The ‘horn’ button near the shifter is actually to turn on the Harmon Kardon sound system. The 3 series of that era had that button as an option when the HK system was ordered.

The late 90s-early 00s era with the E46, E39 and E38 was the absolute pinnacle for BMW. I wish I could go back in time and stock pile them new in a warehouse for later. They've gone downhill ever since, never to be duplicated again...
@clitcommander66035 жыл бұрын
In terms of performane ,the pinnacle is the e36 m3 eurospec 3.2 ,321hp. Hand built! The Last Handbuilt m motor. S54 is a Bomb, exploding Rod bearings! E39 is 4.9 litres ?? Making 400hp That is not M displacement for me. Too big ! It's all downhill since 2000. Same with the s65 and s85 motors. Boom! You have no car. Rod Bearing nightmare! Nothing in terms of build quality has been better since the e36 m3 3.2 euro.
@ryanpatterson95265 жыл бұрын
The E36 was a shitbox, quality wise. The interior in mine fell apart like a cheap Camaro

Ryan Patterson maybe the usdm e36 but the euro e36 was built like a tank
@clitcommander66035 жыл бұрын
@@andeleputo89 They are identical up to 90mph. The u.s motor is an Alpina bore 2.5 to 3.0 Actually, the cast iron block in the u.s spec is Stronger for turbo set up! 800hp to 1000hp. In North America we used td06 Mitsubishi 3000gt turbo setup on u.s spec e36 m3's for the first run of modified turbos. It was quite new at the time in the late 90's early 2000's Dados m3 was a great example of the power those setups had, even now that is still incredibly quick! 550hp in 2002 was insane! In Canada we got 45 3.0 euro specs shipped in 1994 plus there was a few 3.2 evos. They were eaten by modified u.s specs! E.s.s supercharged and vortech supercharged u.s specs were hard to catch even for 911's at the time. I remember guys showing up in eurospecs e36 m3s at meets held by maxbimmer in Toronto and dtmpower in Virginia. A few tried to pull on modified u.s spec m3's at stop lights and could not keep up at top end, u.s specs m3s aftermarket superchargers or turbochargers had double the power! North America was much more far ahead in aftermarket tuning bmws then Europe was in the early 2000s.

I am currently considering one of these used cars but very concerned about the horrible reliability of these German cars Your video helped me make my choices - thank you
@kayanthony3746 Жыл бұрын
I know this comment is a year old, if you're still considering one it's worth it. Do an entire full maintenance as soon as you buy it. Cooling system overhaul, change all hoses, seals, gaskets, spark plugs and new battery. I bought my 03 330i 2 years ago and did just that. I haven't had any problems and I've already put 30k miles on the car. When I bought it, it was leaking oil all over the place and the expansion tank was leaking coolant. I did save a lot of money doing the oil pan gasket and cooling system myself but it was a total bitch to do, if you're mechanically inclined you won't have a problem owning one of these you can save a ton of money. If you plan on having a mechanic doing everything for you then I would not recommend this car, that's where it gets expensive.

You're crazy! I have this same model but 2003 and it has been nothing but reliable with almost 150k miles on it. Yes it has had it's issues as of late but that's because of the mileage and age of the vehicle. Any vehicle would begin having issues ove 80 or 90k miles. This car doesn't even creech any sounds, it feels solid and handles amazingly and it's pretty fast too.
@niewissen99125 жыл бұрын
I will argue that your wrong. Yes they all have their faults. But you cant beat the straight 6 bmw makes. Keep it maintained like any other vehicle and it will give you many smiles per mile. My kid has a 330 6sp with zhp package. Over 250 thousands on it. Oil changes and one vanos overhaul and one water pump. Not bad for how it is driven lol but it still not as fun as my e60 but more reliable hahaha that you could argue isnt reliable and I would agree hahaha
