For some reason, youtube won't allow me to post this in the main comment section so I guess I will post it here. Thank you for all the love and support from chatters and Vaush viewers. I hope you all enjoyed the conversation very much because I sure did. It is my pleasure and with my deepest appreciation that I am invited on this platform to provide some of my perspective on these China-related topics. Thank you so much Tempest, for putting ZHAOMING THE IRON DRAGON to represent me on the thumbnail; I love it. Again, a thousand thanks for all the love and support.

NO way. I just mailed today about covering China, and I know and don't even hold lots of faith over you reading anything, and I'll go on a limb and say there's no shot you read my mail, but me writing and sending the comment/mail and just 3 hours ago you uploading this? Honey to the soul. I take 0 credit over my suggestion, as I have no confirmation of even having the comment, or mail read, add to that vods are uploaded at least 12 hours after a stream, further making the odds slimmer, but I can't quantify in words the gratitude and a James Webb Telescope capture of a supernova rarity of a coincidence between suggesting a cover over Chinese State apparatus, LET ALONE one in collaboration with exactly the kind of Chinese person I specifically aimed my idea of not being indoctrinated. It's just superb. Thank you, SO MUCH.

This conversation was awesome to catch live! It's really upsetting that "The (Western) Left" in general hates Vaush so much, they bend over backwards to support tankies but wont listen to leftists with first-hand experience with experience of what's actually happening over there. I learned a lot from this convo and thanks for offering up your knowledge!

Nah man thanks to you. China is one of those things where I know I'm not getting a well-rounded perspective on it no matter where I look, but you just have to kind of accept it, because there's so little good stuff out there and not enough hours in the day. It happens a lot with foreign politics and also science and tech news- you know most of the coverage is going to be a) shallow to the point of useless b) very bias c) paid for by someone with a vested interest d) written and delivered by someone who doesn't actually understand the subject and/or e) clickbait and sensationalism. This chat felt like a good, 3 hour chat about science with a really good professor who understands their field very well, but realises where the general public are, and can talk while neither overwhelming nor patronising us. Thanks a lot for the insight!

@TheRadicalDino I followed you just in case you will put out informational content about China in the future. I'd listen to you even with a face mask and a distorted voice if you worry about your family's well-being when they go to China the next time! Really, man, this conversation was absolutely amazing! I'd love you to become a (faceless?) figure of a Chinese left that's being silenced by the CCP in China and rejected by the western left way too much!❤️

Antarctic ice coverage just hit a record low for least amount of ice coverage ever documented, and it's currently WINTER in the southern hemisphere, when ice levels should be at their highest. That's simply a fact. Climate Change isn't a product of capitalism being sold to you, it's already a reality for most of the world. Westerners, especially those living in nations which historically benefitted the most from fossil fuels, are usually the only people stupid or egotistical enough to think they can "not buy" reality.

Thanks for having him on. I'm a black man who has lived in China, and when I listen to leftists talking about Russia or China, they invariably seem to take their side, as if just because the leader calls themselves socialist or communist, that they 1) are, 2) care about the welfare of the people, and 3) are fighting powerful forces that conspire to keep their country and people down. It's always "America bad" with them, and it's why I can't take leftists seriously on foreign policy. It's a shame because I don't buy into the conservative outlook on the world, but at least they're doing a deeper dive on the subject. One quick rule of thumb: no matter what a country or leader calls themselves, if they are accountable to a small group of essential supporters, they are authoritarians. If they're accountable to a large group of essential supporters, they are democrats. It's the reason you'd rather live in the United Kingdom instead of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

There's two reasons Chinese media hasn't blown up in the West like Japanese and South Korean. 1. Chinese media tends not to pander to Western tastes because China is much less Americanized than SK or Japan and takes pride in that 2. The average American has a low opinion of Chinese goods partly from decades of cheap manufacturing. The other part is that Americans are much more politically comfortable being really into Japanese or Korean culture because they're US bases and China is our chief adversary.

Having studied east asian history for a year in college... this is refreshing to see this perspective as well as talking about the historic back drop about why china is the way it is. For example, his grandmother being saved Mao... Not many americans realize Mao rose to power with such great speed, because people could see first hand a war hero saving them. Likewise, american history classes also don't teach about the manchurian incident or oppium wars which helps to explain why china has the views they do. As vaush eludes, china has been given numerous reasons to distrust outsides and more than enough reason to want to cling to power. Where as the typical american understanding of china is "Oh that developing country thats communist, and maybe they do some not-so-nice things, but hey, iphone!" It paints a more full picture, which you seldom see in a current events discussion.

This entire chat has reaffirmed what I have thought about the Chinese *GOVERNMENT* but has helped open up my mind more to the life and struggles mainland Chinese people deal with daily. Like that anecdote that Dino gave about the fisherman waiting on the other side of the island to catch all those released fish, I would have before assumed that the fisherman just didn't care, and while that is partially the case, it is more so that they are ignorant of the situation and the problems that their actions cause because the CCP can't let anything that would lead to criticism of the party or the actions of National leaders. I am still disgusted with these actions that hurt ecology, and its another thing I need to check myself on whenever I notice I make a quick assumption about China, or Chinese People as a whole. I legitimately thought most Chinese citizens were complicit to the CCP and lefties there were just tankies that praised Mao. It makes me sad to the reality of the situation, disappointed at how narrow my thinking was, and wish there was more that I could do to help besides praying that everything turns out alright in the end.

I lived there for 20 years basically my entire childhood, pretty sheltered so I learned some new stuff in this video but this definitely also helped me organized my brain too of my life there and my experiences. Oh and I’m trans too and i actually started HRT in China, the doctor was really kind he was so busy so I would usually have to wake up at like 5AM and wait hours and hours usually hungry (because blood tests) in front of the office. He has a lot of patients sadly cuz it seems it’s just really hard to find doctors for this kind of stuff.
