Strange in an age where access to information is available in a second that “who is Alanis.....” even got typed. That question could’ve been typed into google and would’ve been more effective than typing that into the unanswered vacuum of social media. As a kid (born in '62), Top 40 radio exposed me to music from before my time. Every day, I passively absorbed older music with no effort needed on my part. My kids (born in '98 and '01) have had a vastly different experience without radio. Today's kids must actively seek out older stuff. Once they show an interest in a certain genre or era, streaming music sites start recommending more of the same. Good or bad, it's just really different.
@ahhwe-any74345 жыл бұрын
It's not like older ppl always know WTH they're talking about when it comes to music either. No I'm not super sensitive to the term millennial. I just know I'm the old one. So if I meet that bracket, cusp thing, I just do. As a 36 yr old, just facts. Anyways, the truth about fans...: If you're such a fan of ____, name a song other than hit #1, hit number 2. Me: oh easy, I know even more hits you forgot to mention 😁. Wouldn't consider myself the president of anybody's fan club but whatever. Other fans: blah, blah hate, made up sh you know they're pulling out their asses. As a true open to alotta genres music listener: do you even know what you're talking about? Bc as a non president of anybody's fan club even I know you're b.shitting. that you just wanna hate on something. Simply for the sake of hating on someone. So many ppl lie, argue opinions, & it's really insulting. In general. When I listen to sh tho., I really listen to sh... I grew up in the Midwest. There was all kinds of radio stations. I'd give that credit for my exploration & curiousity. Due to locations, I'm pretty sure exposures vary. But yeah. I guess ppl now go to the i.net more seeking music. Or Sirius or whatever. Prob just depends on the person & what they do in their daily lives 🤔🤷

I always wonder about teens not knowing music from only 20-30 years ago. When I was a teen I knew stuff from that far back and then some, when the internet was just in its infancy and I didn't have the advantage of youtube or spotify etc. It's willful ignorance to not branch out and listen beyond "today's" stuff and they're missing out on real music by doing that. Like, how do you get to the age of 16 without ever hearing Bohemian Rhapsody? It's so incredibly sad what's become of music. It's soulless, vapid, computer generated garbage. A scientific study even proved it, and that's what happens when you take the humanity and art out of the process. You get teenagers thanking Kanye West for giving that Paul McCartney guy some exposure (honestly, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry)!

Currently I love Billie Eilish and Bishop Briggs and I discover new talented musicians every day. Good music is good music, period. It is no wonder people didn't know who Alanis is, considering her 5 or 6 albums after Jagged Little Pill are barely ever mentioned. I know this is an old video but for new watchers, Alanis has a new album out in 2020 called "Such Pretty Forks in the Road".

Seriously. The youth of today should go and listen to Alanis Morissette as they will learn that she's a great singer and songwriter she. I seen her live and she is just as fantastic. Obviously Taylor Swift respects talent.

How can anyone not know Alanis Morisette? Just because she’s not in the top ten now, her music is still played. 😳
