this outing we get a few cameos from some of the more rarer ships in the verse including a Syulen, a Xian cargo hauler from Gatac. Let's see how well players can navigate microTech's harsh weather as the sudden blizzards and whiteouts can make landing a challenge, even under the best of circumstances.

New Babbage is probably the least favorite space port for me to visit and land at. Mostly because Lorville, Area 18, and Orison tend to have very unique vistas to take in as you approach. New Babbage doesn't have much else going for it, although it being nestled in a cliff facing is pretty cool, would be neat if the cliffs where a lot more shear but that is just me. Also the constant blizzards/whiteouts can be annoying when flying at those low altitudes. Would not be as bad if we had landing aids in the cockpit for assistance but oh well. Which space port is your favorite to visit? And where do you think we should head next? See you all in the next one. o7

New Babbage is actually my favorite because I often buzz the garage area and then zoom along the tracks for the tram in hopes that a player is on the tram and can see me flying by lol I then run through my checklist for landing due to the constant thought that maybe, just maybe you're watching haha

really? i feel the opposite, new babbage feels way more.. cozy? than other cities, the flat open areas with few restricted areas feel like fresh air, the weather is annoying but its variety which keeps you on your toes especially for landing bigger ships the city itself has a nice structure thats pretty easy to read also new babbage allows you to do something that no other city allows you to do which is ship skating, i like to take my bigger ships like a 400i and just start skating on the ice, surprisingly i dont blow up but its a bit jank sometimes so take a durable ship

Cut my teeth on New Babbage. Originally when I started SC I chose Area 18, but when the game updated it kept putting me back in NB. I haven't aquired any stuff to put anything into local storage, and by the 2nd update the IAE was here, so eh, saved me a trip. From NB spaceport I got used to flying my starter ship utilizing landmarks for 'touch and goes' at main heading points around the lake, or around the city for longer routes. Familiar with the area, I was really able to get a better 'feel' of all the different ships during the IAE. Still being a newbie, I just stuck to my training flight path skipping all the touchdowns till the end so i can really open up some of the cooler ships. REALLY fell in love with getting used to an Ares Ion that way :D I've learned (the hard way) that the sh!tty weather is at it's worse during sun up/down (barring actual stormy days) i think they're just called 'thermals'. There's probably still an Aurora out there in the trees east of the spaceport :P

I had a Syulen, upgraded to C1. Trust me, it’s 10 times harder to land a C1 in a sinkreight hangar than landing a Syulen

Exactly! I got a A1 for a loaner for a Zeus, and the hangar they give you is barely big enough to squeeze through w/o VTOLs folded - to which I think don't work yet.

I actually like that you can’t see sometimes coming in to land at NB. From a gameplay perspective, it feels like an IFR approach that you would do in real life or on an airplane sim. I do wish they had better instruments though to actually fly in poor weather conditions.

Love the Syulen. Tried different ways of landing. Now, Hangar with front gate i fly in, landing gear on before the gate (because size) and turn to top in the hangar and land. Hangar with gate on top, get position over hangar door, turn to top outside of hangar, landing gear on and use back camera to land in center.

Thanks for another fun video! This series has made me a lot more conscious of how I land. I agree that when the 100 series came out, I thought it was completely unnecessary. Then it was the ship of the month and the first time I walked out onto a pad and saw it, I fell in love with it. I love the lines of it. I bought a 125a for me, my wife, and our son. It's probably my favourite little shuttle when I'm solo. I'm guessing we're seeing so many of them since they're currently the best starter pack for the money. I liked watching you land your MX. I have the base model Fury and hadn't noticed that when you switch to VTOL the bottom thrusters point down but the top thrusters still point back. Interesting detail. I'm curious about that Gemini stencil on the starboard hull under the top thruster. Considering the MX has no weapons, I'll have to check out my Fury.

Always wonder if I'm going to end up in one of these. I was impressed with that carrack landing early on. I took a carrack to Microtech and spent most of my landing process fighting gravity.

I was cheering when I saw the Syulen flying in hoping it was me. Because at the moment NB is my hometown. But when the guy eased themselves through the barely opened hatch I knew it wasnt me :D Also the snowy mountains and the imposing structure of NBIS is very cinematic if you ask me.

you might look into busy mining spots, like SAL-2 or SAL-5, or some of the mining processing like ARC-L1. not necessarily a whole episode, but maybe pick up some on just the moons (visit like each mining outpost and get a couple at each) or visit 2 or 3 refinery stations and combine them. at least it could help you not feel like you're mining for content vs. showing off stanton

Quick tip i learned this week. if you wonder why your ships have a hard time near objects or groudn to stay in hove or to even lift off without a quick afterburner push. Go to Game options and deactivate the option "proximity assist". It reduces your thrusterpowers near obejct. Sadly its on by default while its completely broken and useless and makes some ships uncontrollable near ground.

I'm based out of NB and the blizzards are a pain. But it's the easiest location to find the spaceport. For ships my #1 most difficult is the Reclaimer because of it's flight behavior (or lack thereof) but my 890 jump is tricky simply because it's so big.

Syulen is my baby. I actually thought was me, but I usually have one of the skins on, which gave away it wasn't. Had no idea they were rarer. I really enjoy flying it, though I want money, so I have been on the vulture more often.

Hard to land with the throttle control using the mouse wheel being very hard to moderate, you either go very fast or sit at 0.

Hybrid only flys with Ryanair, cause every other airline opens their landing gear 5 miles before the runway. Not Ryanair Sometimes they open it few seconds before touchdown, sometimes they open it few seconds after touchdown, heck, sometimes they don’t open it at all! That’s what quality stands for How dare those players open their landing gear on approach like every other pilot would Pathetic

you should do a event when people from your community come and perform landings. with names etc. maybe do it somewhere outside with landing on a quickFlare. similar to how yt: Airforceproud95 does it
