I grew up with that type of mother, those who seek their needs above their children. Although she is a incredible grandmother. I 🙏 the kids see the real truth as they grow older and are able to have a healthy relationship with their father, it's sad all of this could have been prevented. Too many parents use their children more as a tool then as a gift from the Lord God. Either way we should definitely keep these children in our prayers. Blessings in Jesus name 😇🙏

From my experience, children that were difficult to raise always know that they were because the parents tell them and friends and family tell anecdotes. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing. For example my little sister threw horrible tantrums and was quite spoiled. She knows this and still gets called “Veruca Salt” from time to time. It doesn’t bother her one bit. The difficult child always knows who they are.

There is always one scapegoat child with a narcissist mother . Thats Colin in this case.
@megC19836 жыл бұрын
This theory doesn't make any sense. According to psychologists, controlling mothers need a scapegoat to find a source of blame in the world around them. Most of the time, this role will fluctuate among siblings. Assuming one child is the scapegoat, if that child is sent away, the mother will need another scapegoat. So which child is the scapegoat now? Perhaps you should spend less time judging and more time trying to understand. Collin was reportedly "expelled" from school for being physically abusive to both adults and other children. He was engaged in intensive therapy at the time which did not help. It seems to me that Kate is not the only person who was at her wits end with his behavior.

Lisa Pizza ... I don't know anything about his signing away his parental rights, I really don't follow them. I just happened upon this story. It would seem to me, IMO, that it would be just a little too easy to do that, know what I mean? Then all dead beat dads could do that and we would have even more of a burden on our system than we already do. If he does sell information like this to Radar, that has to be the lowest, creepiest, worst sort of dad material there is. On the other hand, if Radar is buying it, they are no better. Period.
@lisapizza59746 жыл бұрын
I don't know all the details, like everyone else I'm repeating what I have read. What I have read is that in exchange for not paying support he gave up his rights to make decisions about the kids (whether that was a termination of parental rights - probably not) and that's why she was able to start filming again. Up until that point he refused to allow filming to go on and the show had to shut down. But yes, he absolutely sells stories to ROL. Anytime he has any info on the kids it ends up published, that's why Mady and Cara won't speak to him any longer. They said it in the People interview I believe..

So sad , I have a special needs child who is now 15 , through all the broken dishes, holes in the wall, rushing to school to do damage control, screaming , kicking biting, cursing, he is MY child and I will never not be there for him.
@rharris88906 жыл бұрын
why do you think she isn't there for him? You are the parent of a special needs child and you are judging the parent of another special needs child for seeking help for her child which she cannot provide?!! You do realize parents can't just 'ship their child off' to a residential treatment facility-- the insurance companies would never go for that. There has to be a recommendation from a psychiatrist for them to even consider placing a child in an RTF. RTFs cost thousands of dollars per month depending on the level of treatment the child requires--and the length of stay is usually about 6 months. NO insurance company would pay that without documented proof of inappropriate and dangerous patterns of behavior from psychiatric professionals that treatment of that level is required,

I'm not seeing any evidence that this Kate person knows how to love anyone or anything unconditionally. Some people are born without the capability to do so. It's really quite sad, especially when little ones suffer because of it.

Chelsea Copeland, If Collin is on lockdown, which I doubt, that shouldn’t stop her from taking all these milestone celebrations to him. In episodes it never appeared that Collin was untamable. And even if he is, does that just mean because he doesn’t have an A type behavior/character, that as a Mother, you toss him aside? There are countless families who deal with a plethora of mental and physical disabilities regarding their child. Some parents even changing diapers the whole life of the child. Do these parents send their own child away? Not to mention that Kate is financially set. Why not hire Collin a live-in therapist? Instead of sending him away, bring the help to him. Keep your family together at any cost. Kate is full of BS! Kate loves to be in control and demands perfection. Because Collin is high maintenance and might embarrass poor Kate, she doesn’t want to deal with Collin. She’s a horrible, selfish, self absorbed human being. Just because you give birth, doesn’t make you a Mother. That title is earned. Where there’s a will there’s a way, she just doesn’t want to deal and put the time in to assist her own kid. He will eventually hate his Mother, and rightfully so. The only person Kate really cares about, is Kate.

