The production quality is half decent, the effects are dated, and the story is simple. But the video is still the perfect example of cozy early KZbin creativity. It's something I happily revisit about once a year, and a core memory for me. I hope someday TurboJ comes back to complete the series with a fourth video, ideally just the same quality and cozyness as the rest of the series. This is the kind of stuff I will be showing my kids someday

The Desk Railway, for its time, was one of the greatest stop motion series on KZbin. And TurboJUK was the creator behind the animation, special effects, and iconic characters that made up the eponymous business crew. This is The Trouble with Trains and The Desk Railway Chronicles.

@daniela-tj1cu Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you even used one of the railway series, character whistles like Alfred. You use Alfred whistle yet he wasn’t even created yet. I mean he is a real Thomas character after all, he is a really serious character anyways so that makes him a real character. Same thing with 87546 and the red engine and a naughty engine named 98462 who is actually Alfred original number
@daniela-tj1cu Жыл бұрын

In spite of being 16 years old, this and its sequels still makes me smile and I always have to come back and revisit it every so often (if you couldn't tell by the number of comments I've left over the years on this whole series). The nostalgia is unreal and this series was definitely a big part of my childhood. I'm working on collecting all the engines and characters that I can now as a matter of fact, hopefully someday I'll complete it (atleast as far as the main three TTWT episodes are concerned anyway)
@burningjdm2 жыл бұрын
too true
@Dwurban6410 жыл бұрын
Gotta love TurboJ logic. First TTWT: Train rolls of track, hangs over edge, and falls on itself once: 3 Months to fix Second TTWT: Train collides with a car, derails and and practically FALLS APART: Fixed within the afternoon
@TurboJUK10 жыл бұрын
It's the same sort of logic that meant in TTWT2 Bessie couldn't pull a single overloaded coach after previously pulling two normally loaded coaches.
@Dwurban6410 жыл бұрын
TurboJUK Honestly it doesn't matter. As long as a short film has a good story and pulls you in to keep watching, it doesnt really matter how many petty mistakes there are. (And seeing as all three TTWTs did just that, I guess you could say you did something right.)

After watching your series(multiple times), I have been inspired to follow in your footsteps to make my own creation. It's currently in the works, and won't be produced for a long, LONG time, but I'm trying to create a railway-themed brickfilm series a bit like this one(not a rip off of your stuff, just a slightly similar premise). I just wanted to let you know the impact your work has had on me, and how much I enjoy your videos. Thank you.

Stephen Cranmer im gonna start a series too im just waiting for the parts and the engines
@zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz3854 жыл бұрын
Stephen Cranmer man, coming back to this comment brought back some memories. I had laid the plans for the series and wrote up some storylines, planned the character progression and mapped out the entire railway and setting. But then, I suppose over time I realized just how difficult it would be to not only get started but to keep going and be motivated the entire time to put out A+ material. After looking back over some of the stories I had written, they weren’t the best. Not the worst, but nothing on the level that I’d be proud of today. I had several models built for engines and rolling stock I planned to use which evolved tremendously over time, though only a few still exist today. Seeing them on my shelf reminds me of what could’ve been and what may be someday. So, as it stands now, I’ve essentially put the series on indefinite hiatus without priority. It probably won’t be made in the end, unless I feel inspired enough and am able to network a team of voices and production assistants. I’m currently arms deep in another unrelated creative project entirely, so all my effort is going towards that. But, there’s always hope.
