Truth! You can't rush it. I'm intrigued to hear this also from a female perspective. With women being told they almost have a shelf life should they want a family of their own. It's often an added pressure in the female equation of finding a partner and sometimes is rushed because of that desire of wanting a family of their own.

As a single women past her 40’s (and no children) still wanting and waiting on God to fulfill this desire, this is difficult to hear. Men get to determine when they are ready while we just wait... It is very hard to understand why some are blessed with good marriages (not necessarily easy) and families younger. While others struggle with the challenges of doing life single and alone. I’m speaking about us singles who don’t get to travel and have freedom to do anything due to responsibilities of caring and serving family or others in various capacities. We work and yes, sometimes it’s rewarding but it doesn’t replace your need for wanting a husband and family.

Sheshe D it sucks and there is no way around it and it is always married people lecturing to us. But, God gives when you are ready to receive. And it does make us wonder what is wrong with us. And during this covid quarantine crisis, it is only worse. Folks are staying at home with their spouse and family. We have nobody. The only solution is to not dwell on it. But it is like a wound, it never fully heals.

It's not just women that are single and want to get married. I am a man and I would like to get married and I am 30. All my friends that are men and are Christians are married. I am like the last one to get married. It gets very lonely. I have a mom and dad, but it still is lonely. My married friends don't really talk to me a lot anymore and I do not get invites to stuff (and that was way before this coronavirus hit). Yes, I know marriage is not easy at all, it can be hard or be a good marriage. I wish I could travel more and do stuff. I have traveled some and made friends along the way. I do not want to even go to church anymore cause I feel very out of place because I am single and everyone else is pretty much married.

@Arcanon10
@Arcanon10 4 жыл бұрын
@@ettyheart6729 Not their fault, no. But hearing advice on singleness from people who did not have to endure a truly prolonged season of painful singleness removes some of their credibility insofar as credibility is linked to experience. And so for a person who is enduring truly prolonged singleness, their own pain and frustration can foster anger and bitterness that lashes out at the first sign of hypocrisy or disingenuousness. It is not unlike a starving person listening to a person who eats regularly talk about the pains of starvation.
@ettyheart6729
@ettyheart6729 4 жыл бұрын
@@Arcanon10 that must be hard. I am going through that but most married people have a view we don't. When we desire marriage we see more POSITIVES than negatives because we don't want to be in the season we are now but for a married person, they might see the CONS more clearly. It's tough I know and they won't understand but they have wisdom we don't. They understand the struggle and pain of marriage and if we cross out arms not wanting to hear than when we do get married you'll wish you just listened. So instead of getting angry, we should sit. Quick to listen and slow to speak.
@Arcanon10
@Arcanon10 4 жыл бұрын
@@ettyheart6729 Hey :) I agree in principle, yes. It is always good to listen and learn from other's perspectives and I certainly would not disregard the wisdom of others based solely on what age they were married. And I agree that there is often a tendency, as you pointed out, to see the positives only rather than the cons in any situation. Indeed, videos such as this do it as well in that they tend to downplay the blessings of marriage while over-hyping the benefits of singleness. I have even heard married people say that singles should be "grateful" for their singleness because of the challenges found in marriage. Certainly, many have made this argument, often in what seems like an attempt to encourage singles, but it rings quite hollow. Many of the best things in this life, especially the blessings that God gives us, require work and dedication and endurance and patience and love. I have heard many pastors teach on 1st Corinthians 7 and assert that singles should be grateful that they are single. Yet I do not know of any pastor worth their spiritual and moral salt who, after having a spouse and a family, would then complain about how the burdens outweighed the blessings and how they wish they could return to a life of singleness. Not. Even. One. So years upon years without the joy and comfort of a loving, committed spouse with whom to share affection, love, trials, friendship, and sexual intimacy tends to take the bloom off the rose a bit, if I'm being honest. Yes, Christ is all we need. Yes, God is sovereign. But it is also true that a life of singleness is difficult, frustrating, painful, and devoid of certain blessings that only the married receive. Sure, singles may or may not have time to "serve more" .... but they will also have lonely nights, no family of their own, the lack of the affection and companionship of a spouse, and also the seemingly endless and maddeningly frustrating battle for sexual purity for which there is no release and expression that is not categorically sinful. It will often feel as though it is not a fair trade. Do not mistake me, however. I am not questioning God. I have no doubt that God is good and sovereign and desires what is best for His children. But C.S. Lewis said it best when he wrote, "we are not necessarily doubting that God will do what is best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be." And for anyone dealing with truly prolonged, unwanted singleness, it is like picking up a bloody cross and following Christ. But He did, after all, say that true discipleship would be like that ....

He could have got a single person that is struggling with singleness and actually affirmed the pain instead of doing yet another ‘Singleness is as joyful as marriage’ ‘Waiting is good, you need to wait to be a better person’ Nonsense that married people always do, expect this time there’s a single person saying it so single people don’t even get to be validated by someone who should understand.
@missNCW
@missNCW 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not enriching to be given false hope about finding a spouse or be told that you need to wait for reason they don’t even understand, when you’ve already been waiting decades and there’s 19 year olds getting married. People in the Bible were much younger when they married but there’s 35 year old women virgins who are getting told to be patient like they aren’t already patient?!!!!