Kate is the most controlling, unspontaneous, miserable person I've ever seen. What the hell kind of mother writes a chapter in her book DIRECTED STRAIGHT AT her young special needs son, complaining about his behavior which began at age 2??? That’s unbelievably petty and cruel and unmotherly...and yet she claims to love him? If your 2 year old is really acting out, consider one of the following as the reason why... 1- the child has needs that are not being met, and - yes, of course - possibly bc those needs may have not, as of yet, been recognized, diagnosed, etc, and the 2s are a notoriously difficult age. But if you have 1 out of your 6 two year olds giving you constant and unique trouble, maybe a doc eval is a good idea... 2- the child is being mistreated by someone...possibly abused..and that abuse could be happening in 1, 2, or 3 ways (physically, emotionally, and sexually)or any combo thereof. Again, if just 1 of 6 toddlers is REALLY acting out, try to figure out why! 3- you might NOT be the world’s greatest mother. We ALL recognize that having twins followed by a sextuplets is a SERIOUS challenge, but it sounds like Collin didn’t get much from you as a mother, and continues not to get much of anything from you...EXCEPT FOR a shitty chapter in your money making book both ABOUT him and TO him by YOU, his own mother, blaming him for, and expressing your aggravation and anger and impatience at, all the years of his troubled child behavior. Even just the little bit I know about this mother, Kate, is more than I ever want to see again. Hopefully Collin is getting the help and care and education and LOVE and acceptance and patience that he so badly needs at wherever he is currently placed, and from his father, Jon.

Kate gets a lot of hate, but I don't think this is an area where it is acceptable (granted, it never is). When you're the parent of a special needs child, there are greater obstacles; for some parents, they have the resources to provide said child with proper care, others aren't so lucky. If Kate felt her resources were limited and she couldn't help Collin the way other parents could, and needed to send him away, then fine. But don't act like she's a horrible parent for wanting to help her son. You have no idea what people go through - especially with a special needs child - so at least be nice.

Keith Turner i agree she seem to be doing it out of love but Collin would probably rather be at home and if it is autism then he does need somethings adjusted so he can be more comfortable but a lot of parents don't put their kid in a facility because for one they don't have the money and they'd rather have their child with them and his/her siblings. They learn how to help the child by going to some kind of special classes and things like that. Why can't she do the same? And the whole part in the book of testing her parenting, EVERY kid does that! Whethed its2 a 2 year old in the store throwing a fit cause they want a toy or a 16 year old staying out past curfew or smoking pot it happens. Which obviously isn't a good thing but it alsi isn't terrible. Sometimes rebellious behavior is part of childhood.

I have a mentally ill daughter and Kate memoirs in her book that refers to Collin SOUNDS like my EXACT feelings about my daughter! And That’s why I had to (after 12 years of trying to fix her myself) I finally had to have her commuted to a group residential facility for her mental illnesses. It hurts to not have your child at home, but in a lot of cases, like mine and Kate’s, it’s what’s best for the child. My heart goes out to the entire family

So your daughter doesn’t spend any of her milestones with you or her family? Do you see her very frequently so she doesn’t feel like it’s a punishment for having an illness she can’t control? I’m asking these questions because I have a very challenged child and I’ve sacrificed my whole life plans to make sure he can get the help as well and still have me and his sibling around him as much as possible. He gets help, therapy and me there at all times. I will be damned if he can’t spend his milestones with us. I truly believe there are other options out there than putting them in a full time facility away from their family, especially if mothers like Kate have time to date men and be on a reality tv show.

