I played as an extra in this movie. They didn't pay us, but they did feed us. We had catering every day and we got to hang out with the actors and see how a film is made. I still have one of the movie props in my attic.

The Final : "Good Afternoon, Good Evening and Good Night" Bit was the Middle finger to Christoph and the Show. This Movie not Ending by showing trumans meeting with Sylvia and his life outside the Truman Show is Forth Wall Breaking Middle Finger to us the audience enjoing our vojoristic emotional need for a happy ending to the Film "The Truman Show". I didnt get it at first either...but its the perfect ending

If you want a happier ending: next time you watch it, pause the video a few times during the scene where Sylvia calls the show, and take a close look around her apartment. Then, at the end, imagine her bringing Truman back to her apartment and his reaction to seeing it. Realizing that the whole time he’s been trying to get to “Fiji” she’s been part of an activist movement to liberate him. 💗

35:12 This scene wrecks me every time. Obviously it’s impossible really to put myself in Truman’s shoes here, but that wall confirmed his worst fears about his world, a soul-crushing moment for him. I empathize with you being emotional here for sure. The only thing that gets me even more emotional is that scene of Sylvia running down the stairs while throwing on a coat.

Other actors were considered for the role. But the director solely wanted Jim Carrey

19:15 Truman noticed that she had her fingers crossed. And that's what he meant when he said "I'll cross my fingers for you" later to her.

@@lizscytheSome people are not familiar with both meanings of the crossed fingers. One is to mean wishing luck. The other is done while making a promise/taking a vow. When it’s done in that situation it would be to signify you are not sincere or the promise is not valid. It is usually done with that hand behind you so the other person can’t see that you are not being sincere. So her doing that during their wedding vows would mean she wasn’t making the vow. Truman realized this when he saw their wedding photo. Then when she was going to work he said he’d cross his fingers for her which was to sarcastically imply sending luck vibes while at the same time revealing he knows about her deception even if she doesn’t catch on.

the movie is ultimately existentialistic. It is the prudence of existentialism, to the core. and also a favour to real life psychosis.

As a new reactor, please be "mindful" of your video being loud enough. A lot of reactors get it right, but some don't. What happens is, if I turn the movie up correctly, then your speaking voice becomes loud enough to wake the dead! So, keep the movie loud enough for "good balance". Other than (volume issues), Good reaction!

Hey there! I really appreciate that insight. Sometimes it is hard when there's music playing in the back when I have to keep copyright issues in mind. I'll try to balance out the audio of the movie in accordance to the loudness of my voice more. :)

Really glad you liked the soundtrack, it's my favourite part of this great film. The composer was Philip Glass, who is a genius and an extremely influential minimalist.

This movie is a story more about us ordinary people rather than about an amoral corporation or questionable show and an evil producer with a god complex. Ordinary People depicted in this movie are ones to blame for what happened to Truman. Those in front of TV screens. Just after when Truman left the show excitement went down and they started to look for anything else to consume and waste their time on. Just like in real life. People get bored quickly. We do live in a time where everything is considered as entertainment there is no taboo. Shows about people cheating each other, hurting others or movies glorifying truly evil people are considered good entertainment etc. And at the end we feed ourselves with harmful and trash content daily then we act surprised that the world is going downhill.