Truly love this new insight and interpretation of how God meets our needs, contrary to what we've been hearing constantly that "Jesus is enough", which sometimes could be irrational or unrealistic to someone who's been torn apart with relationship issues and loneliness. God quenches our thirst with water, our hunger with food, and our desire for a godly spouse/mate with a suitable spouse/mate too. This is incredible... Thanks so much again. 🙏❤❤❤

Honestly I thought that part is actually misleading! If we are filled with all the fullness of God (Eph 3), what lack could we possibly have? How could we possibly be lonely? If we are, it just means we haven’t fully known his love the way we could. I would encourage you to listen to anything by Dan Mohler:) I promise there’s more! We don’t need God for loneliness and waiting on our circumstances to be truly, truly satisfied.

Brad Vincent did you miss the part where Adam had God walking by his side and God acknowledged Adam wasn’t fulfilled? Why do we need to read whoever you recommended when we have the Bible straight up slapping us with a 2x4 example?

I just turned 41 last week, I love being single, I'm doing a lot of traveling, hanging with my buddies, going to alot of concerts & just enjoying my quiet time & freedom, plus no drama. After a divorce & 20+ years of failed relationships, the Lord blessed me with the red pill & I'm now enjoying an absolute awesome life.

This is I think the best video I’ve seen on singleness. Too many people paint singleness as if it’s this amazing thing! Like “you should be glad you’re single!” And I want to say, okay then why are you married? I get it, there are certainly benefits to singleness. But I think too people make it like it’s awesome, but it can be painful, as a single person we can wrestle with questions, like “what’s wrong with me?” How come no one wants me?” Especially as we get older. “Maybe it’s my fault, maybe I’m not trying hard enough.” I just think Jesus wouldn’t simply tell us to be happy and glad we’re single. I think he meets us in the pain and empathizes with us, he was single after all. I think he grieves with us. Anyways, I love this video! I think, Don does an amazing job at addressing the issue.

No words will ever explain how on point this message was for me at this stage in my life. Loneliness had started to define me as a person, and though I claimed to be a Christian my heart was so cold on account of my bitterness that it was starting to destroy my relationship with the Lord Jesus. The messages in this video, the clarity you guys provided and the pictures you painted may just have suppressed the monsters in my head that were telling me I'll always be alone.. that I'm not enough. That no ones cares. Because you've reminded me God is everything, you've made me realise I'm not ready yet to commit to a relationship when I'm not committed enough to God! Dependence on Him is what He wants, as a Father. And no guy could ever complete me the way Christ completes me. In Him I have all things, but this world is temporary. God bless you for having this conversation, I was drawn to every word spoken because you both spoke with the love of Christ, through Him and for Him, and I genuinely felt connected to you because of that. So thankful for God's timing.

I have learned singleness in the past 8 months of my husband separating from me and asking for divorce. The hard part is he still lives in our home. Although I am devastated, I HAVE learned that only God can fill the void of my loneliness, sadness, lack of affection, attention and love. I have learned to call out to HIM when I am hurting and feel worthless. I needed this season in my life and when God restores my marriage I will cherish my husband and marriage so much more!

I have been a widow since Aug 2017. There are factors such as skin hunger and more psychological factors as humans that does affect us. It has been more helpful to understand our human minds and needs on a deeper level and ultimately be upon a healing Journey to be able to come to the realization that I will be okay single. Learning tools to satisfy the human needs, healing the body and the mind and bring inner peace to my spirit. There is a lot I have learned outside of the bible that God has led me too. Without the teachings & guidance of Father God Creator which led me to a deeper understanding, including his words and promises (the bible), I have no idea where I would be today. My son passed June 2020 and he was 26 years old. I have had so many pass in such a short time, and I can say without a doubt that loosing my son has been the hardest and had me questioning everything in life, including myself, my journey, my faith and even God. I also know that the greatest sacrifice is not sacrificing ourselves, having to let go of a child is so much more challenging. So without a doubt God made the ultimate sacrifice. As a parent knowing that God at any time could have taken his son Jesus off the cross, he could have stopped his pain, annihilated everyone, gave up on his creation of the human existence since Genesis when we continually broke his heart; and yet he allowed his Son to sacrifice himself to save all of us brothers and sisters. That is sacrifice. Two sacrificed that day, Not only one. What we as humans see as a sacrifice will never come close to the day Jesus Sacrificed himself as his Father Jehovah as hard as it was, probably cheered his son on through so many tears and heartache. There is so much more to the universe than any of us in our human minds can understand. For God so loved us, he gave us his son. How trusting of his father Jesus was too. Like at any time Jesus could have doubted that he would be resurrected and he too has to trust in the promises of his Father. I am 48 years old and never in my life I thought I would be single, celibate and actually happy to be alone without a partner. After understanding the huge sacrifice God and His son made for me, how can I not sacrifice the rest of my life to him without question? My sacrifice being minute compared to the sacrifice that was made by God and His love for us. Every morning I choose God, and I am okay with being single for the rest of my life if that is what God wants. I do pray that God bring into my life the right friends and to keep filling me with his love, strength, comfort and inner peace. I pray that he help me to always remember the only thing that doesnt change, and the only thing I can 100 percent rely and depend on, is my almighty God Jehovah Yahweh and my bro, shepherd and friend Jesus Christ. I give my life and expect God to do with me as he pleases and put me where he pleases and with whom he pleases. May his Will be done on earth as it is in heaven and may he helps us all through these challenging times here on earth. Nothing I do can compare to the love He has for me and what he has done for me. So many dark chapters of life threaten to over take me and God help me through every moment. I can with all that I am, and all that I have, give unto God my life as much as I humanly and imperfectly can, and trust that with God's hand he blesses every step and makes it more than enough to bring Him glory and make him proud to call me his daughter. I pray that He never stop calling us all by name and reminding us that we are always enough, deeply loved, worthy and sacred. Even when we "feel" alone, we are never alone.