Your Ego - I could care less about your profession. The proof is in the pudding. Milestones and being 100% AS A MOTHER involved with my child has helped my child thrive to make sure he isn’t isolated because of an illness. Their self-esteem and self worth can be affected in this area. Every child needs a sense of belonging. Psychologically this can affect a child in the long run. With your “profession” I would expect this is be a known fact. Kate has excluded him from these events and celebrations, which eventually he will watch on tv. If you put your life on reality tv, you’ve chosen to expose your parenting decisions and your children, so yes, I will have my own opinion about it with Kate. It is an extremely difficult road, that I know, but I don’t agree with having her child miss out on family events, birthdays and milestones especially him being a sixtuplet. Like I said, it may take more sacrifices as a parent but there are other options out there.

My only criticism against what she did is not telling Jon where his son is at... sure those two are on the rocks all the time but from all the interviews I seen he cares about his kids. ‘The court said that I should keep it private...’ that means not telling the press but I think telling the father of his kids where his son is at is a low blow in my book.

I don't agree with many, if any of Kate's "child rearing" techniques, in fact I'm surprised he's the only one with issues because she was less than nice to the boys, esp when they were toddlers. While I do believe Jon has every legal right to know where his son was placed (he has to help pay for it) I simply DON'T agree with posting photos to IG, anymore than I agree with Kate's continued exploitation of those kids. Does she realize that PA is one of the WORST states when it comes to 'institutionalized' children being trafficked & sexually molested (my apologies to anyone living in the Keystone State, I have family in PA so I don't say it to be funny or mean, I said it because it's TRUE) My youngest son is a high functioning autist, with ADHD; infact we didn't figure it out until I took my grandson in when he was 2 (it was like Déjavu! I'd seen this all before!!) My youngest was put in a group home for his behavior....but he was also being manipulated by his Dad who was only a parent in between girlfriends (when he had to impress a new one, then he wanted his son around, otherwise not so much) my youngest also had a bike accident & wound up with a TBI, that often exacerbated things & made everything worse. He went to the group home, got put on medication, had a very strict controlled environment with rewards & he loved it, but it wasn't a permanent or even long term solution. Upon coming home he went to live with his dad. My grandson is Autistic, high functioning & he behaves very much like Collin did as a toddler. My grandson lived with me for probably a year & a half before my daughter got her act together & decided to be a mom again. He NEEDED attention, full-one on one-time devoted only to him & his needs. (He's her only child) IMO what he needed the most was STRUCTURE & ROUTINE....and of course a lot of ATTENTION & PATIENCE. Even with all of the above he still managed to destroy many things, couldn't turn my back for a minute!! He took apart an anniversary clock while I was making lunch. His speech was delayed so it was very frustrating for both of us. When he decided we were doing something, like pushing him around my house in his LT Coup car, that's what we did for 45 min....and the meltdowns when we stopped were awful & of epic proportions. I feel for anyone raising a Special Needs child, it's not easy & I can't imagine what it's like with more than one child because they ALL need attention. My grandson is 5 now & back living with his mom for the last almost 2 yrs. It was a very trying experience but the thought of putting my 2 yo grandson in an "institution" or Special Needs facility/home when FAMILY ready, willing & able to come to his aid & rescue him Who can forget the episode when Kate was throwing away Collin's blankey, or whatever treasure he was attached to, because Jody let someone have gum; my heart broke for that boy! And sweet Joel....Which child did she lock in a room for something trivial? Maybe if Kate didn't alienate both her family & Jon's, including Jon (tho I hope Jon has settled down & has secure employment.....before worrying about a girlfriend & finding some idiotic reality show to guest on! Put your children first!) Maybe he wouldn't have to be in a Special Needs Facility where a child's safety & well being can be at risk. I'm sure the mothers who sent their boys to Jerry Sandusky's Second Mile Program thought they were doing the best thing for their boys too. Sandusky was NOT the only big name, high positioned pedophile

I have high functioning autism and looks like that's what he has. She couldn't deal with him so she sent him away. I've been to 3 places like that they don't help you they will lock you away Drug you or at some places shock you. We know she has the money to get him help.

Andrew Reichler I am a carer for an 11 year old boy who has autism his mother abandoned him at 3 months old and now lives solely with his father. Due to his unsafe behaviour at school the authorities are trying to go against his father's wishes to have him medicated it is very sad

I have always wondered about Kate's real ability to parent, even back in the days of the TV show she seemed overwhelmed and at a loss to parent the twins who could at least fend for themselves, while she just seemed unable to parent the others but did not want to co-parent with john in a healthy way and instead fail on her own then work at developing a successful parental style. This was more evident with Collin. Many families end up with that one child that tests them at every turn and this is usually the child that helps you develop as a good parent. Kate has always seemed to self-centered to take that step into working out how to parent well and do the hard stuff and leaving that to a nanny/assistant or some other care giver while not allowing John the opportunity to step in and be the hands on parent the kids needed because she can't let go of what she sees as the individuals that make her 'famous'. The fact that she would put a child into full time care when she is in position to have him get treatment at home in the family environment, underscores her needs come first over what her children need. Because caring for Collin would mean work and change on her part its was easier for her to offload is care to someone else.

Mommie Dearest is Narcissist. She is so concerned about herself, how she feels, how frustrating her life is, she is abusive. Poor Collin is probably the one child she points out to abuse the most. Instead of sending him to a home or institutional home, let him live with his father who can one on one with him. She threw him away. Being apart from family or singled out like that is child abuse. She needs to be institutionalized so everyone can be protected!

You’re going to add guilt tripping words in your book even though you know he has special needs? That’s just petty. Her mind when it comes to parenting is what will make my family look good, not what do they need. She has a control issue, so when things go left she gets even more domineering. I honestly don’t think she was meant to have this many kids and it shows.

Wow. So so sad. If I was dad I would be fight for full custody of Collin at least. These people are something else...

Having children is a challenge in itself but I truly think Kate's personality my also play a huge factor in this story. I watched this Family as many have throughout the years and she has to have control over EVERYTHING, TOP TO BOTTOM. She met her match with one child...yet has all that money can buy but she could have brought help in a long time ago for Collin...this isn't good for her image so she disregarded him! It's a pure shame when a father doesn't know where his child is yet he never abused them and was a very active part of their lives for many years. Now as the older girls get older they show all the disrespect towards Kate which is a direct reflection of her deep control issues. As much as one of the older girls acted out I wondered if Bipolar issues run in the line. Many thought it but few spoke of it.

She is such an angry and hateful, mean spirited person. No wonder he had difficulties living in the house with such an angry person. Her attitude makes it so MUCH WORSE!

Wow. This video has aged horribly! That note that he wrote & had his friend sneak out of the facility he was in broke my heart....Kate is a disgusting POS for locking this child up & hiding him away from Jon. I’m glad Hannah & Collin got to get away from Kate’s abuse

As someone who was trained to work with children/teens/adults of a variety of special needs this bothers me. In my personal opinion she should not have sent him away. Not only is it bad on the child to miss big events in the family, but her platform could have been used to bring awareness and support to whatever special need he has. So many parents across America and the world have children with a variety of disabilities. I know at times how alone and overwhelmed they must feel. Banding together to support and bring awareness for each other would do a world of good. One of my bestest friends has Autism. I've stayed by his side supporting and helping him when no one else would. More light should be shown on these things. Just my opinion.

She just can’t handle him, shame on her, deal with it Kate!!!!!! He doesn’t have “special “ needs, she does not know how to handle him.

Yeah and Collin said the dr at the institution was abusing him. And he said Kaye abused him before that. She makes me absolutely SICK!!!!!!!! She doesn’t deserve any of those children.
